I was gifted 2 full grown gorgeous asparagus ferns a couple months ago but I have no experience with this plant! I wanted to decorate my front door with them but is it too cold outside in January? What temp do they need to thrive? Im in sw Oklahoma, I am a beginner also!
Great video! My Asparagus fern is taking a long time to grow, maybe it's because it doesn't get enough natural light? I can't wait to propagate, it's a beautiful plant!
Hi Lucia, glad I stumbled on your video about Asparagus Fern. 👍🏻 One question please... Apart from the poisonous leaves and berries, is it safe to keep Asparagus Fern and JADE plant indoors, especially in the bedroom?
May I recommend never putting this in the ground outside. Someone planted this over 20 years ago in my yard and I have been fighting it spreading for years, it is so invasive. I have scars from detangling it from my bushes and trees. Such a shame this beautiful thing is so vicious!
Hi! Thankfully, they are doing really well! I show them in the plant tour video 😊 You can watch it here: ua-cam.com/video/v8CGqfwLn64/v-deo.html Hope you like it !
@@PlantsandLucia No in Australia,I am desperately for to have this plant . May be you could send me one I could pay for the cost . I have tried everywhere no one sells them
Hi! That's a good question and great observation 😊! there's no reason haha.. it just felt more confotable for the roots there.. but you can see what feels better for you :)
Hi! It may hurt her a little but most likely it will get strong again 💚 if you have a picture, you can send it to me on IG and we can see ! But don’t give up on her, plants can be very resilient 💪
that's a great question. We want to keep the roots intact as much as possible. So when we are cutting we can try to make sure not to cut so much. However, if we cut the root a little bit (again, try to prevent this) she should be able to come back up 😊
Great video I have had 5 of them sense Feb of this year and they are all growing i definatly need to be in the plant for usual mataince every month or so to take out the old brown vegetation leaving room for air light & new growth. I have four on hanging planters outside on my patio & one indoors on my kitchen window sile next to a couple other species of plants.🌵🌱🌿
Great observation! In this case, no... It was just the way the roots went and felt comfortable... But you can place it, however you feel it will be happier ☺️♥️🌿
This was awsome and helpful. . .I just bought one and its too big for my room so I am considering diving them. . Is it possible to make a new plant from a clipping????
Hi! I haven’t tried to do it from a clipping! I’ve read division is better with the asparagus fern, but will try to see if it is possible to do it from A cutting and let you guys know :)
Hello ☺️🌿! Hmm I have never tried to propagate from cutting... But according to my propagation table, this plant can be propagated by division only.. However, it may be possible, but not recommended, as the success rate of the plant shooting roots may not be so high..!
@@PlantsandLucia i cut my over grown asparagus fern since it is becoming a jungle in my front yard. I saved the hard cuttings and soaked them in growth hormones. Not sure of its outcome (I am looking for some videos that shows propagating from cuttings, but saw none as of yet). Will give an update after two months perhaps.
Division is a method to propagate some plants 😊 for the asparagus fern it is the best method in my experience 💚 but if you try another method let me know how it goes for sure !
Asparagus Fern are hands down my favorite plant. Idk why I just love how wispy and full they get lol Francesca es perfecta ❤
Can we call her Ferncesca? Ha ha...I just go two little asparagus ferns and I love them!!! Thanks for this!

Thank you so much for this video :) I got an asparagus fern today and wanted to share it with a friend, really helpful

Lucia your videos are so cute and informative! I like your production too with the pop ups, very easy to watch. :)

Hi Lucia, glad I stumbled on your video about Asparagus Fern. 👍🏻
One question please... Apart from the poisonous leaves and berries, is it safe to keep Asparagus Fern and JADE plant indoors, especially in the bedroom?
It is safe :) as long as it is not eaten by a pet or something like this !
Good Job Lucia!
My Asaragus Fern is planted in the ground, do I do the same ting for propagation of my plant? I would really like to make a few more?
Hi, why do you tend to place them on the side, not in the center of the pot?
Hi Good Afternoon..!
Useful video, I wants to know can we keep this plant by cutting. For example I bought a stem of this plant can I grow it by soil
Hi! That's a great question.. does the stem have roots?
@@PlantsandLucia No pa. So only I'm asking
That was very interesting, thanks!
Thank you for this sweet and educational video!
You are very welcome! I'm so glad you like it ☺️☺️♥️
Thanks, very good information!
Thank you! So happy you found it useful :)
What a Beautiful Plant! Great Video L. 🌺😍
It is really beautiful and it grows very fast haha! Sending lots of positive energy to you my friend 🥰
My fern is over 70 years old and has thorns on the stems and has outgrown my house will I be able to put my plant outdoors I live in the uk
May I recommend never putting this in the ground outside.

Given the thorns, are you sure it's not eating asparagus? i have both plants and only the eating asparagus has thorns as it grows out.
Hi Lucia! How are these sweet babies doing??

Hi. I have this plant planted in the soil. It is deeply embedded. How could I propogate the same using the division method
I love them so much I can not find them where do you live?
I love them too!! I live in Berlin :-) have you found them yet?
@@PlantsandLucia No in Australia,I am desperately for to have this plant . May be you could send me one I could pay for the cost . I have tried everywhere no one sells them
Is there a reason why you planted them on the side in the new pots, and not in the middle?
Hi! That's a good question and great observation 😊! there's no reason haha.. it just felt more confotable for the roots there.. but you can see what feels better for you :)
Did you put water after repotting or propagating?
Hi! great question :-) Yes, I do water after repotting and propagating. This is to make sure that there are no air bubbles in the soil :-)
Can u propagate thru cuttings
Is this plant only for indoor?could we just take the some portion of the plant with its roots from the mother plant and not dividing the whole plant?
Subscribed I like the video. Well done
Can we make to 4, 1 plant to 4
You can grow it from berries also.
I accidentally cut into one of the main roots while cutting throught the middle will this cause the plant to die?

Is there a reason why you put them so close to the side of the pot instead of in the center?
