I'm loving just the slight effort that you're putting in to make your base look nice. I'm not much of a builder myself, so even having a themed base with cool textures is nice by my standards. I think the amount of focus that you have on design and aesthetic is pretty much spot on for your content. Viewers come here for the "action" of your device builds, not so much for the visuals. Even so, everyone likes seeing a nice background for the builds to live on.
And randomly place a whole bunch of floating lights everywhere that wouldn’t look very good. Also, unless it’s changed, those lights aren’t breakable - you actually have to put a block on them to get rid of them (unlike Psi lights which are the absolute best solution for temporary lighting.)
Little Tip for you Dire and anyone else. 1. Set up a Mob Farm 2. have an External Storage for the Solidified Experience that drops. 3. Output Solidified Experience into a Mechanical User from EX2 4. Put a Mob Grinder from Industrial Foregoing infront of the Mechanical user with One Block apart. (Grinder Picks up the Experience Orbs and turns them into Essence) 5. Have the Grinder output the Essence to a Fluid Tank. (You can hook up an External Storage to it for easy Access of your Essence 6. Set the Mechanical user to redstone only and put a comparator next to the Fluid Tank and put a Redstone line of decent Length to it so it stops using Solidified Experience when the Tank gets full. Boom you now have Infinite Amounts of Essence that you can just export to all your Future Mob Duplicators. If you set one up just make sure to have a Drawer with an External Storage for the Solidified Experience you get from Future Farms and adjust the amount of Speed Upgrades in the Mechanical User depending on your Essence Production and you will never have to Worry about Essence at all
well cut that short and use the XU2 spawners and the @mob_grinding_utils grinder. Its upgradable, needs no power and lets xp orbs as well as solidified xp being dropped.
Unless they found a fix to it, putting Solidified Experience in to a Mechanical user causes a repeating crash, until you somehow destroy the Mechanical user. This is caused by the solidified Experience being added directly to the users Xp, but as the Mechanical user is a fakeplayer, it aren't able to hold Xp like a normal player.
There's good and bad here. The Good: varied colors, uses, blocks, designs, makes it look good. The glowstone could be chiseled or hidden, but overall, it's a functional and moderately nice-looking sub basement. The Bad: The room is too big. It should be broken up with columns, or walls, or something. I actually would've liked having the mob spawner out of the corner. Would drive home that it is a 'device' in itself. You also kept saying 'theme' which doesn't apply here... a building has a theme, a room doesn't. A catacomb would fit as a basement to a pyramid, a workman's basement doesn't. But my biggest critique is what it usually is... bigger emptier rooms isn't better. The original basement was huge for just the reasons this one is even bigger, yet 90% of that space is vacant. Heck, 90% of the top floor is vacant. There's no 'upper floor' yet. But the reason for all that is... You like things along edges and nearby in general... and there's an easy solution to that. Try building vertically. Stacked 9x9s, linked by elevators. Could even use different color elevators for quicker access to rooms. Imagine, a main floor with the white column-vator, but in the corner, a black one straight down to the spawner area. A red one to Thermal, an orange one to IC2... or just a couple jumps to anywhere. And overall, if there's say 3 blocks between each floor, wires hide. A single stripe of wire down a corner unites the power system. It's elegant and simple and close-by. My 2 cents. I know I'm in the minority, but thought it was worth critiquing. You are definitely trying, and that's good to see. There's a couple tutorials/not-do's that you could look at. Thanks overall for keeping Minecraft entertaining.
I agree with you, but dislike the stacked up 9x9 idea. He should have a long hallway that has rooms at both sides. Those rooms can be 9x9's, and some of those can be 18x9's if need be. This would also fit well with a pyramid. And a pyramid with glasses? just no. He shouldn't have put down glasses if you ask me. And he could really use the hieroglyphs from chisel mod in his pyramid.
This is one of the best comments I’ve seen on this channel. Well reasoned *constructive* feedback. I’m guilty of the oversized areas myself, but I do it because I always prefer to err on the side of too big vs. not big enough (which is far worse.). I’m fine with him building out a large area because I think one of his challenges in the past has come from trying to cram everything into a 9x9. I actually think this is the root cause of Direwire. At any rate, he could use some the ideas you outlined above to segment up his large spaces once he has a sense of what he’s building in there and how much room he needs.
