I would LOVE being the one on the floor finding little treasures, albeit with a ton of trash and dirt-but that's just part of the process!! My husband cleaned out old houses, barns, and whatever was asked of him. Those were in his younger to mid-years when something old was worth selling to get the monetary value instead. He told me about all the neat things he had found. I have always thought of having someone ask me to help them do cleanouts, but living in Mass. my chances were slim to none. He grew up in the heart of the White Mountains of N.H.. He had friends everywhere. Older folk would call him to come and save them from those old dusty things that needed getting rid of. People inheriting homes were happy to make room for more modern living, such utter foolishness !!! I happened upon your first video and I was enthralled, anticipating what would be around the next corner under all those piles of stuff. My husband and I will be watching avidly from our home in NH waiting to see your lives change as you go through the up and downs of your latest adventure...good luck !!!
I saved an old buffet, with a drawer missing, and a glass hutch exactly like yours, from a burn pile in the backyard of a yardsale i went to several years ago. I hosed them down and let them dry, then refinished them. I have the glass hutch in my very large bathroom being used to display my guest towels and cloths with a few antique pieces of pottery and crocks with handmade soaps from an amish farm, prewrapped toothbrushes and old mason jars with lids and clasps holding cotton swabs and balls, and small flower and greenery displays throughout. I have a large window that allows me to put a few ivy plants on top of the hutch. It really gives it a spa feel in there. I have the buffet in my dining room. I replaced the drawer guides where the drawer was gone with a thin piece of good plywood and i use that space for tablecloths and doilies. They are beautiful conversation pieces and add way more charm and sense of home than anything i could buy brand new. Times are so hard today, give folks a chance to salvage what you deem to be trash. Please consider having an indoor sale once the true yucks are cleaned up. Maybe pick those two rooms separated by the bifold doors, to stage the old furniture and milk glass and dishes and let people come make you an offer and let the proceeds go towards the house. There are far more artistic, penny pinching, lovers of old than you may think!
It is a beautiful home. I would suggest wearing some disposable booties and maybe Tyvek suits while you are decluttering. Especially when you start in the kitchen. I saw those QST magazines when you entered the house the first time. I assume the previous owner was a ham radio operator. My father had those same magazines. I don't know if they are worth anything, but you could ask around. Fun times! I look forward to seeing the progression.
Glad to see your wife on again. Seeing you both working together gives the rest of us courage to tackle big projects. :-) The house is awesome and will be beautiful when you're done.
If you need/want income, some of the items on the floor and stove are either antique or vintage. See if you can find someone to help you sell it on social media ??? Just a suggestion. Really enjoying the series.
Looks like your house has the "fake fireplaces" just like ours in CT. These were dressed areas of the chimney that one could install a flue to from a coal or wood burner - later a gas one could be retro-fitted. We have 2 of these from when the house was remodeled in 1840's. One may be able to install a real fireplace or insert in the 1rst floor unit. Great fun seeing your progress.
Excited to see your videos on Sunday. I thought you found some cool stuff. Love that cabinet. It will be awesome refinished. Surprised the glass wasn’t broken. Stay safe and keep those masked on for sure!
I also have a truck of requirement but I call mine my Craigslist truck because I was always buying stuff on Craigslist and I needed a truck to haul it. Your truck actually look better than mine. Mine could easily be mistaken for an abandoned vehicle. LOL
So glad to have found y’all so early in the process. (Subscribed last week, lol). Your home is beautiful and I loved watching you unbury her from years of overgrowth. She’s going to be stunning when you get done!
Love your house project! I just finished the restoration of our 1847 home here in Indiana. It was abandoned for over years. Good luck and I love the videos.
2 garbage cans with wheels and a wheelbarrow. One garbage can for burns Les the other for small trash. Wheelbarrow for trucking larger objects to dumpster or truck. Save yourself some steps
Man this house is so much bigger than it looks from the outside. The rooms that have walls built within the rooms. Just amazing. Can’t imagine what you guys will find.you guys need some semis to load that stuff in.
Check the things you find to see if it is worth anything. The bottom of the glass wear you can Google see if it's valuable before you get rid of it. I would hold on to that Bible though, hold on to it and do some research before you decide what you want to do with it. Keep them masks on and stay safe, please. Great job so far!
That computer (looks Commodore to me but I don't quite recognise the model) might be sellable, including the CRT screen. Definitely has some 80s vibes about it.
The removal of the brush in front has made such a difference. A beautiful piece of architecture.
Nice work! Might want to clean the camera lens every now and then!😊

The old windows are lovely. Hope you consider saving them!

What a job in a half … geez Louis . But it’ll be worth it in the end..
Ok you got me as a new viewer. I'm hooked wishing I was there helping.

It’s official, I’m addicted to your show!!!
I also live in Upstate NY. When I saw your fire, I said "Hmmmmm,... he doesn't know about the fire ban." LOL! Keep up the good work!
The two wood_stoves look in good condition. I hope you keep the bi-fold doors. They are awesome!
Excited to see your videos on Sunday.

Great video and thank you for fixing the volume. I didn't want to upset people but I guess I did. I subscribed also.

Keep on going, one room at a time.
Really coming along!! ❤
Great job guys , so happy you’re sharing this with us ❤
When I was doing genealogy, there were several websites for old photographs. I was able to find pictures of the farm I grew up on.
The only thing I think is...What a Mess!😮
That round wooden table is worth $$. I had a similar one that was worth $300. It was a Ethan Allen table. Good luck!
My aunt had a black metal phone back in the 50s. But it was old then maybe from thirties.
You will be working with its bones to rebuild it all. But, it will be so worth it!
Could the wood be cypress? It is impervious to insects and rarely rots. It was used a great deal in the 19th century here in the south.
That computer (looks Commodore to me but I don't quite recognise the model) might be sellable, including the CRT screen. Definitely has some 80s vibes about it.
Usually the padded ones are to help keep the cold out.
That phone probably was 40’s or 50’s. I remember our exchange in North Buffalo was TR5
Watching this channel and your work on this house is amazing! But why Caribbean music???
Things like the phone and especially the Bible, could be sold on eBay and probably fetch a great price.
Better relocate the squirrel before new York State DEC raids your home!
It’s probably tearing up another old house about 5 miles away
I have a deep water barrel that I place those traps. Fast kill of rodents, plus the trap is rinsed. They gnaw thru the sofits and nest in the attic.
You’re going to need a ton of contractor garbage bags!
❤
The Bible is probably “The family Bible”. Look for family info.
Temporary fix window holes with perspex.
It’s a real phone.take your stuff to antique dealer. Oh those flower are 25.00 dollars a piece
It's real but someone turned it into a prop by painting it red and sticking that "Hot Line" label on.
Do you guys sell items anywhere?
Wow! You poor folks!!
😮😮😮😮😮😮😮🎉
Can you find me one house like that too? I would like to buy it
Yep, floors are toast. That’s too bad.
They can’t be sanded flat?? I have no idea. Truly asking.
@ not once they are buckled at the edges like that. Water got under them and warped the floor boards☹️
The joist underneath are compromised as well, so they’re all coming out someday unfortunately
👋🏼🇩🇰
Can't wait to see you move that motorhome.not going to be fun.
I agree
Do you know what year the house was built?
1815!
Thata a British phone
I subscribed until you started trapping (and killing) animals.
Well one did manage to get killed in the have a heart but that wasn’t the intention. I let the other one go a few miles away. Haven’t seen one since!
