Very straightforward easy to follow clear thanks it was wonderful. I must agree with many of the other users in that it would have been nice to demonstrate the cutting of the rounded edge.
Wow! This would make a great, useful gift! Wonderful work!
Good job! I'm always amazed by the creativity on UA-cam!💕
Love this! Such a beautiful way to keep clothes out of a landfill.
Been wondering how this was done. I Love your video's. Thank you so much.
Amber- The strips would get tangled and I had to either keep the balls close and try my best to not let them tangle or I would braid for a little and then untangle the strands then braid then untangle. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
make them into balls out each ball in a sock no tangle
merci
I love this, it's so great and I am trying it now! My t-shirt yarn keeps getting so tangled trying to braid it, I am watching again and again to see how you did it, you made it look so easy! ;o) Thanks for the great tutorial!
Dari Litchman I use a yarn winding device as I go , saves aggravation.
For braiding, try hooking the end knot over the hook of a plant hanger and put big rubber bands around your yarn balls. One might find that using a butterfly (or figure eight) wrap will work better for this.
great suggestion! thank you!
Love this tutorial! I've seen others on how to make these rugs, but yours is super clear! :) Lisa
Great video! I was wondering if I could use sheets instead of shirts? And what size needle did you use to sew it together?
Loved this...will try it...thanks for the video!
thanks! making mine now.
will try this with sheet strips and see if I can hand sew ,thanks for the idea
debby r printed sheets are great when woven together, I use a tapestry needle & upholstery thread.
Awesome. But what needle size did you use?
what a good idea
Thank you 💛💛
A super long time later... great video!
Awesome, Thanks!
How to cut a t shirt i a continous strand
Thank you for this tutorial! Your rug is so cute. May I please ask - if I were to sew this by hand, what kind of needle and thread would I use? Thank you.
You would want a pretty strong needle since you will be going through a lot of fabric and then I would just use a universal thread.
Can you use this design for a place mat
very nice
wowwww
How do you braid it with the strips so long and them not get tangled ?
waw nice doormat
Why should we avoid including the print in the strips?
can we use yarn?
Thanks
hope all
How do you finish your braid?
You galls have shed light into a new place of DIY. You know flip flops have DIY videos? I didn't! Lol I do know it now tho! Yay for house wives!

Do you use?
nice very beautiful
nice
Great tutorial! I have a bunch of T-shirts already braided, but gave up because I didn't want to hand-sew the whole thing! Quick question: when I try to sew it on my machine, the bobbin thread gets all tangled up in the machine underneath. Is that because of my tension? Or do I need a thicker/thinner thread?
are you holding the threads when you start sewing? and make sure the bobbin is threaded correctly. Try those things first. Hope it helps and you can figure it out. Thanks for watching!
hey that's a great idea. I don't have a sewing machine. any other ways to stitch? will the hand stitch be strong enough? thanks
Hafsa Rajshekhar hand stitching would work!
Hafsa Rajshekhar look up videos on topics relating to old ways of the Amish toothbrush rugs. Use their methods or I’m sure you can be led to other ways. Good luck.
I have seen crocheting around the rugs in some tutorials if that helps.
It is a lot more time consuming though.
I also got confused, particularly with the part at the beginning when you go around the first time and you said to curve upward. The video sort of fast forwarded and I wish I could have seen exactly what you did. I'm just going to wing it and try to make sense of it. Thanks for the video!
Megan Daniels Sorry it was confusing. It was hard to film so that it made sense. So if I understand correctly you are confused about the cutting out part? I just curved up so that my strip would continue as one long continuous strip. If I would have just continued to cut straight I would have cut the strip off and then had to of sewn the strips from that shirt back together. So this way I don't have as many strips that need to be sewn together. Does that make sense? I know it can be pretty confusing.
Can we make it a circle shape?
Yes
WAT use machine?
do u have to us a sewing machine????
when I started to sew it is now not just curling up on the end but it is very wavy. How do I keep this from doing this or how do I get it to lay flat?
Make sure you aren't pulling too tight. When you are going around the curve you really need to make sure your not pulling tight or it will curl. To prevent the waving make sure your not pulling tight even on the straight parts.
Hope that helps,Thanks for watching!! :)
do you have a video on a crochet heart shape rag rug
No, unfortunately I do not know how to crochet. Hopefully I will learn one day! Thanks for watching my videos!
what would happen if i didn't cut around print on the shirt would it mess up my rug??
Tesla Travelstead I leave any prints on shirts, it looks pretty cool when woven ,you can’t see very much when it’s all together. Printed sheets used for rugs look great when braided together.
Is there a hand stitch I could use instead of using my machine?
Mandi Lu yes you could do any sort of hand stitching you like to do. You want to connect the rows together so I suggest going back and forth, like a zig zag stitch, so that the rows don’t come apart.
I think I love you.
You should watch Prairie Adventures tutorial on cutting the t-shirts. It's much faster. The rest of your video was very good.
Lorena Boutin
I started my rug and noticed the edges curled..I realised it was tights I have since loosen it..I think I will just try to glue it to a backing
Yes, if you pull too tight on the curves it will curl the edges. I think gluing it would be a great option, as long as it’s not too much glue or it could get scratchy.
I used a hot glue gun and glued it together it turned out fine
Perfect! Thanks for watching :)
your welcome
Olivia Knighton thank you! Good idea!

what kind of sewing machine do you use?
madeintheisles I use the Bernina Aurora 430. Thanks for watching!
madeintheisles
how much does a sewing machine like that cost?
Pepper Ana The one I am using is top of the line and it is around $2500 + but you can get a great starter machine anywhere from $100+
How many T-shirts do you use?
I used about 12 t-shirts. and it made a good size rug for in front of a door. Thanks for watching :)
Beautiful!! I posted a really easy DIY made from recycled tees on my UA-cam page. 😊 ♻️ My kids and i made dog toy from tees!
I have one question, are you saying old tshirts or wool tshirts?
If I don't have a sewing machine, can I do this by hand?
It’s old t-shirts. You could see it by hand it would just take a lot of time and you would definitely need a thimble to get through lots of layers of fabric
Thank you very much.
Arrasou👏👏👏🧶🧶
Super hard

From 3:00 to 3:10 you fast forward and I got lost because I need to know how to do that.
Terris cooper It is a simple braid. I'm sorry I didn't think to film how to do that. I am sure if you search in youtube or google you can find out how to do one. Thanks for watching!
Please is to matche quik make slow. Please slow i like y portuguese . Sorry now well ride. But you extraordinária.
Sorry it was confusing só that it made sente you are confused about the cutting out part?
telma ferreira myself, I use a rotary cutter, scissors can cramp my fingers for cutting that many shirts. There are many videos to watch on how to attach strands without sewing. Heavy duty upholstery thread & a tapestry needle to hand sew the rounds together. I use this for denim, wool, T-shirt fabrics.
When your so rich that u can cut up 5 gucci t shirts
That would be nice... It was easy to cut up my super cheap shirts that had holes in them anyway. 💛
the fatter you are the bigger the rug... i will definitely be using fewer shirts
Boring, get a hook and crochet a rug with strips tied together (slit hole connectors) much easier than this.
i hate this
