This was from the Rough Diamonds LP. I remember reading an interview years ago where Paul claimed he hated this LP and vowed ever to perform any songs from it. LMAO.
@@rayjr62 Not sure why he would say that. But the transition between 70's rock and early 80's was awkward for a lot of bands. But to me this song captures essence of that time. It has this weird neon lit, rainy, dystopian vibe that fits into the reality of today.
@@theakh4238 Not sure either. But I think I might have an idea- If you remember, this LP Rough Diamonds was released in September, 1982, but had been recorded and was in the can well over a year earlier. Supposedly the band members (Boz Burrell and Rogers) got into a big fistfight in the control room of the studio where this album was made. Both were unhappy with the material and the direction the band was going. Soon after the LP was recorded the original four members went their separate ways. So, by 1982 Bad Company was more or less no more.
Bad Company were a brilliant British band..still are, but they never (IMO) got the recognition they quite rightly deserved. Paul’s voice is unrivalled, the musicianship of the band is top notch. I remember getting into BC back in late 80’s when my musical knowledge was broadening , I first came across them after my friend gave me all his Free LP’s to listen to (which I loved) which made me curious about finding more music like theirs and that led me to BC. Now 35 years on I’m still a massive fan of this extraordinary band
"Electric Land" Yeah The neon lights go flashing by Electric Land is in my eyes The underworld is on the move And everybody gots something to prove Yeah The taxi driver delivers the news Somebody out there has blown a fuse We pass the scene a man is dead A thirty eight blew away his head A jolt of lightning set's me back a pace Feel like a prisoner from outer space Please excuse me if I don't quite understand I'm a stranger in Electric Land, yeah Yeah Need to be willing to have a good time You live for the moment the moment is fine You're up in your room the lights are low Before you know it's time time time time for the show Deep crashes up and down my spine I am super charged, I must be blind Please excuse me if I don't quite understand I'm a stranger in Electric Land Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah Electric Land I see you Electric land I've been there I've been there I've been there
These guys are from England...more power to them...they had such a raw sound of rock n roll....I always thought they were Americans...but I never asked either...what a band they playing longer than the Energizer Bunny...and from what I heard they are still kicking booty...
This is unbeievably awesome! If I would have been in that front row I would have went insane. This is my favorite BC song and man did they do it great! Pauls voice sounds the same after all these years and Mick on guitar was unreal!
He sings it A LOT BETTER on the record than he does live. This song is way better on the record. I was not impressed by this live version. His vocals are off & the guitar is WAY OFF. Wtf?
This LP came out in August, 1982. It was been recorded a year before, and by the time it came out the band had already broken up. Paul Rogers had gotten into a fistfight with Boz Burrell in the recording studio during the recording of this LP. Rogers wanted to keep doing the hard rock thing, and the other members wanted to go in a top 40 direction. And I guess this settled on songs like this.
Saw these guys with Triumph. Bad Company opened. They played this song s their encore - Triumph had a hard time getting the crowd back. After Triumph finished we all screamed for Bad Company.
I Love This, but it doesn't have the rythym guitar riff that plays the same as the piano chorus like studio version does, or if so then it's not mixed quiet right, so it's not noticeable! That guitar rythym riff on the Chorus along with the piano would make this version really Pop! I still like this Live version though. I love where Paul Rodgers sings, "Chills down My Spine, I'm Supercharged, I must be flying"!
They did this song correctly in concert with lead singer Robert Hart. Paul missed the mark on this live version where Robert Hart nailed this song live perfectly.
One of their best tunes and he's singing it wrong. And the guitar parts are like WTF? So off and not a good version of the tune. Robert Hart sang this song perfectly for Bad Company in concert & nailed the vocals.
Robert Hart was equally just as good on "Company Of Strangers" album if not better. You can thank Robert Hart for he BAD CO reunion with Paul. Robert Hart is the only reason Paul rejoined the band because Paul realized his vocals in BAD CO had been totally replaced. Listen to "Company Of Strangers" LP and it's a fresher better version of what Paul USE TO BE.
In Christian numerology, the number 888 represents Jesus, or sometimes more specifically Christ the Redeemer. A thirty eight 3(8) blew away his head. Ephesians 4:15 “But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:” Matthew 24:27 “For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.” the sun may rise in the east at least it's settled in a final location. What you see is Californication.
Pairing him with Queen was quite an odd idea... THIS is the kind of music Rodgers excells in. Queen should have gone for someone with vocals closer to Mercury, Rodgers has a much bluesier voice, better suited for other type of songs than the exuberance of Mercury....
The chord changes SUCK. This song is so much better on the record. It's no wonder they didn't perform this song live much it sounds totally off. Robert Hart sang this song correctly in concert.
I never knew they played this live. It's always been one of my favorite songs. It has a sleepy, hypnotic sort of eerie quality to it.
This was from the Rough Diamonds LP. I remember reading an interview years ago where Paul claimed he hated this LP and vowed ever to perform any songs from it. LMAO.
Friggin' awesomeness! Sounds incredible live!
A favorite and yes it’s hypnotic and eerie. It’s about death and Las Vegas

