My favorite gut feeling story has to be from Lt. Joe Kenda. He had a gut feeling someone was the murderer in a case. Turns out he was half-right; the guy actually did an unrelated murder.
Gut feelings may lack precision, but they are often accurate.

Didn't save me, but I had a diabetic dog who just passed a couple months ago. A little over a year ago, I was living with a friend after moving, and I needed to go to the store. Got to the end of the street (only a couple miles) and had a really bad feeling about my dog, so I turned around and went back. Turned out her blood sugar was dangerously low. If I hadn't gone back, I could have lost her because low blood sugar can be deadly (I was normally around 110, but that day it dropped to like 54). Not super relevant or scary, but that pupper was my baby girl. She was almost 12 at the time, but I had her from the day she was born, and now that she's gone, I miss her to no end, but if I hadn't gone back that day, I could have lost her much sooner.

Some of these stories remind me of when I was babysitting. I had taken the kids and their friends to a local park. It was about three blocks away from their house. The oldest girl had a tendency of dragging her feet. All of the other kids were in pairs or sets of three walking in front of us back to the house. She was behind us and I was in between her and the group. I had a blank feeling and I turned around. I saw a car driving slow next to her. I yelled her name and told her to hurry up while walking fast to her and staring at the car. It was a van-ish type of car and it drove away as soon as it saw me. I really think that I should have been concentrating on the license plate so that I could have told the cops. I told her what almost happened and she wouldn't let go of me 'til we got home. I didn't have a cellphone at the time as I didn't have a job.

Not my gut feeling, but my late dogs. They were really big dogs who used to belong to my dad. My mom rescued them from him (they were long divorced) because he wasn’t treating them right. But she was highly allergic so she had to put them in the laundry room to sleep. The breaker box started making sparks and one of my dogs quite nearly jumped on the washing machine and wildly barked at it. He was a big dog, bull mastiff and Great Dane, so his barks were heard across the house by my mom. She gets up to check it out and realizes a fire is starting and wakes up my brother who was in fire school. She was going to attempt to put it out but my brother woke me up grabbed her purse and threw us both out the house. It was an electrical fire so far too late for us to save it. The sparks went up to the attic and our house is made of wood so we had literal minutes before it set the whole roof ablaze. Thankfully the fire dept got there very quickly and most of the house was saved. But we’d probably all be dead by a fire at 4am if it weren’t for the dog.

When I was a sophomore a cop offered to drive me to my bus because he said a girl like me shouldn’t walk alone in such a neighborhood. I ended up not getting in with him and told my aunt who use to be on the streets in drugs. She asked what he looked like and I told her. We were watching TV before going to bed when suddenly I started to say that it smelled like "burnt electricity", none of them could sense the smell and said that it must be coming from outside. But I kept insisting and we started to look everywhere until I flipped the living room carpet where a short circuit was slowly burning it (it was a synthetic carpet on top of a wooden floor).

Water park in my hometown I’d practically grown up in, in a not at all new pool that created waves, but had just installed a set of floating games for kids to jump off. Suddenly, I get this feeling to look for my brother, whom I had just been with and had (in theory) left with my dad. I start frantically looking for him as the wave siren starts and the water starts to move. My eyes dart to the floaties, and I for whatever reason go to one in the far edge that had been previously deemed boring by both of us, and go under. Now, at the time I was about 13 and had had 10+ years of swimming classes, I had even competed a bunch of times, but I was nervous for my brother as had almost drowned a bunch of times before so he never wanted to go to any classes (not to mention he was 2 years younger than me). I duck under the floatie, and by some miracle find my brother there too, unable to find his way up. All of this happened right in front of the guard too, and he never even noticed a kid who dived and didn’t come up for a full minute smh

    • @jessicajohnston5693

You would make an amazing lifeguard! Thanks for saving your little brother.
I almost drowned in a public pool when I was little because my older brother wouldn't get off of my shoulders so I could come up for air. We were taking turns sitting on each other's shoulders in the somewhat deep part of the pool for fun. I told him if I pinched him he needed to get off. I pinched and hit his legs but he didn't move. I panicked and tried to swim up but he was too heavy. I was too dumb to realize I could just drop him and come up. I eventually gave up and decided to accept death. The need for air went away and I felt strangely at peace, then my mom pulled my brother off my shoulders. I was suprised, waited a bit, then came up for air. I also did a belly flop from a high board in the same pool. The pain temporarily paralyzed me and the lifeguard came to my rescue. I was a dumb kid.