DoormanJoe I concur with this idea. It's nice to see him trying, and the palette he used was good imo. He's definitely getting better, and constructive criticism is the best way to help him continue to do so.
The more you have going on in a chunk the laggier it gets. That's the main problem with the vertical approach I see get suggested so often.3 levels across 4-6 chunks isn't bad, so it's good he has a lot of empty space.
dire, its not that people LIKED your main basement its more that they liked that you put the effort in to make it look nice.we dont watch you for your -ahem- building skills, we watch for your explanations and progressions through modpacks and also the was you ASMR "Niiiiice" every so often, and say things like "hooray" but when you do put a little effort to make a build look nice AND be functional its nice! :)
“dire it’s not that people LIKED your main basement ...” - My parents always told me that if I don’t have something nice to say, then don’t say anything at all. Sage advice.
since i'm like dire - all about automation... (creative building? can i eat that?) its nice to see. Motivates me to do that too. Okay i confess... i STILL just moved a nice building from LC to the overworld to be my base. 4 chunks is expensive talking in RF - but for me definitely worth it. the ugly blocks can easily be exchanged once i moved in and set up my stuff.
I tend to go into creative mode when building structural "shells," then go back to survival when it comes time to run wires and all the actually fun bits.
Thanks Direwolf20 another fabulous video! Check out the Supersoundmuffler mod if you want to muffle a certain sound but hear everything else. Also, if you put a normal bow or armor piece in the servo and set "Use NBT" you can send the regular items to trash and save the enchanted ones. Peace and Happy Holidays to all!
Going to be honest with you Dire, I like the look of the new basement far more than the look of the rest of the new base. Why? Because it's not just one colour. The pyramid itself is fine, but the first basement is a bit boring with the same colour on the walls, floors and ceiling. Having different colours and textures makes the new basement far more interesting to look at!
Nice job with the fancy sub-basement Dire! Using multiple textures that go well together really makes a difference when you want to make something look fancy. :)
Love the sub-basement! Would like the ceiling to be like the walls but you’re doing a great job! Shame you don’t have some smaller lights, instead of just glow stone. Maybe another mod in the future....🙂
chris909090 i have never really played too much with ET, heard it's a cool mod but never played any modpack that would include it for long enough. so far i've played skyfactory 3 (the only mp that included ET), a custom modpack (no ET) and foolcraft (playing now, no ET again), and i'm looking forward to creating a modpack that would include environmental tech. will have to check out this block combo, thanks for your suggestion :)
you could put your mobfarm simply into a compact maschine so no need to worry about escaping whatever you span and you can move it around whenever you want
Awesome basement, really like it :). Too make it a little better, you could put the lever of the spawner one block lower, and place the transmitter behind the glowstone
At least the basement is different. Still Dire textured, but different! :D And the mob farm being made of Tyrian, that is absolutely a thing Dire does! I like Tyrian a lot, enough that whenever he uses it as a mob farm texture, I don't mind, not at all! :D
Hey Dire great game you might want to do a series on: "oxygen not included". Amazing automation and management game. I think it would be a nice play through on your channel.
New version of the sound muffler - you make one of the normal ones, then surround it in a crafting grid with the drops of the mobs (passive and hostile) that you want it to mute. Want it to mute your livestock, but still let you hear creepers? Just surround it by eggs, beef, pork, and mutton.
31:00 Hey Direwolf, instead of voiding out you could use the mod "Giacomo's foundry" that allow you to break down the gold armor/weapon into usable gold.
Today, direwolf finally became a decend builder. Keep in mind that you are not allowed to ever go back to 9x9s. From now on, its nice stuff only, kay? :)
you can make WAY more moonstone, for the dark ineffable glass, with unstable ingots. and in this version, unstable ingots are super easy to get, compared to how it used to be.
