    Hey Luetin! I'm a beginning youtuber who primarily covers ArmA and have recently been binge watching all of your videos XD
    I gotta admit, you put hard work into this stuff, more work than I do, and that says a lot coming from a person who tries to upload as much content as possible XD Keep going man, and I hope to play with you in the future! :D

      +Luetin09 A friend of mine is having some issues with "Zeus spam", and he don't know how to fix it. He is saying that he is not pushing any button, but the server admins wont belive him. He disabled the "Y" key.

      +HMK NorwayHD I dont know what his problem could be. He should perhaps ask them to help him solve the issue and explain the problem. If they are good server admins they will try and help.

      +Luetin09 I'm currently working on an expansion for the Ares mod. I really like your video as it inspired me for some new modules. The AI behaviour for Defence Mission is a concern to me. Is the code you mentioned at 32:41 avaiable? I guess it would be a good idea to implement the feature in Ares mod. The credits will be given to the developer for sure.

      Great Video Luetin, thanks. How do you highlight the Players with icons? I often lose the overview in my missions because sometimes I have no idea where the players currently are.

      Luetin, I have a sort of problem with my arma 3. I could play it for a few months on Windows using steam, now I cant. It just freezes a few seconds after loading.

    I got burned out on FPS games long ago. They all seemed too alike to me - there was nothing new. Your videos, however, have made me really interested in ARMA3, and the Zeus side of things seems like a blast. Thanks for all your work on the videos.
    Re: the use of Artillery and fire support on the player side.
    I was on tanks in the US Army for a long time. That was a while ago but, what I remember a lot from that time is that our offensives were always fought in two phases: First there was a recon fight (usually at night), where the scouts would be sent out to identify targets and strengths, etc. From their reports, we would then be able to build our fire plans where we would pre-plot artillery target references (based on identified target locations, or terrain features). Depending on the resistance that was identified, our unit (platoon, company, battalion, whatever) would be given certain assets we could count on and depending on the order of march, the commander would give priority of fire support to specific units (generally whoever was in the vanguard).
    When it came time for the actual attack phase of the battle (usually the next morning), on the move we could call in fire on one of those pre-planned targets, and adjust from there. We would generally get one round for ranging (not smoke because we didn't want to obscure the target), make adjustments, then fire for effect. We generally couldn't call in artillery by grid reference, because that would take too long for the artillery men to make calculations and adjustments while we were on the move. Granted, it might be much more do-able with dismounted infantry.
    My suggestion is that you implement something like I have described - though it might take longer: Fight your battles in two phases. Give the recon team a certain amount of time to get in, identify targets, and get out, and then build the fire support plan with whoever the player commanders are. Then, during the assault, not every team has priority of fire (though the commander can shift who has it), and they would fire artillery based on those target references. Lastly, remember that modern military has anti-artillery fire, too, so artillery is not always available, as they tend to fire a few rounds, then pack up and move to a new location.

    Hey! I just started playing ArmA 3, and realized that Zeus is very much like a GM from Dungeons & Dragons. I really want to get into making and running scenarios and maybe even whole campaigns now!

    Very good job LT. One can tell you put a lot effort on it. couple notes:
    1 I dont know if you ment it but when the fire start in RL and someone have a general idea where it came from you dont just scout and leave. You often try to ambush the suspected location and/or use different angle/different optics/night vision.
    2 Ambushes (the planned ones) are not simple. Its usually involve a recon team who have eyes on the area and a 2-3 teams on the ground who have 100+ meters between one another. When the convoy/enemy force pass the 1th team without beeing shot the 2nd team start to shoot/blow the explosives. Right after that the first team join the battle from behind when the 3rd one (if there's any) charge the tarp force from one side or the other. Regarding thermal in RL you can use blankets to hide your heat signature. Im not sure its an option in Arma tho...
    3 The thermal vision are extremly rare in common units and even in some armies. They are quite big as well. Comparing to the regular one's. If you can it might be usefull to limit them to one per squad or so unless its a special ops mission or so

    I'd love to see another "campaign" style mission, perhaps it would be easier if you got an assistant/ahoy staff to help you even if that isn't ideal

    I do table top wargaming, and you hit alot of the issues that unknown engagements in that area have. One thing I do is provide the other player with intel images or read outs of what they can expect to engage and rough numbers and locations. Really interesting. Zeus makes me want to play Arma 3 now.

    Great video Luetin, hopefully this allows you to stop repeating yourself in your streams about rationale etc. I really like the idea of restricting weapons or accessories, as we discussed in a debrief one night that many of my squad mates were LMG gunners. Also I believe that only marksman and snipers should be using long range scopes. In a realistic sense the RCO for example is a very similar magnified sight that real infantry use and have to be accurate with.. With my time served I was never able to attach a high powered scope to my C7 rifle... That was left for snipers and it's just not practical for regular infantry. I think with this restriction you will find the fighting distance will decrease as players who are used to the high powered scopes have to adjust. As a regular player of your missions I also want to say that your use of mortars/artillery is spot on and very fair for the players. Keep up the great work as usual. - (BobtheWarrior)

    Hey Luetin. Great video. Recently started doing some Zeus missions with a couple of friends although nowhere near the scale your used to. This will really help in creating missions and keeping them fair.
    In regards to getting people helping you creating missions, controlling the AI an so on. Having people doing it every week is not realistic but on nights you have a couple of people that could help (and wont abuse the zeus role) could be good for creating larger scale and more epic missions if you feel that's what you want to do.
    Also, maybe you could even have a small player controlled squad on the side of the AI for specific missions. For example holding a key location like a road block, performing a counter attack or maybe just a couple of people looking out for the enemy to then call artillery on their positions.

