“If it’s Mac it’s wack” 😂😂😂
Lol
Achieved the CompTIA A+ a few days ago and was searching for where to start gaining AD/home lab experience while I apply for help desk and other entry-level roles, someone on Reddit recommended your channel. I'm a former digital designer that has been on disability since 2019, ready to work again and decided to make the transition into I.T.
I have no work experience worth noting but have had a passion for tech and PC gaming since childhood(33 now). Your playlist helps navigating new waters tremendously, thank you so much. I look forward to watching and learning more from your content along the way!
Also, shout out to L4D2 and The Walking Dead TellTale game. Both are bangers!
Thank you for the video. This home lab on my resume was a great talking point and helped me get my first it job!
Nice work
Your channel is awesome! You're helping new people to get direction for their career. When I started in Helpdesk, I have IT background but this isn't taught on where I studied and I studied for 2 different colleges. May God bless you Kev!
thanks!
Honestly don’t know how you have time to work full time & be as active as you are. You’re always engaging and encouraging us to keep at it. Even with posts like this that are years old. Great stuff man, greatly appreciated 🙌🏽
just wanted to randomly thank you Kev! . I used to watch your tutorials from Udemy, mike meyers A+ and Prof Messer during my unemployment season which took me about 4 months. I can proudly say, it was all worth it. I became confident on my interviews and gained better knowledge in Desktop support. now here I am now serving my 10th month in a School environment where my salary had increased to 120%. really appreciate all that you are doing for the IT community. keep it up and stay blessed as ever. cheers!
Nice work
Do you mind sharing your resume to get a feel as to how to layout my resume?
Thanks! This playlist and the resume template has helped me so much to land my first job in IT as an IT Support Specialist!
Thank you Aries. Good luck on the new role.
It has been many years since I did my IT studies, so I really enjoyed this video to help me get my knowledge back, increase my knowledge in hopes to get into an IT job.
really thank you for understanding that some people really finds things tough sometimes and some really doesnt understand which makes the learner feel dumb and uninspired!
Thank you so much for this video! I've been wanting to create my own VMs, but I was intimidated to start. I'm glad that I discovered you on LinkedIn and your content sent me here. This video was very helpful and I can't wait to learn more from your channel!
Thank you for sharing this, I truly appreciate it! As you said there are people out there that needs this type of guidance to feel more confident and to keep thriving in IT, which I consider myself one of those.
Hey Kev, thanks so much for this video, I'm new to this whole thing, my cousin introduced your channel to me, and just 3hrs here I'm already loving it, I will be busy a lot on your channel in the following months and years lol. Thank you and thanks to my cousin too.
Nice. Welcome.
dude, this is so great. thank you for being so approachable in explaining all of this!
thanks.
I sincerely thank you for taking the time to do this man.
Thanks
Going to start going through this playlist on this fine Saturday. Excellent as always Kev!
Nice. Good luck.
Thanks so much, finally starting up my home lab because of your videos, and hoping to land my first IT job through your tips!
I was able to install and setup my Virtual Box and Windows Server 2019. Thanks for your help, very informative.
Hey braddah i'm in your discord group but have been lagging on getting VMware set up... finally did it today and thank you for the very clear instructions. You'll always have my support my guy... much props to you and the work you do for the people! straight up.
Cool. Nice work.
It worked, thanks for the information 👍🏽 I enabled the VT from bios and now I'm installing Windows Server 2016 using VirtualBox, same steps as your video.
Thanks again chief!
Best course on the UA-cam!! God bless you Kev!!
I appreciate it...
This is genuinely so helpful. All of your videos are and I can't wait to keep going!
Thanks.
Thank you for your time and these videos, I am so glad I found your channel as I am new to IT and you are hitting alot of the things I need to learn!

Thanks
Man I land my first job in IT and you´ve been a great help!
Nice work
how did u do it?
thank you for sharing these videos, i've recently passed my 1001 a+, and currently studying for 1002... but i've been watching your videos about how to land a job with no experience, and so i've been following your videos to learn some extra material and how to do your resume with no experience so thank you for your videos!
Cool. Good luck.
Thank you for breaking this down step by step. Really appreciate it.
Thanks.
Thank you so much for this series, I managed to get a helpdesk job (starting in 3 weeks) with zero it experience by talking about how I did this lab + what I learnt with it. The recruiter said I stood out from the rest of the candidates because of this :D
Nice work. Good luck.
Love the videos Kev; your positive attitude and commitment to helping others is truly inspirational! Thank you, and keep making awesome content :)
Just hearing that, makes my day. Thanks
@@KevtechITSupportWell deserved mate. You are one of the good guys! :) You are changing people lives for the better! Catch you soon on Discord.