But no, Dire wants the challenge of building it over a ravine. :D I suppose he's gotta learn how to deal with Industrial Foregoing's spawning mechanics somehow! :D
if you only plan on using the spawner, you can leave the room lit all the time. i have one room with cursed earth that i can light with a switch, used to gather essence for the spawner... but my other room with the spawner is always lit.
I think i know why there's endermen in there all of a sudden. The mob spawner.... I'll just bet it has a 9x9 area of effect. it ought to be in the center of a room where there is 4 blocks of space between it and the walls.
There is a function missing in the meecreeps mod. When i set him to build stairs, and he cant find enough stones for a while, he should proclaim, that he is not supposed to exist that long and turn aggressive!
Chisel itself leaves a bit to be desired, IMHO. For instance, the way connected textures work, except for where you want them to look differently, makes interesting patterns for some textures, but I wish I could silk touch a particular chiseled connected texture and have all subsequently placed blocks assume that connected texture no matter where I place them.
Having the same issues with my mob duplicator. I want all the ducts going beneath the killing rooms so it doesn't allow me to place it in the floor as I will have spawns in my service-tunnels for the ducts... And placing it in mid air in the room would have ducts or tanks in every room thus making it look AWFUL....
Hey dire, probably mentioned already but the iChisel lets you change all the stacks in your inventory instead of having to do each stack manually. Also, the builder's wand works with the dank/null (careful with the unbreakable one! That thing will place an entire inventories worth of blocks and there's no undo lol)
So some recommendations on the basement to make it "pop" even more...change out the third or fourth "row" up with standard smooth stone---make the connected border texture show up.
Good entertaining episode. To the point where I lost track of time. Also you could always use a filing cabinet for the bows and other enchanted items (wait, that is here right, lol).
I think you can Use the saw from chisel to make the glowstone into nooks. Nooks give off as much light as a full block, and you can get many from just 1 block of glowstone.
Can somone here explain to me how this morphing works ? Is that a tool ? He used it but I cant find any vid (I did not see all of them full) were he explain how this works...
Actually adittion lamps chained together can be controlled with one controller :) I like that you are trying to have better looking stuff for all the wievers with minecrafOCD ;P Thumbs up!
well done with the spawner mate. Maybe think about XU2 spawners? You got the dough (diamonds) to empower. so convert vanilla spawners into desired ones and grab them with the drop of evil. No power used, redstone sensitive. Oh spawner shards you say? salvage the Lost Cities (two diamond blocks under a bed that's surrounded with skulls - not that hard is it?)
If this continues as it is, the pyramid will stay empty and everything will be inside the 20 level basement.
There's only so much one can fit into a 9x9 room. Immersive Engineering doesn't even fit anywhere remotely into that kind of space. :D
clean and tidy. one has to have space to dance around in the neat base!
DarkVoidIII then again there is the mod "compact machines"... ;)
dire ... no need to pull blocks out of the null to use them with the builders wand .. the wand will pull them out of the null :)
yeah just realised that myself today while playing. Neat feauture! and the emerald upgrade is not just expensive but WOAH!
I learned something new. This is why I wade through the cesspool of YT comments each episode - there’s always a good nugget in here somewhere.
That's dank
I like how at 28:02 Dire's "In theory" wakes up Siri 😂

Cave illuminator on top of the pyramid would light up your entire building down to lowest level. As long there is a single hole between each floor.
It would also illuminate the mob farm, which would be less than ideal.
And randomly place a whole bunch of floating lights everywhere that wouldn’t look very good. Also, unless it’s changed, those lights aren’t breakable - you actually have to put a block on them to get rid of them (unlike Psi lights which are the absolute best solution for temporary lighting.)

4. Put a Mob Grinder from Industrial Foregoing infront of the Mechanical user with One Block apart.

Yeah exactly... im still used to the Minefactory Reloaded names xD
Mastier you could use the subtraction mode on the comparator to allow for shorter lines, but power the comparator from the side
is there still a sewer block
well cut that short and use the XU2 spawners and the @mob_grinding_utils grinder. Its upgradable, needs no power and lets xp orbs as well as solidified xp being dropped.