One of the few that has not lost any of that amazing voice. 40+years. Wow.
He doesn't drink, smoke or take drugs and keeps himself in impeccable shape. That is probably why his voice remained so spot on.
Paul and Starship's Micky Thomas both sing the songs in the original keys and they both hit every note consistently.
What a great band!
OMG, his voice is better than 70', you are a monster mister Paul.....
One of my favourite BC songs

Song never gets old especially live
"Electric Land"
Yeah
The neon lights go flashing by
Electric Land is in my eyes
The underworld is on the move
And everybody gots something to prove
Yeah
The taxi driver delivers the news
Somebody out there has blown a fuse
We pass the scene a man is dead
A thirty eight blew away his head
A jolt of lightning set's me back a pace
Feel like a prisoner from outer space
Please excuse me if I don't quite understand
I'm a stranger in Electric Land, yeah
Yeah
Need to be willing to have a good time
You live for the moment the moment is fine
You're up in your room the lights are low
Before you know it's time time time time for the show
Deep crashes up and down my spine
I am super charged, I must be blind
Please excuse me if I don't quite understand
I'm a stranger in Electric Land
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Electric Land
I see you
Electric land
I've been there
I've been there
I've been there
Not the correct lyrics thanks for trying
Thank you, I changed them. Probably still wrong though.
Underrated song......
I wish they played this last year when I saw them, highly underrated song
I saw the Desolation Angels tour in Lubbock Texas in 80. I still remember.
These guys are from England...more power to them...they had such a raw sound of rock n roll....I always thought they were Americans...but I never asked either...what a band they playing longer than the Energizer Bunny...and from what I heard they are still kicking booty...

I would have gone insane too. Love this song so much. The audience looks dead.
He sings it A LOT BETTER on the record than he does live. This song is way better on the record. I was not impressed by this live version. His vocals are off & the guitar is WAY OFF. Wtf?
My favorite BC song. Wish it had gotten more airplay back in 1982.

I'm glad that the song has found its way back into their live set.

Love seeing Mick back in there
Hell's Kitchen...NYC....worked there for 12 years...this song nails it after Sundown.
Love it!
The fact that Bad Company isn’t in the RRHOF is a total farce...
Talent isn't a requisite for the Hall. BadCo. is too good for them!! Hell Yeah!!???
It certainly shows the farce, which is the RRHOF.
After “Bad Company”, this is my second favorite BC song.
saw them in the DESOLATION ANGELS TOUR,haven't been the same since, unreal live
Me too in Lubbock Texas
#rock Hahahahah, all in this song is awesome.
Saw these guys with Triumph. Bad Company opened. They played this song s their encore - Triumph had a hard time getting the crowd back. After Triumph finished we all screamed for Bad Company.

This song is about las vegas!great song one of my favorite's!!

Sounds good on the Kenwood,in my 85 nissan 720 4x4,cruising on the highway in good ole Georgia,go to my page and check out my 720,the silver bullet...
One of their best tunes and he's singing it wrong. And the guitar parts are like WTF? So off and not a good version of the tune. Robert Hart sang this song perfectly for Bad Company in concert & nailed the vocals.
Who the FUCK are YOU?? to criticize Paul Rodgers or Mick or Simon. Keep your stupidity to yourself or get a stadium tour of your own.
Seriously underrated album.

What a fascinating song and the way Paul Rodgers sings it is just awesome. The chord changes are mesmerizing. Love, love Paul Rodgers and Bad Company!