Got my first real start today, Kev. Thanks to you.
Nice
I appreciate all that you do Kevin. I am doing some projects to put up on my linkedin and github and this is one that I plan to sit through and work on tomorrow. I have an interview Friday for a remote IT Admin position. I'm almost done with my senior year of college studying cyber security AND studying for Security+ but a lot of the jobs I apply to want experience. I'm hoping I can land this IT Admin job while I work on more projects, network, and work on my craft. I'm the only POC Computer Science major at my college and it's kind of lonely, but finding folks online to network with has been a blast. Good luck with your new position as well, I hope it's going great and continue to put out great content.
update please!
@@oneeyedpapi8058 I low key forgot about this comment. Well first I did not get the remote IT Admin job. They waited a whole month just to tell me they went with someone else, which honestly is great cause it didn't really seem like that good of a job anyways. Second a little after that I got hired as the Systems Administrator of the college I graduated from. I've been here since July of 2022 and honestly it's a much better experience. The infrastructure is a bit outdated, but it's been my job to upgrade it, which has been fun. We plan to move to Azure so I've been working on stuff for that. I just acquired the AZ-900 cert, but after a bit I wanna get the AZ-801. We hired a new Network Admin who is my age and grew up in this town. We hang out and game together, so I have someone my age to work with. Overall happy where I'm at
any updates on this? I hope you got the job brother!
He got a different job. It's in the comments above.
@@always6lack-_-862 Hello I did indeed get the job. It's been a pretty long ride. I actually just got back from my first conference in Dallas that they sent me to earlier last week. A lot of progression and we actually survived a cyber attack this passed winter. The whole team was hands on deck. This next fiscal year, I'm in line for a raise in salary. We're progressing the infrastructure in leaps and bounds this summer. So a pretty flooded schedule. Long story short, I'm glad they took a shot on me with the little experience I had, but I showed to be able to put in the work and learn.
YOU ARE THE MAN! Thanks for teaching me how to build my first home lab!
Your the Man Kev!!! This will help heaps! I can add this to my skill set. This is just great man!
Glad it helps.
Not too sure about the other people commenting here, but I was able to install Microsoft Server 2022 (using VBox) on a windows laptop with 8 gb of ram. Your channel is awesome! Thanks mate
Thanks.
Bro I'm gonna tell you right now...I would pay for your videos...you make it understandable and you don't make people feel stupid.
Thanks man. I try to make it easy to understand.
I was over here thinking I had to put together another PC with parts from ebay or Reddit smh you are the best man!! You give me hope in starting my career in IT now it’s just time for me to do my part and start the grind.
Thanks
That’s what I thought too😂
OH wow! I am sooooo grateful that you are sharing such wonderful content. I had zero experience and now i am comfortable with quite a few skills.
Thank you very much👉💯👈
Someone recommended you from Reddit. So glad they did. Great resource. Thank you.
P.S. Mac is wack
Thanks!
Awesome video! I'm getting started now and this is super helpful. I'm looking to get into a Helpdesk tier role. There are tons of openings remote the catch is the pay is not that great but it's worth it just to get the experience. I have another side gig so that will help with the income. I appreciate the videos so much.
Thanks and good luck.
Thank you so much man even though I'm I.t literate I've been procrastinating alot and havent got around to.setting this up till today now il.binge watch all your vids and get up to speed with the latest skills as well as sort my cv out I'm gonna try get job in I.t by end of the year
Nice
I was told I was light on experience with active directory and 2factor authentication, I am so glad you have these videos.
I have a few videos. It should help.
Had to enable virtualisation in the bios but now I’m able to follow along! Thanks for the vids
Cool
thank you for this series!
This is an amazing channel!
Thanks Kev
Thanks
Hey Kev hope you are doing good. This is incredible lessons. Thank you so much 👍
Thanks
Thank you for being so kind and understanding. Always wanted to know how to install server. thank you for your video I really learned a lot ! As I’m a slow learner.
No problem, glad it helps.
Thanks, these videos also serve as a great refresher.
Thanks for this kev!
Thank you so much! I was sitting here, thinking how I can change career into IT (I have an A+ but have no hyands on experience other than what i do at home and from what i remember from thye exam) and that even before I apply for a helpdesk job, would be so nice to have some kind of place to practice what is done in this kind of job and get experience..On my own i downloaded Windows server 2019 and installed it on virtualbox then went to youtube to search "helpdesk labs" - Lo and behold, your video came right up and boy, I was smiling from ear to ear knowing I am on the right path doing what you are showing and not even knew it!! THANK YOU for sharing your knowledge with n00bs like me. I hope I am not too old for IT at 46 but I want so much to learn! Subscribed!!
Age is just a number. You got this.
