Oh wow... I absolutely love it. I can't get over what a treasure you have, in your Art, and that you can pass it on to your daughter & eventually Grandbebez. Who doesn't want a Grandma Rug?
This is perfect. This lady shows you how to do it without having to sell every single section. You only “ lace it” sort of sewing- the very end.! Love her. Amazing!!
I love this!! I have a braided rug my grandmother made years ago and I’ve always wanted to learn how to make my own. Thank you for posting this great video. Beautiful work!!
Aaww, mine was a quilted blanket and I love it, she gave us as a gift we got married, I love gifts from grandma!...thank you for watching, if you have any questions let me know!
You did a great job! I also liked your explanations and how you joined the T-shirt strands. Your video, by far, is the most informative I've seen and I really love the way your rugs turned out! Thank you so much!
Muy hermoso tapete, es una verdadera artesana , felicidades me gustó mucho y espero me salga tan bonito como el de ella, gracias por compartir sus conocimientos, Dios la bendiga, 🙏, saludos desde México!!
wow ang galing nyo namang gumawa ng DIY braided rug from old shirt. Ganyan lang pala gawin yan. Matrabaho pero at least makakatipid. Maganda syang libangan o kaya gawing negosyo.
This is the original way to construct a braided rug. I've watched other videos and they don't show this technique. Some of the new ones require using a sewing machine, which I find awkward and too "thready" with all the zigzag. Others are too hole-y that you can see through them and aren't very functional. I purchased the tools for this technique years ago in the 1970's, which included a fabric stripper, because woven cottons were used, and a lacing tool, which looked similar to a small bodkin. Nice work! Thank you for this video.
It’s a beautiful rug. It would be really helpful if you could give an idea of how many t-shirts you used for a rug that size (red, white & black). Thank you for the detailed instructions.
That's exactly what I was going to ask. I was wondering if it was 1 shirt of each color?? Love knowing how to do this now!! My grandma made these, & she made some room size ones, however I was too young when she passed away, so I never learned how she made them. So happy I came across this!!
I’ve been pricing rugs and thought that I’d look up a diy video. Since time is money I believe that about $450 for a 8’X12’ is par. I’ll save money by doing it myself and have a custom piece, and the time taken will be equal to any money spent on instant gratification in the form of a pre-fab rug. Thanx for making and posting this video! 😎
It looks so pretty. I made a circular braided rug from old t shirts and fabric scraps. I didn't sew it, but used hot glue( CAUSE I'M NOT SO PATIENT TO SEW IT TOGETHER 😂). It turned fine, for put on my flip flops. Thank you so much for publishing the tutorial. I think that i'm gonna make an other rug, but now OVAL. A kiss from Italy😉
Thank you so much Manang for sharing this beautiful rug making with us. The detailed explanation along with each step is really very helpful and appreciated. Will try and share when I make mine. God bless ⚘⚘🙏🙏
Wow ang galing mo sis malaki na yang nagagawa mo..nung nasa pilipinas ako gumagawa din kami ng basahan meron mga retaso na pahaba na nabibili sa mga garments factory ..Nandito na ako sis nagawa ko na lahat Goodluck and have a nice day.
Yes! Just what I was looking for. My grandparents used to have these rugs around when I was a kids. Time to make NEW for my home! I wonder if I could use old bed sheets?
