Even though I don't have an E23 (or even a car as I am only 15), I still found the video useful and entertaining. I will have to say that you have a great speaking voice and I find it calming.
I really appreciate the great video! I’m working on mine as we speak, follow directions to a tee, but now that I have everything together, my temperature sensor and my gas gauge are both pegged to the right! I took a quick drive, they stayed pegged. When I parked and shut the vehicle off they both return to their normal position. Please let me know what you think, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks so much!
Have you gone back to the instrument to remove the ATG's batteries & install 2 new one? Since those ATG's were Ni-Cad. I installed 2 AA NiMh batteries. Anyone knows if the circuit can recharge or have NiMh in circuit? Because it's a pain taking the instrument cluster in & out & prone to break those cables/plugs since the car is over 40 years old. I installed ATG's LED lights rather than those regular bulbs. My ATG M7 sat & garaged for over 23 years. I think it's about time to get this horse out of the barn. So I am going to install those batteries outside and under the steering wheel panel.
Hi, i have a e24 and the mpg gauge just stayed at 0 most of the time some time bounce to 50 and very little time working properly, this happen very lately, and all other meters working properly, what could be the problem of it?
Thank you, I really appreciate the support :) It could possible be a faulty SI board, that is the most common issue with this generation of BMW across all the models. The batteries can fail or leak or you can have a cracked soldering joint or even faulty electronic component. Mine's been acting up a bit, slowly getting some other stuff caught up so I can looking into it again. After the cleaning, other gauges were working better but I still have a faulty speedometer.
I know this is a reply to a 2 year old comment, but much has changed and new things are available. Most likely your odometer gears have failed. It's not uncommon for the original plastic gears to literally crumble. There are gear sets readily available via an eBay search.
I tried changing odometer gears but still not working....I will try cleaning the contacts....Also temp gauge flickers a lot...I have to tap the top of the dash to wake it up!

Awesome to hear and thank you so much for the feedback! I really appreciate it :)
Super helpful, thank you
No problem, happy to help :)
Hi great video. Can you do a video with led bulb upgrades? And show it turned on at night. I have 84 733i. Love it.
Thank you! Yes I will be upgrading to LED bulbs, just need to order them and I can certainly do a video on this.
Another amazing video! :D

Hello. My e23 cluster needs new batteries and a few bulbs. How much would you charge if I sent it to you to go through it?
I don't offer such services, I just produce tutorial videos.
Anyone knows where I can get a Camshaft or Camshaft Kit for my M7 (mod from 735i/M635CSI) that's not going to hurt my piggy bank?

@@4DIYersdid you ever get to fix the speedometer? Mine is not working either.
Hey,
I have an e23 735i and my odometer stopped working, if I cleaned all the connectors would it fix my issue?
Best regards,
Common issue with many old BMWs. It could be dirty contacts inside the cluster, failed batteries, and failed speed sensor or wiring.

@@1983dmd did you fix it?
@@Rockelement No...will have to give it another try or send it to be rebuilt...
Which kind of batteries it needs the cluster?
AA NiCad batteries.
