God Damn I miss you guys! I cried the day I found out that mark passed. It was the day I bought The Night, that album torn me up and healed me all in the same.
"The Only One" - what a sublimely beautiful song. This guy had such an amazing way of saying things, I can't think of anyone that comes close, Mr Sandman, you are one of my all time heroes, I can never get enough of your music. Thank you.
Being near Boston as they garnered attention around the globe was truly thrilling, especially since one knew how much Sandman had worked in the music scene already. Remarkable talents all.
sublimely beautiful in content and gesture, old school sound done in a way that will feel forever fresh and never dated to millions who have yet to even hear it... This is music for musicians and people who can feel.
I've always wondered what the f**** happened on march 4th,1982? awesome band, they had this unique sound, and sandman bass lines were so mystical and moody, they just kicked my ass from the first listen.
nothing that i gotta do/gotta get it to the bank. lol still the best band of all time, and this performance is rather rare. these guys never did a bad song and i will love them forever. thank you, behind007.

Loved this group, almost like a throwback to 50s era rock, not that I was alive then ;-) And these two songs, man.. I don't think I could possibly list my favorite Morphine jams, much less in order. But -if- I did have a list, these two would certainly make it. Thanks for the awesome upload behind007!
When i first heard about the band...just a guitar, drums and sax i thought that was different but I had no idea how Killer morphine was...The sandman had such a sultry voice..
Well you don't see a double sax player too often! In fact, this is the third one I've seen, the first two being Van der Graaf Generator's David Jackson, and, of course, Roland Kirk, who could even play three, if I recall correctly... Anyway, it's great to see a band that has an original style and even greater to see one that plays sincere music!
Everyone here should check out Mark Sandman's first band named Treat Her Right. Billy Conway plays a cocktail drum kit. They add another guitar and a harmoica. Check out the song "I Think She Likes Me."
two people are allergic to morphine. My buddy and I saw them in 98' @ horde fest, we were on shrooms and I do believe it was the most beautiful musical experience I've ever had!
Was it really at a TV show? I remember being in a french radio show where Morphine performed these songs. Might be this one? Taj Mahal was also part of the show. Anyway, thanks a lot for sharing! Reminds me of this great band that I was lucky to see live a lot of times,
@joynthis Dude! I agree with that. They do not get credit for how heavy they were. Listen to A Good Woman Is Hard to Find on your stereo with the volume on 10 and tell me another band that fills in the bottom end like Morphine does..........ok.....maybe........MAYBE!......Master Of Reality era Black Sabbath, and that's saying something.
You tell me that your hungry and you wanna stop and eat/ well if it was up to me/ we wouldn't even stop to eat/ you ask me: 'hey what happened to you where's your handsom smile?'/ I say its back be behind me, back about a hundred miles.
@AwwwMuadDib Two of the most original and ground breaking bands of the 90's and IMO of all time. They don't get enough credit. It seems the critics want to suck Radiohead's collective ***** and ramble on about Nirvana, Pearl Jam, My Bloody Valentine and Pavement like they owned the '90's, and while I love (Some of) those bands too (Loveless is one of the best albums of all time IMO), I despise the fact that those same critics don't give bands like Morphine or Primus the credit they deserve.
This is actually better than the version on "Yes" (and that's stupendous). Somebody needs to release a collection of stuff like this with better sound. How come "Sandbox" didn't do that?
"All the time in the world", Marky boy??? That didn't prove to be true, did it? Nonetheless, Sandman and his denizons of the deep were innovators, and Colley was king on the double-duty thing (well, next to Jeff Coffin) Actually, I still enjoy this dark, despondent stuff ....when the mood strikes
My baritone is a Conn 1933
my tenor is a Selmer Mark 6 1969
holy fuck... congratulations on all your work, amazing musician you are.
God Damn I miss you guys! I cried the day I found out that mark passed. It was the day I bought The Night, that album torn me up and healed me all in the same.
Holy shit! I have so many questions and not one way to ask
THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING !
That's stamina.
two saxaphones at once, I think Dana might just be a legend that shouldn't be forgotten
GamesULove Rolland Kirk
he's like roland kirk!
Rahsaan Roland Kirk did it first, moron
Amen
Each artist alone in Morphine is a star, but together they are a supernova
This band is unreal
The bass sounds like it is crying in a good way on only one.
"The Only One" - what a sublimely beautiful song. This guy had such an amazing way of saying things, I can't think of anyone that comes close, Mr Sandman, you are one of my all time heroes, I can never get enough of your music. Thank you.
Fully Agree
Del Spence His lyrics were often blunt and simply said, yes?
"Your version of success is different from the rest"
First Video i saw from them. Since then,i have been a Morphine-addict.
They were just way too fucking good.
Mark's intelligence shines through...
Radar the one..........................................................................................,........................................
Being near Boston as they garnered attention around the globe was truly thrilling, especially since one knew how much Sandman had worked in the music scene already. Remarkable talents all.
Insane, these guys were really on a completely different level..........
You guys are the best band I have ever seen.
They were just as awesome live as they were on their albums.
Yes. Yes, they were. One of the best bands to see in Boston back then.
sublimely beautiful in content and gesture, old school sound done in a way that will feel forever fresh and never dated to millions who have yet to even hear it... This is music for musicians and people who can feel.
Morphine rules. Dana's double-sax is amazing.
I've always wondered what the f**** happened on march 4th,1982? awesome band, they had this unique sound, and sandman bass lines were so mystical and moody, they just kicked my ass from the first listen.
13 years after I saw the footage of Morphine at Glastonbury I STILL marvel at the 2 sax trick!
Mark Sandman RIP
"I got all the time in the world. To spare."
I think he knew better. That was chilling.
Jesus god that was good. I've never even heard "The Only One" before. That was fantastic.
OH... MY... GOD... Morphine, I bow down!
Thank you behind007 for making a grown man cry
:P
un-fricking believable!!! To bad they are gone.
Saw them in a hellhole bar in Dallas. This is a great example of how HEAVY they were live.
makes you wonder what happened on march 4, 1982
March 4 '82 was within a week or two of when I first met Mark. I lived across the street.
Wow! Share your story!! @@cymbya
The best trio from Boston. What an acid music!!
OH my God.....I get to see the greatest band ever, live now. Thank You Thank You Thank You!!!!!!
He makes that bass cry
LEGEND BAND & SAXPHON LEGEND VOCALIST E SONG SUPERSONIC FANTASTIC ❤🎷👑🎤
The double saxophone of Dana Colley is what first got me interested in Morphine...the rest is history.
Very gifted musicians
One of my favorite bands ever!
Now I am pretty sure: I saw the video one more time and saw a "Europe 1" banner.
It was a show presented by Marc Toesca, I was there!!!
nothing that i gotta do/gotta get it to the bank. lol
still the best band of all time, and this performance is rather rare. these guys never did a bad song and i will love them forever. thank you, behind007.