Please don’t think you’re dumb for not dipping or pushing him off, there are so many stories of (even pros) passing cause they became paralyzed with fear and can’t think clearly at the moment, unfortunately. My friend and I had a very strange experience. Nothing has come of it so there is no "and I was right" element. But my church has an activity where the teenagers go out, door to door telling people about Jesus. We are always in groups of at least two and I was with my best friend. We got to this house and we both just felt kind of strange. I knocked and you could see inside through the window in the door. It was dimly lit with yellow light and there seemed to be a fish tank of sorts. We saw a gentleman coming up to the door and immediately my panic senses went off. He opened the door and I felt extremely suspicious and creeped out. He was kind and had one of those creepy smiles like Ted Bundy or something. I said what I had to say and got out of there. I looked at my friend and we realized that we both had the exact same panic sense of "there is something not right about this person". As I said, nothing has come of it that I am aware of but it was strange that we both felt like he was not up to something good. We started talking about it and theorizing what it was we could have been sensing. I just really wonder about it sometimes. I really felt like if we had entered his house, we wouldn't have come back out.

Not me, but my mom had a gut feeling that our car's brakes weren't completely fixed.
There's this car shop that used to be a Midas in Kent, where my mom and I took the car (Kia Soul) to have the brakes fixed. We were under the impression that they replaced the rear brakes and they said that the front brakes still had a lot of life left. My mom had a suspicion that something was off, because the car had weird jitters and sputters, whenever we had to either slow down or stop. Well, my mom and I took the car to a Les Schwab a couple of days ago, turns out the previous guys lied. They only replaced the rear pads and not the whole brakes. Plus, our front brakes were long overdue.
It costed us 1200 usd to fix, but at least my mom was right about her suspicions. Plus, took care of the brakes just before winter

I thought I had one a free ATV so I went to the dealership during a massive storm because we were inland during a hurricane, absolutely stupid but I felt I should go. One the way there I thought while I'm out I'd go sell some plasma afterwards at the nearby place, I hadn't done that in a month after the initial new donor awards were done.
The dealership lost power so had to look up my ticket manually, the plasma place was the only building with power on the block with employees pissed because they were closing up but had to stay for me the lone donor during the storm, then I decided to check my mailbox at the front of the complex and had an unexpected bill.
The bill was the exact amount of the amount of my recent plasma donation and what I still had left so I paid it over the phone there before driving to my building. While outside I heard a big crashing sound and thought somebody got in a wreck but didn't see anything only to then drive to "my" parking spot to see a car smashed underneath a tree also covering the open spots next to it. Basically if even one of these things didn't happen my car would have been smashed potentially with me in it too, I wouldn't have even stopped to pay the bill there if it wasn't for the exact amount I just had then on the plasma donor account like it was a sign to pay it so I wouldn't have to touch my actual bank account

I did not save myself, but I saved someone else.
One day I was at a train museum that has a bunch of full-size trains that they sometimes drive around. Most commonly, they have this little ride where you get on a train made of 3 cabooses and a locomotive. The train goes fowards for a bit, backs down another track, stops to load and unload passengers, and then returns to the start. The train is operated by 3 crew members. Crew member 1 is driving the train, and 2 and 3 are doing various stuff around the train.
I'm in the upper portion of the last car and I am looking out of the side window down the train to the locomotive. The train is slowly backing into the station and crew member 2 is standing by a wooden staircase used to let people climb aboard. Crew member 3 is standing on the middle car, helping the driver line the train up with the stairs. No one is paying attention to what is happening on the track behind the train.
I suddenly get this feeling that something that I want to see is happening behind the train, so I turn around and lean my head out of the open window to get a good look. Standing on the tracks is an obviously special needs kid distracted by something he has in his hands. His dad is standing on the platform, filming the train with his phone.
I yell "Hey kid! Get off the tracks!" and the dad notices me. He looks up at me, then over at his kid, and realizes what is happening. He runs over and pulls his kid off the tracks just in time. Then the dad looks up at me and says "Thank you!"