neenmach He could use sneaky torches from Dark Utilities and make them look like any block he wants, or totally hide them.
Happy for sure I like basement a lot
personally i like to use basalt with marble, preferrably basalt - wide bricks and marble - bricks. they have a nice contrast and that's what i like
iLiquid Yep, that’s a nice combo. I’ve used ET basalt and alabaster as well - really hope the ET author brings those back.
chris909090 i have never really played too much with ET, heard it's a cool mod but never played any modpack that would include it for long enough.

You can try to use XNet to make spawner work (it can transfer redstone signal, items, fluids and power, as you know😄 )
you could put your mobfarm simply into a compact maschine so no need to worry about escaping whatever you span and you can move it around whenever you want
compact machines nest too. I moved my whole base into compact machines... I can carry it anywhere, it's one block now.
Awesome basement, really like it :). Too make it a little better, you could put the lever of the spawner one block lower, and place the transmitter behind the glowstone
Am I seeing some editing skills in this video
52. x.2 Where?
h4mza f3yat in a several moments but one of them in 7:17
See how he didn't take a moment to turn off the recording he jumped cut in split seconds
52. x.2 Right...

I mean, i like 9x9s
i can build but i dont care if it looks good as long as its functional
Decent builder? he's fucking everything up with blocks that has connected textures.
stavik96 dude keep your comments PG please
Best comment I've seen all day
you seem to be enjoying building new stuff, dire! nice work!
the pallet is a little weird, but its nice to see you try new things
you can make WAY more moonstone, for the dark ineffable glass, with unstable ingots. and in this version, unstable ingots are super easy to get, compared to how it used to be.
shoulda just build the mob room into the wall of the sub basement..
But no, Dire wants the challenge of building it over a ravine. :D I suppose he's gotta learn how to deal with Industrial Foregoing's spawning mechanics somehow! :D
I like the color scheme of the basements basement 😁.
Use structureducts on the fluxducts combined with chiseled sandstone. I think it has CTM
I think I saw the Tree of Time when you clicked through the botanic miner outputs.
Yeah who needs iron, redstone and glowstone from a mob farm? Apparently not Dire! lol
Your sub-basement looks great!
if you only plan on using the spawner, you can leave the room lit all the time.
i have one room with cursed earth that i can light with a switch, used to gather essence for the spawner... but my other room with the spawner is always lit.
I absolutely love the level of decorating you're doing to the base. Thank you for entertaining us for years
mostly cool subbasement but ya need to break up the walls like use a different texture for the middle row of the walls
JDL2150 this is Direwolf.
Be glad it’s not cobble
Gg dire good job :) love the look
I think that ceiling of sub-basement should be from the same material as the floor. 3 colors are bit too much.
Dire has very much improved on his skills with making stuff look nice. I approve of the sub basement
when he said, "in theory" his phone thought he said, "hey siri" lol
Xnet cable runs power, fluids, items and redstone all in 1. Just use that.
I think i know why there's endermen in there all of a sudden. The mob spawner.... I'll just bet it has a 9x9 area of effect. it ought to be in the center of a room where there is 4 blocks of space between it and the walls.
And today we learned that rabbits make a "beep" sound. 27:30
There is a function missing in the meecreeps mod. When i set him to build stairs, and he cant find enough stones for a while, he should proclaim, that he is not supposed to exist that long and turn aggressive!
that one sandstone on top of the Pyramid drives me crazy
I have been seeing you for 5 years direwolf and this is the first season that you really put in work in making your base nice
GreekRebel what about the season with the magic tower?
Vincent Frisina From what season is the tower?
And that one with the greenhouse.
9:43 the chisel plays the westminster chimes
i mean, i kinda like the celitc pattern, if it didnt have CTM
but, it does tie in nicely with your above ground, so all good
Dire "In theory"
Dire's Phone "Hey Siri?"
28:00 "In theory" -> Siri activates
Gaming Legacy 'Cause it sounds like "Hi Siri")
Good work Dire, I do not believe that I am alone in saying the effort put into making things look nicer is greatly appreciated.
Speaking about Mob Spawners: How is Blood Magic doing?