Alguna apuesta que suba éste nivel.. Vamos... Perfecta banda para mis oídos... Lo cual no significa que sea la mejor... Aúpa esos morphine!!
absolutely amazing! they're better live than in records!
Thanks! thanks! thanks! for sharing these videos
When i first heard about the band...just a guitar, drums and sax i thought that was different but I had no idea how Killer morphine was...The sandman had such a sultry voice..
WOW ! Thank you for this !

I saw Rahsaan live and he played 3 saxes and a nose flute and with his circular breathing technique, he could create a tapestry of sound.
i cant feel anything.
it must be working.
awesome.

I heard Rhino records owns the Morphine catalog now. Write to them and bug them. There have to be mountains of great unreleased Morphine songs!
Check that, google tells me it was on Good?? They must have changed it up a lot, because it really seems like I would remember it!
Que musicasos del carajo!
the sax player is sedate no skerik
thanks next time I'll set my self on fire
-dana colley
Too funny. lol

Fuckin love me some Morphine.
@cinemarveler he got what everyone gets, he got a lifetime.
@kristofor12345 The song Radar is from the "Yes" album.
You Couldn't Trade My Radar
One Tenor in his left hand, one Baritone in his right hand ;)
You tell me that your hungry and you wanna stop and eat/ well if it was up to me/ we wouldn't even stop to eat/ you ask me: 'hey what happened to you where's your handsom smile?'/ I say its back be behind me, back about a hundred miles.

ПРОСТО КАЙФ
Sonzera! :D :D :D
Morphine is the really diffirent band..
you-are-the-only-one
Mark is beautiful af
the only one!
I always assumed March 4, 1982 was the day he got caught cheating with a married woman, as the lyrics to Thursday say.
I don't know, that sounds good though.
@billyjustice1 Lucky you :) Must have been great !
They are Gods
double sax wowzzza
🖤🇩🇪
This is actually better than the version on "Yes" (and that's stupendous). Somebody needs to release a collection of stuff like this with better sound. How come "Sandbox" didn't do that?
I'm sad about that too, But everything happens for a reason i guess.
which microphone he uses? that one on the left.. it has an awesome vintage sound...
it's called a bullet mic. i think designed for harmonicas. les claypool uses one these days with a "sandman" sticker on it
To me, Tenor for the solo. But there are also baritone and tenor in the mix behind.
Does anyone know the model of Dana Colley's saxophones?
The bari was a Conn the tenor a Selmer Mark VI
Thanks for the info, but does anyone know what his tenor is?
Dirty, Gritty, Sexy 🖤🖤 and sweet God dam beautiful sound🖤🇩🇪
Ive never seen someone play two saxophones.
@nuclear944 buscher con for his bari don't remember the year
If God existed Mark Sandman would still be with us :(
What album is Radar from?
"Yes" album
"All the time in the world", Marky boy??? That didn't prove to be true, did it? Nonetheless, Sandman and his denizons of the deep were innovators, and Colley was king on the double-duty thing (well, next to Jeff Coffin)
Actually, I still enjoy this dark, despondent stuff ....when the mood strikes
... and here I always thought they overdubbed the saxes.
Fuck me.
"Type PRIZE before youtube and hit enter
TWO SAXOPHONES AT ONCE????? wow
why did Mark Sandman have to leave us?
:(