@@KevtechITSupport thank you!!
Love this dude
Your video are helpful With letting everyone know the Reality of what you actually have to understand to get started 🤙🏽
Thanks Devin.
on it now thanks Kev. Maximum respect
Thanks for the vids brother! awesome work
Thanks.
thank you a lot for this very detailed explanation
Thanks again for your detailed explanation although it Virtual Box is slightly updated, but the fundamentals are there.
Been working in IT 2y 6m and I am doing these to brush up on my fundamentals
Thank you very much. It’s helping!
Thank you sir! you not only help me but others as well !!!!

Muchos gracias senor 😊😊😊
thank you for the video
Np
YESSIRR!
thanks
With ease!!! Do you know how many UA-cam vids I went through trying to create a VM? So many failed attempts. For this to work on the 1st try brings me joy LOL. Now I have no excuses to start my KevTech lab.
Nice
Kev! Thank you so much. Your instructions were detailed, informative and straight to the point. I appreciate how you slow things down for visual learners like me. Also, you are right! First time techies are pressured to study for certifications and don't even hands on experience, and wonder why they can't get hired. I was one of them! I would like to take a couple of courses from you. How can I contact you and get more info?
thanks, you get email me at kevin@kevtechitsupport.com or you can look at my website. kevtechitsupport.com/
youre a legend bro
Thanks
2:40 "If it's Mac it's whack"
Oh I caught that one don't you worry
Lol
thanks my man
i already utilized this into my github, going for 2 vids a day pretty easy, can I show you on discord?
I'm on discord. You can always ask.
easy to understand
Yep, try to make it simple.
Fyi, I have 8 gigs of RAM on my laptop and had to stop on Part 8 because we run 3 VM's at the same time in that lesson to do remote desktop. My laptop was barely handling running two at the same time, impossible to run 3. I optimized each VM as much as I could in VM Box. That helped greatly but it still can't run 3 at the same time. I'm starting the lab over with 16 gigs on my desktop computer. Hopefully that will be enough. I googled it and found that 16 gigs is enough to run 3 VMs at once. Anyways, it's been a real pain in the booty hole.
thanks. i just did it.
First Home Lab, Let's Go!!
Nice
AYYY FELLOW PC GAMER! I SEE L4D2, MAFIA 2, MAFIA 3, AGE OF EMPIRES, WALKING DEAD TELL TALE GAMES EPISODES, CS SOURCE, THE WARLORDS GAME!
More quality Content. Just starting more of your videos.
Thanks Tyler.
Kev, I'm new to IT & your channel is great! Couple questions: I setup a vm on Azure, so do I need to still go through virtual box or do I do everything in Azure? Will this playlist still help with Azure in getting started in Helpdesk or should I look at one of your other playlists? Thanks
Thanks. For this lab, it won't work on azure unless you set up network settings correctly on azure directory which I didn't go over on my playlist.
So can I use virtual box with the VM being on Azure?
Like I said that won't work because I did everything on a vm not azure and azure has network topology systems that need to be set up correctly for this lab to work if you plan on using azure.
Ok, got it thanks
You're awesome! How do I connect with you for mentorship? Thanks so much.
I don't do mentorships but I do have a discord discord.gg/pHbCDNwNmE
ur mustache is so icky, but i thank you fro your videos, they are really informative
haha, thanks.
Getting an error during the Windows Server 2016 setup saying " Turn off BitLocker because it isn't supported in the edition of Windows you want to install" but there's no way to disable bitlocker since I'm using Windows 11 home edition. Is there a work around for this?
Mac is whack? Is that what were doing bro? lmao just kidding good video
Lol. Virtualization not user friendly on a Mac machine.
Hey Kev! Before I start downloading VirtualBox and Server 2016, I only have one personal computer. And, I don't want to make any errors/accidents deleting all my files on the current Windows 10 Home OS. I really want to start learning active directory and doing my own labs this year. Should I buy an additional computer or laptop to get this going? Any help from you will be appreciated!
New pc should work. Make sure it supports vms and has enough memory.
@@KevtechITSupport Thank you for replying back, I appreciated. I'll look forward to buy a separate pc. 👍
Was wondering what cpu you have, mine is an old i3 with 2c/4t and virtual box is pretty much unusable so I was planning on getting a new cpu. Should I go for a 6 core or an 8 core cpu ?
I'm using amd ryzen with 12 cores. 64 gb ram and 2080 ti graphics card with 12 gb ram.
Hi Kev, I just wanted to thank you for your great videos. I have one question, my laptop its not that powerful, so it is hard for me to run win-server-2016 and win10 on VM, as my RAM keep crushing. Is there anyway I can practice it online ?? what do you suggest ? (ps. I am really tight on money and I cant buy new laptop). many thanks
Do it on Microsoft Azure, it's good for 1 years and the vms are good for 1 month.
