  • Miss Cartwright is hired to be the new governess to young Pamela. Cartwright immediately dismisses Pamela's beloved nanny, Mrs. Murphy, and finds a punishment room for the child in the basement. Pamela's favorite toy is a stuffed tiger, which becomes the focus of Pamela's revenge against the dictatorial governess. Strange and ominous things begin to happen that can only be explained as psychic phenomena.

I wish they had showed just a brief shot of an actual real tiger in all it’s ferocious glory, standing in the darkness, up close, letting out a fearsome roar, about to pounce....that would have made this episode one of the truly great ones ever. Still good.....but oh, to see that tiger. The little girl was priceless.

Sounds like her tiger became a Tulpa. A "Tulpa" is a concept in Tibetan theosophy, mysticism, and the paranormal, of an object or being that is created through intense spiritual or mental powers. I like to believe it's where the wing gremlin came from in the Twilight Zone. It was a real being created from a person's sheer terror.

She was very cruel and most likely abused herself. What a dreadful woman. Very wicked and full of her own agenda: most assuredly to charm the father when he did arrive like an evil FRAULEIN MARIA but this is not The Sound of Music! Great acting! I loved this one too! Poor Miss Murphy, I hope she and Pamela get reunited afterwards.

I wish, at the very end, they had shown the shadow of a real, giant lion padding forward in the darkness, then, highlighted in the shadows, a closeup of the fearsome giant cat letting out a mighty roar of rage. This would have made it one of the great episodes of all time.Still really great with the wonderful job the little girl did here, pitted against the controlling shrew.
