    This presentation format seemed a bit different then past videos, I enjoyed it. Thanks, and nice box

      Glad you liked it! I tried to make it a bit shorter by using voiceover and editing much of the times spent on the complete cuts. I did get some complaints about the sound levels so still need to work on that.

    That burl is really something and I really like the box design. It is interesting to not only see the different designs and techniques each of you use but also the different ways you approach the video production. As I mentioned in Tomislav's comment section, I really look forward to these videos each month; they are interesting, fun, and instructive.

    Hey Mike. I started watching your videos 8 years ago when I first started woodturning. I'm glad to see you're still going strong.
    I still learn something new every time I watch.
    You are absolutely right about no two folks doing things the same.

    Good dayMike , I have started turning boxes , and like your calm voice and how you talk your way through a project , and not have a " Watch me turn this , " with annoying background music and no instruction .. .. have learned more this way. I am going go take your example , and that of several of the British gurners that I follow , and make up some of my own kitchen chemistry polish paste, as I have reciently been diagnosed with a minor obstructive respiratory condition , so I need more positive dust control .
    I have a Ray Key box gouge , and a small AMT box scraper and make small boxes with a top for cover , inlays of coins , agate cabochons , and will be using contrasting woods , knobs , drawer pulls ,and metal conchos , detail rings with beading tools and friction wire or colored markers

    Love this little box, the cherry burl or burr as we say in UK really pops. I must turn some more boxes soon.

    Nice box Mike. I just finished a small box, but like your button top. I might re chuck my top and add a button. I was a little distracted by what looks like a bruise/burn on your hand. Hopefully not too serious or much pain. Now to watch the other amigos in the four way 😎

      Right on. That is what happen when you work in a shop and take adult dose aspirin. You show the signs of a bump you do not even remember.

    I love working with cherry burl. You did a great job making this cherry special.
    The sound wasn't the best this time but it just made me pay more attention. Clever of you!
    Seems like you are using more and more scrapers. Is Raffan influencing you?

    • @MikePeaceWoodturning
      @MikePeaceWoodturning  10 місяців тому +2

      Sorry about the poor sound, Ken. Yes, Richard has been influencing from day 1! I have 7 of his books. And yes, his recent videos have stimulated me to try and do more with a conventional scraper.

    Mike -- If possible, it would be nice if you could readjust the sound levels of this video. In parts of it, the background sound from the lathe makes it hard to understand your voiceover naration.

    • @MikePeaceWoodturning
      @MikePeaceWoodturning  10 місяців тому +1

      Yes. sound is a challenge with different clips and voice over at different levels. At some point after spending a lot of time working to equalize the sound levels during the edit, I had to say enough. Sorry. I will try a different approach next time.

      Mine is from one of my clubs. Perhaps I need to come up with merchandise like T shirts. I guess I always felt it was too much effort but UA-cam has a mechanism for that. I would just need to come up with some new T shirt ideas so I am not copying someone elses merchandise. But, you can find anything on Amazon!
