Induction smelting nickel ore with cinnabar results in a 100% platinum per nickel ore. Cinnabar is gotten from silktouched redstone ore pulverized in a sieve upgraded pulverizer. Redstone ore being much more common then nickel. This recipe hasn't changed since 1.7.
I was thinking the exact same thing every time DW stuck more nickel ores into the pulverizer. :-]
And then he does it with Ardite later. Why.

Shiny, platinum, oredictionary same metal. Just like mithril and mana infused are the same metal according to the ore dictionary.

Dire, I attuned myself to Aevitas and got 5 platinum ore from the stone around me!!! And platinum ore does not generate naturally in the world!!! SUPER OP!!!

So boring. So I can have ores generate around me, that I then have to mine (while my automated miner is getting them for me anyway) ... or I can attune myself to Discidia and become a death machine. Tough choice really ... not really.
chris909090 But platinum ore doesn’t generate naturally and it’s extremely useful to get precious ores easily. You can easily change back to discidia via shifting star

Silly dire. Nickel + cinnabar = 100% platinum. Cinnabar is Redstone ore pulverized and you can just silk touch your drill and get tons of them.

And with 4 sieve upgrades you get more like 2 platinum ingots per nickle ore! Platinum block base anyone?
he got 1 platinum from over 20 with that setup, seems they severly nerfed that sieve or it does not work on nickel
Tobias - Dire used a pulverizer which has a REEEEEEAAAAALY low base chance of giving platinum as a secondary output so his 4 sieves boosted a slim chance to still slim. The induction smelter + cinnabar has a base chance of 100%. 4 sieves boosts it up in the neighborhood of 200% based on dropping a stack in and getting roughly 128 platinum ingots out. Different machines. I cannot believe DW20 didn't at least click through JEI to see all the machines that make platinum ingots.

Dire if you're trying to automate that farm + watering can. The kitchen sink from cooking for blockheads auto fills the watering can with 1 click. you can use a mechanical user for the click. and use a filter to pull out a full one. Upvote for him to see.

For animal breeding, Dark Utilities mob filters are pretty nice. I usually make a little tower with three floors. The top floor has the breeding adults and the floor is made of Mob Filter: Baby blocks. The babies then fall to the middle floor where the floor is made of Inverted Mob Filter: Baby blocks. Once the babies grow, they'll fall to the bottom floor where the mob grinder kills them.