    Good insight into your thoughts on Zeus. I'll have to try my luck and join in at some point (bit late for me usually). Just one recommendation for those who feel like their "normal" Coop is too easy - look into the DAC mod, it ramps up the difficulty quite a bit. The AI is of course still not perfect but it will provide you with much more of a challenge even if you don't want to do Zeus for some reason or another.

    Some tips for you :
    - get someone or more to co-op zeus with you
    - use civilians
    - organize the players (one or two leaders, TS mandatory with task force radio or other, etc) it may require more effort to organize the mission but I will organize the supports roles and make you able to stop the team from getting in the wrong direction or making a dumb mistake

    Hi Luetin, I'm sure others already told you, but why don't you adjust fire, after a salvo of mortars or your ranging shot? If the players only move 20 meters to the other side of the hilltop, the guy who radioed in the fire support would have the fire adjusted accordingly. Mortar Rangetables and Artillery computers already support such functions and even were implemented in ACE. And the same with predetermined positions, you have a fix point and you call the fix, with additional adjustments to fire, like: "Firemission 5 rounds. Junction Bravo. Adjustments 20 meters Northeast." You wouldn't need another ranging shot to adjust the fire.

    My problem with Zeus is that players are living or dying according to YOUR "rationale" of what is fair and what is not. And you're at least trying to be fair. In general, after you've played enough Zeus missions, you can't help feeling that you're not fighting an enemy, but simply trying not to break any rules that Zeus think it should be penalized. Great video though, Zeus being what it is, there's only so much you can do to make things right.

    When being the gamemaster for many players would it not be a good idea to have a second Zeus, like an assistant helping out with the multitasking? That could help making things even more dynamic and exciting. (Provided that the two gamemasters are cooperating well, and only one of the two has thr final say on how things should progress)

    Gonna be honest, I've been one of these guys who use mortars in zeus missions.. I accidentaly even took out an flying helicopter with one (pure skillz). Once I even made an automated .50 cal cannon at the enemy swuad in pvp zeus

    Luetin Ive been watching a majority of your you tube videos and some twitch streams!! Seeing the effort and work that goes into these missions makes me wonder why people have to cheat with "stream snipers" as its destroys the fun for everyone!Keep up the good work and although Id love to participate in these missions my PC rig can't run it.     +Luetin09 I'm not sure if you've ever covered this. I figured I'd asked since you spoke about human vs AI, and creating a challenging experience (notwithstanding equipment limitations). What do you think it would take to make Arma 3 or next release... a competing PVP multiplayer platform? Keeping in mind maintaining the COOP and mission creating features of Arma.

    LT, can i suggest manually using mortar rounds in the zues fire support tab. to better simulate the spread of fire and make it more immersive for the players. and lessens the tedious process of constantly clicking the Ai mortar squad and firing on target placements. but u must constantly be alert when the nato team takes the mortar team down as to stop using mortar fire. hope you use this as i observe your missing out much on action when using mortars... Praise Jim the mortarman!

      +Ghost Rage well here is the problem with that. If I use the Support fire mortars they are 100% accurate to the mark I put down. So what that means is the only way for me to kill players is to directly place my mortar marker on them. I dont feel comfortable doing that because it means I would be selecting who dies. Even if I try to randomise that I dont feel good about it.

      +Ghost Rage The only way I could use it is to 'scare' them a bit if I wanted to, but honestly I prefer the accurate time delay from the mortar team to the splash on target, I think its fairer to the guys on the ground in all respects

      +Luetin09 solution is the same with other zues vids i watch. u just make it immersive. like firing behind or forward the enemy positions. its practically the same how you use the target markers. you dont place them where the players are. make it immersive for them. bonus is there is a sound whenever u fire. it alerts the players that a mortar round is coming allowing them to manuever away. and punish the ones who are obviously not using the terrain strategically or making those annoying "sniper lmgs" to move.

How can you see other players in highlight...since i made a mission and i became zeus...but every time i start the mission it either (1) I can't see the players that joined...and (2) I wanna respawn the same AI in the same vehicle(friend or Foe) in eden editor... Love ur videos btw :D

      Grand Moff Tarkin pretty much, for awhile I served as our DM back when our group played D&D for about a month. When we started to play arma I immediately became our zeus. Been awhile since I’ve done it though.

    hey LT, I'm curious, what is your rationale for taking out super-long range sniper squads, that are taking out a whole base?

      +cook13snip3aa They eliminate so many targets without getting into it themselves, lessening the fun everyone else has. I think he's alright with a two-man sniper team due to the fact that it's realistic.