@@KevtechITSupport Thank you so much for your reply and effort. Would you please kindly make a video on how to do this. As I am sure many people struggling to get the PC/Laptop to do all this labs.
Much Much appretiated. love your videos and keep up the great work. Thanks
@@fathiasfour87 I have a video on that already. Glad it helps.
@@KevtechITSupport found it. Thanks a milion bud
@@KevtechITSupport Sorry to bother you again. But are there any free VM other than Azure to practice AD ? as I realised that i had Azure account beofer and my subscription has finished. Any help will be much appretiated Kev :)
Kev, I apologize if I’m being redundant, I just don’t want to screw up my computer and want to do this virtualization the right way so I can get hands on experience for an entry level helpdesk job.
So as far as doing this virtualization for my Windows 10 home operating system computer,
I should do what if it can’t be done on that operating system?
you do it on azure and lab it up in there since you have windows 10 home edition. Virtualization won't work on home edition.
What are the instructions for doing it on Azure?
Hey Kev, Just getting into IT, i was wondering if a pc with 16 gb of ram and a 1070ti would be sufficient to follow along the 14 lab-long series 🤔
It should. The minimum requirements is 2gb ram for windows 10 and server 2016 but it will be slow. 4gb or higher would make it a lot faster.
Kev, will installing Windows Azure to create virtual labs on my Windows 10 home desktop computer mess up my Windows 10 home desktop computer?
azure is browser based it won't mess up your pc.
Great video!
Side Note - Can I add you on Steam? Lol
You can if you like
@@KevtechITSupport that would be dope!
steamcommunity.com/id/kevinragingdemon/
Hey Kev, thanks a lot for the video, can i use amazon workspace to create VMs instead of microsoft azure?
Amazon doesn't have windows 10
@@KevtechITSupport ok, is there any other option instead of using azure?
@@MC1995xx azure is free, not sure why you don't want to use that. Plus everyone moving to the cloud so its good to learn it. You can use Google vms too if anything.
@@KevtechITSupport my only issue is that they dont accept a prepaid card as a payment method and unfortunately thats the only one i have at the moment, i wpuld be more than happy to use azure otherwise
Makes sense.
Hey Kev, hope you're well
doing well, thanks.
Kev, are you sure these virtual labs won’t mess up my Windows 10 Home operating system
computer.
I can’t afford for it to break.
Do you want to know my specs?
It's on vms and you need windows pro for this to work. It won't work on a home edition
Would you recommend this series even though its a few years old, in regards to newer versions of software etc?
Yep. I'm on reddit a lot. People still use this playlist and get jobs in IT watching my old videos.
@@KevtechITSupport Just wanted to say I started the playlist and I've been learning a lot! You definitely give a lot of information and don't just go over the super surface level stuff in Active Directory. Currently on Video 6 and trying to keep up with the lab in my spare time. Just wanted to say thanks and appreciate the quick response even after many years later from when you created this video!
I stopped by the discord channel and never left.
Cool
Is anyone else having trouble with the Microsoft Evaluation page. I can't seem to find any of the servers to download.
Microsoft having issues.
@@KevtechITSupport not 100% sure I just know I can’t download any Microsoft server version or at least it doesn’t give me the option. Should I wait? Or is there an alternative to this.
Can't do much unless I throw the iso on Google drive.

Kev, I’m COMP TIA A+ certified from the 220-701 220-702 exams.
I want to be an entry level helpdesk technician but I don’t have any practical experience in IT or I don’t have any practical experience to be an entry level helpdesk technician.
I’m also studying for the COMP TIA N10-007 Network + exam.
I want to have practical experience for someone who is COMP TIA A+ certified.
If I do these Virtual Labs will I know what I’m doing
and not just do them even if I am able to do the tasks you ask to do ?
Also, I’m halfway through the COMP TIA Network + Complete Study Guide by Todd Lammle and I am on Chapter 10.
Should I put the COMP TIA Network + studying from the COMP TIA N10-007 Network + Complete Study Guide, for the COMP TIA N10-007 Network + exam on hold, while doing these virtual labs?
You need a good resume and learn active directory for helpdesk. Add the comptia a+ cert on the resume. You don't need another cert on the resume for helpdesk. It's good to have but not needed.
Hi Kev, I’m not sure what I did wrong. I installed windows server 2016. My mouse isn’t working, and I’m not too sure how to get out of this server. Even after restarting, I end up at the server login and not my regular pc login. Did I do something wrong?
You installed it on your pc instead of a vm. Only way to fix it is by downloading the original operating system and installing it.