When I was about 8 or 9 me and my family went with good family friends to a beach house that belonged to a friend of theirs and got to use it for a bit and on the second day we all went bicycle riding by the beach. We stopped at an area that led down to the beach and all went down to the sand to just explore and unwind and everyone took off their helmets but for some reason I just decided that I was better off keeping it on despite the fact it was very inconvenient and annoying, but I just had a feeling. There were these pretty big logs that were just standing straight up in the sand (no idea how the hell they ended up like that) but just as me and my friend approached one it at that moment fell over and hit my right on the head but because I was wearing my helmet it just bounced off and I just kinda stood there like nothing had happened and turned towards my friend who was looking at me with an expression of absolute worry and fear and asked hurriedly if I was okay. I was fine and the impact didn't even hurt or knock me over, but I don't know how bad it could have been if it had struck by unprotected young head. It's probably for the best that I didn't find out if it would have done serious and permanent damage, I'm already stupid enough, thank you.

Feel free to talk to a therapist. There is convenient phone apps for therapy knowdays. I went to a lot of different therapists in my past and was too polite to tell them that I wasn't benefiting from the sessions... so, my advice is to try and set a goal with the therapist then work together to meet that goal. Also, it is okay to say that you don't think they are a good match for you and try someone else. Talking about what troubles me can be exhausting, so maybe writing instead of talking about it will help? There is a lot of stuff to try, and I hope you find what works for you!

My gut does jack shit for me. I feel like I would’ve fallen into most of these traps. More often if there’s something I shouldn’t be doing or somewhere I shouldn’t be going or someone I shouldn’t be talking to I’ll just lose interest in that particular thing person or place. The one time I was right was when I kept telling my one or two friends back in 2020 during lock down and the immediate aftermath that I felt like I wouldn’t get a job and my life wouldn’t get better until my bf of 4 years broke up. I was getting interviews but no jobs. We broke up just over a year ago right before a trip to NY. Right around that time I got an interview for a temporary job that just finished a few weeks ago. I made some great new friends and my life got much better. Even now that I’m back to looking for a full time job I’m still in touch with 2 of those friends. And I’ve lost most of the interest I had in talking to my ex. Mostly because he’s become increasingly toxic and disrespectful to me. And everyone around him thinks he’s the shit.

Most these stories are " i saw a blacked out car and shady lookin people inside maybe gang related and my gut just knew it was dangerous " no your brain told you that guy seems off and maybe avoid him if you dont wanna deal with shit , i got example of a gut feeling instinct or whatever u wanna call it lol , omw to school i told my mates im not walking this way somethings gonna happen , i walked the offroad way, that day they all got caught smoking weed on the way to school, another examples when I've had a feeling someone's watching or following me , im ususally pretty aware of that sht , not saying people cant creep up on me lol, but it is hard to😂😂

Do you know about existence of full stops? Or coherent statements? Also you shit on other stories - yet your ''examples'' are not really examples of gut feeling honey... Not at all.

It's great that you caught a fire - but it's not a gut feeling, you literally heard it...

Why is the background music so creepy? Most of these end positive.

That teacher who friends died in a car accident probably caused the accident in like a butterfly effect type way lol. Like if he didn't make them stop maybe they would have just passed the car like nothing happened. Not blaming him for wanting to get out though

Inappropriate to say ''lol'' about it - and not for us to speculate about this.

Ok but Ted Bundy liked brunettes so why would he try to take a blonde. Idk I call BS on that particular story. Sorry not sorry 🤷