little known facts. pigs can also be bred with potatoes. i discovered this one day by accident as i had my carrot farm and potatoe farm next to each other near my pig pen and walked past with a potatoe in my hand as they followed me so i right clicked and behold little babies appeared
Have you considered the Cache from Thermal Expansion for storage? Some tin, a servo, and a chest, and you get an item that even at its basic tier can store twenty thousand items (312.5 stacks), with a Resonant one being able to hold five hundred thousand items (7,812.5 stacks). The major downside to them is that there's no equivalent to the Drawer Controller, so you'd have to give each one its own storage bus, but I think the enormous potential storage makes it worth it.
you need to protect your carrot patch! In vanilla, rabbits tear up planted carrots!
Dire you should set up a sewage system for your farms. I saw pigs and power and I got hopeful that you would but u only went half way XD. Add the sewage gates to the pig pen and then you just need a refinery to make fertilizer for your bio fuel farm. It will help a lot till you get the enderium. Plus you could always add another bio reactor or speed that one up
I'm not really familiar with any autobreeding machines, but I believe pigs like beetroots in addition to carrots, so if you automate both beetroot and carrot farms, you'll have double the amount of food for the pigs.
The mob duplicator works with animals, iv done it in one of my worlds with cows and got loads of learher and beef from them. Plus saves on breeding just need the exp
That requires essence though. I've been trying to come up with a way to get enough essence to keep a duplicator running and haven't been very successful. I'm pretty new to modded tho, did you figure something out?
AZbadfish, well i used the cursed earth from ex util2 to get the exp like dire does then turn on the mob dupe till exp is gone then back to the cursed earth. Just got to make sure got decent energy production for both machines
Why don't you pulvrize Redstone Ore (silk touch needed) to get cinnabar, and the smelt the ferrous ore woth the cinnabar in your induction smelter, that gives you a 100% chance to get one platinum ingot per ferrous ore. After that, just pulverzi the platinum igot to get the dust for the enderium blend
That fencepost on the baby separator won't keep pigs from leaving, I think.
Like a lot of other comments have already said, you can put nickel ore and cinnabar into an induction smelter to get 3 nickel and a 100% chance to get platinum. The setup you have now passively gets you some cinnabar when you pulverize gold, but you can also use silk touch on redstone ore and pulverize that to get a much higher chance (50%) for cinnabar.
There's an odd bug with the squid ring that sometimes ports you underground.
Also, bet way I've found to fill the watering can is the Cooking for Blockheads sink... one click, completely full
Silk touch redstone. Put it through that pulverizer with the secondary sieves. Then induction smelt nickel ore with as many secondary sieves as you can with the cinnabar. That will give the highest yields of platinum.
Fluid transposed takes a long time to fill the watering can, instead, use a mechanical user on a source block, then used filtered transfer nodes and pipes to move it from empty to full to another mechanical user to water the crops.
Hey Dire, any plans to mess with the Twilight Forest mod? I was just looking at it last night, and there is a lot of really neat stuff in there now. It's almost it's own journey with progression and everything.
Dire, you can make potions in Industrial Foregoing, combine them with multiple stills to refine and into high level potions. It's going to give you half the potion amount back, per refinement so it takes a bit of time reaching level V potions. Obviously not all potions being refined that high are amazing, so always good to find a balance in between 1 and 5 for some potions.
If Dire were to put a filter into the builder quarry he could have it target nickel only. He'd have stacks of it. Or as a commenter suggested in a previous video, if he inverted the filter to not mine cobblestone, stone and other resources he's voiding, the quarry would be more efficient at providing all ores.
+Direwolf20 You can end your manyullyn woes by using Actually Additions' vertical miner in the nether, in "just ores" mode. You can probably imagine a frame machine with this that will automine like crazy.
Speaking of pigs, ya know what mod I'd love to see get updated? Sync. And maybe have it so that you can use Chisel&Bits with it to make the holding chambers for your clones look different. Would love to have them look like test chamber tubes or something like that. :D
If you want to talk of horrible names, Dire, you can always talk about our practice of getting villagers with good trades as ‘culling the undesirables from society’. :P

You could set up a laser drill, make lenses for extracting more platinum ore and have all the platinum you want
Dire, you can put a crafter directly on an inscriber and just importthe items out, and it works much better!
Interested to see if you keep going this Industrial Foregoing breeding/separating route. I did it with cows, you can add an animal grower and a second baby separator with an adult filter to the baby pen and pull the grown ups out into a third killing pen. It's a big footprint though, and requires tons of food. Not really worth it imo, but I'm curious how a pro would do it xD

With the void ore mine you can get ardite and cobalt too iirc, which are far easier to turn into manyullyn than platinum into enderium
Dire please build the Farm with sandstone , you could create a hole village in Egyptian style if you do that with for example the mobspawner aswell :)

