Durham. If you can't acknowledge that England are on the much easier side of the draw then how did you get a job as a football pundit?
Bigericunt9413 Durham stated that the odds to reach the final by bookmakers (who obviously know where they are in the draw) is 6/4. They are 4/1 with most bookies to win the Euros with the draw common knowledge.. this means, bookmakers are saying England have a 20% chance of winning the Euros, which is an 80% chance of NOT winning it.. and as he pointed out, odds of 6/4 to get to the final with is a 40% chance, therefore a 60% chance they DONT make the final.. and remember, this is UK bookies who would have taken mainly bets on England... England are not that great, they're average.. if they were thrashing every team 4 or 5 -0 , we'd be odds on, but we're priced at having an 80% chance of NOT winning!!!
@@lfcmonkeyyyman6229 Proudfoot gave the odds, which I'm not disputing. My problem is with Durham using Euro 2016 as the yardstick for Southgate's achievements, without mentioning that we have a much stronger squad in 2024, and playing down our easiest ever route to a final.

You can't say England got an easy draw when the draw was made before the tournament started. There are as many group winners on our side of the draw as the other side. There are as many group runners up on our side of the draw as the other side. How can that be deemed lucky? You'd have to be pretty dumb to describe it as such. It's not like a non league team has won a one off game to reach this stage and we've been drawn against them. We're talking about teams who won a six game round robin.

The question is whether Southgate is a good enough coach to make England reach the final. England lost very winnable games to Croatia and Italy due to his poor coaching and game management, so Southgate is the factor means England could lose any of the inferior teams in the draw.

@@karabomafa5609 Italy and Netherlands are poor. They were both rank outsiders to the competition before it kicked off. Netherlands lost one of their best players, De Jong, before the tournament. Italy are in transition, they've lost Chiellini, Bonucci and Verratti since they beat us in the Euros.
Germany, France (the two favourites IMO) are on the other side of the draw, along with Portugal, Belgium and Spain. We can't play any of them until the final. And we have Slovakia in the first knockout round (meaning either of Netherlands and Italy could get knocked out by another team, and we don't even have to play them to get to the final).
If we weren't such bottle merchants with such terrible coaching and, weak mentality and a culture of being afraid of the ball, we should absolutely be getting to the final. But we all know what will happen, in actuality.

Why should we beat Italy or the Netherlands? Switzerland or Austria would also be really tough games, they aren’t mediocre sides. The tournament has shown that a lot of sides are competitive. They have 2-3 good players and the rest average, it’s the coaching of rangnick and the system he’s implemented that maximises them. I think it's to do with the fact that England avoid 3/4 teams you just mentioned and so far have had to play Serbia, Denmark, Slovenia, and now Slovakia. We have exceptional talent we should beat every team until we meet the other side of the draw. If you cannot handle the expectation you're not equipped for this level of competition. They sure enough get compensated like they should be able to handle reasonable expectation.

Teams that are successful that have lower quality players are considered the exception to that rule. If England had an elite manager like Guardiola or klopp etc, they would've won the last 2 tournaments and be massive favourites for this one too. Having the best players is like a tradesman having the best tools. But if the manager/tradesman doesn't know how to use the best players/tools at his disposal, they will be unsuccessful. England have the best "tools" but a bang average manager using them.