Good job dire. I love your video's, I allways learn from your vids!
Did he change the mod spawning room to face a different direction mid way through ? I had to re-watch. When he puts four lamps on it swaps around :S
28:04 "in theory" = "hey siri" lol
Dire no!!! The basalt behind the wall changes the texture pattern inside the room!!!! My mc-ocd is making me mad!! Plz fix! xD
they added the botanic miner and gave it the resource miners texture
Confirmed dire has iphone XD "in theory" = "hey siri" hence the ding in the background after filling in under the mob spawner
Dire you should use those sneaky torches from Dark Utilities
Hey Dire, could you do a spotlight on NuclearCraft? I’m not sure if it’s in your pack, but it’s in the latest big FTB pack, and I’m pretty confused.
Hmm wait.... Why didn't dire chisel the glowstone on the ground....?
He said previously he didn't care for any of the glowstone chisel textures anymore than the vanilla one that he's already used to so...
The chisel glowstone textures aren't that great. Only one that's OK but not great is the neon one. The glowstone ones need some TLC IMO.
the neon one used to be a lot prettier in the past, I don't know why they made it ugly in this version of chisel.
Agree, the chiseled glowstone is fugly.
Chisel itself leaves a bit to be desired, IMHO. For instance, the way connected textures work, except for where you want them to look differently, makes interesting patterns for some textures, but I wish I could silk touch a particular chiseled connected texture and have all subsequently placed blocks assume that connected texture no matter where I place them.
dire: in theory!
siri: BEEP
28:00
Having the same issues with my mob duplicator. I want all the ducts going beneath the killing rooms so it doesn't allow me to place it in the floor as I will have spawns in my service-tunnels for the ducts... And placing it in mid air in the room would have ducts or tanks in every room thus making it look AWFUL....
This basement looks super good, the textures go great together, great job Dire !
Light up the ravine, mobs are coming from there
Make a angel ring, so much easier to fly with
Nice sub-basement! Keep up the good work.
I am mighty proud of your aesthetic choice for your basement!
I love that you're making the base look cool :) also it's great that you're giving the base themes
Notification Squad 👏 #diretime
i noticed that every basement u build on this season was above a cave
"In Theory...." *Siri turns on*
Is woot not in this mod pack?
Basalt = best block
Wow! That new tech room (basement) looks really nice. Exchangers may be Dire's ultimate building tools. #switcheroo
How do you download the world?
NICE JOB DIRE!!! AWESOME BASEMENT
28:01 "in theory" *siri activates*
Hey dire try making a signalum blade for your tinkers sword , i saw it on other modpack you get around 38 dmg
I just tried it, doesn't appear to work in this modpack
28:00 iPhone thought dire was Sean Connery
Vég néztem eddiaz összes rész és mindenyikből újjat tanultam
I like the basalt and I really appreciate you trying to make your base look nice
So some recommendations on the basement to make it "pop" even more...change out the third or fourth "row" up with standard smooth stone---make the connected border texture show up.
For your buliding skills,we have very low expectations!!!!!
Good entertaining episode. To the point where I lost track of time.
Also you could always use a filing cabinet for the bows and other enchanted items (wait, that is here right, lol).
At 28:01
Direwolf: In theory...
Siri *ding*
Niiiice :D
I like it.
Highlight: 23:42
Diretime!!
I think you can Use the saw from chisel to make the glowstone into nooks. Nooks give off as much light as a full block, and you can get many from just 1 block of glowstone.
Ender men are 3 blocks tall if you put a floor on the level below the fluiducts... they shouldnt spawn
Dire I love the base man looks really good and different from all your other bases
Can somone here explain to me how this morphing works ? Is that a tool ? He used it but I cant find any vid (I did not see all of them full) were he explain how this works...
dire, you should upgrade your chisel tool to the advance one so you can chisel all blocks at one time and also see the pattern in advance
Actually adittion lamps chained together can be controlled with one controller :) I like that you are trying to have better looking stuff for all the wievers with minecrafOCD ;P Thumbs up!
howd he morph into a bat?
well done with the spawner mate.