It's odd how Dire will automate some of the more advanced things but forgets to do it with some of the most basic and essential things like sticks.
If you are on version 1.4 of the pack you can add an adult filter to the mob Crusher and it will only kill adult mobs
Why does nickel have to be so rare in Minecraft despite being so common IRL? Recent research agrees that if only 5% of fresh production were skimmed off the world could run of LENR/LANR from it. Thank you nickel for being both cheap and great with the third form of nuclear power. #thenewfire
The chance to get platinum from nickel is only about 5% and each upgrade is a base increase and does not stack, so in a seriousness your chances to get platinum from them is very low. My advice is to use those secondary output sieves for your gold and then go to town with cinnabar related smelting. Also I downloaded your world around episode 10 and I can say that you have adequate resources to make a voice ore miner and solar array tier 1. Use botania for the dye related processes of getting the environmental tech things
Place a second energy cell as a buffer between your cell from RFTools and from Thermal Expansion and set it to a max output of whatever you generate minus whatever your RS system uses so you'll never end up draining your system and being unable to access your storage.
How about right clicking the watering can on a tank thats being filled with a sink? The thermal tanks have the strangely nice function of moving as much liquid as possible. Dont know if that works with the can though..
Make a mobfarm and With the mobfarm u can autospawn enderman. The enderpearls can Be Used to power the enderreactor cells. After that u will Have unlimited power and a Closed pearl-energy curcuit.
Direwolf, can you set up a redstone circuit on your quarry, that uses comparator to stop it running when you're low on power? Not sure what type of gates it would take, but if power is low the quarry stops, and you also would have a manual off lever.
Also mob imprisonment tool on an iron golem for your mob farm is broken as hell and I highly recommend it

Why doesn't the Storage Drawers change when you upgrade them anymore? Their border used to change color based on its upgrade
dire need's to make the Reborn storage crafting mutiblock instead of all those crafters. I built a 5x5 with 6 pages of recipes and 21 of the crafting cpu's. Works so much faster then the base crafter cause I can do 21 crafting operations at the same time instead of having to wait for the crafter to clear before starting the next operation
he also needs to stop using leadstone and upgrade his fluxducts
and I've found that the only thing you need from IC2 is a compressor and a generator... nothing else from there can't be done better elsewhere.
AAAnnnd put some sewers under the pig farms so he can get some fertilizer for his crops
I know, plus overall the Reborn Storage block is cheaper. Just needs gold and iron whereas for the crafters you are spending diamonds. Plus it’s so much better.
Put a cursed eirth mob spawner in the nether using a mob masher with 10 luck upgrades for unlimited gold!

Perhaps the quicksand is designed to move you down faster the faster you're moving, not just let you sink faster. Your crazy bouncy speed could have turned into straight downward speed.

For your power augment you could grind all that coal for refined fuel production to ignition plug dynamos and get something like 640rf/t per dynamo
What I don't get, when you were in the temple in the deep dark, why didn't you just grab all the ingots, etc.. that you MIGHT need and toss in your ender pouch. It's not like you don't have the room.
Dire if you have cinnabar put that and nickel in the induction smelter for a 100% chance to get platinum got over 400 platinum now.

Anyone else having issues not being able to break void ore miner blocks in the 1.4.0 pack?
It is a "security feature", you have to rightclick the blocks now with the Assembler to break them.

I was starting to play a bit of FTB again and firstly had difficulties to find it in the twitch launcher. Meanwhile I found it but I got a thing that anoys me: Within the twitch launcher I can't set the RAM I want the game to be bale to use so I changed it in the minecraft launcher but everytime I start the modpack the RAM I gave the systhem resets. Is there a way to permanantly increase the RAM the game may use?
on the twitch launcher, click the down arrow next to your name on the top right corner then click "settings" on the dropdown menu that appears, click on the "Minecraft" section on the left side of the popup menu and scroll all the way down and you should see a slider for RAM

I'd say it's the better route either way. Manyullyn is pretty useless after you got your tinker tools the way you want them. Enderium has may other uses...
That's why I choose manyllyn for the turbines :), better usage for the ores that I'm voiding already :)

At this point in the series I.e the amount of time he has been doing it both off cam and on cam I have more than 200x the resources and power gen he has. I get trying to prolong the series but this is too much Direwolf20

Hey dire me and my girl play your pack all the time but the other day my world isn't loading and we both were working very hard on it and it just wont load at all is there any fix other then make a new world cause i spent countless hours building all the goodies inside.
You should have automatic backups inside the minecraft folder. Worst case you lose an hour or so...
If they worked. The Forge backup fails about 50% of the time for me.
