    I had a slow leak around the bead and tried this. I put half a quart of ATF in each of my rear lawn tractor tires and to my amazement it worked. And after two full weeks I've had no slow leaks in the rear tires of my riding lawn mower! Thanks!

    Thanks Lee. I'm gonna try it. I find ATF in yard sales free.

      Anything any better would be an innertube

    I wish I had caught ya before you paid good $$ for new fluid because used trans fluid works just as well as new fluid for this. Since they're dry-rotted anyway it doesn't matter that the trans fluid will eventually degrade the rubber. Fortunately, by then they probably would have been trashed anyway. Keep in mind some tires are so bad only a tube will work and the tubes degrade a lot faster if they get trans fluid on them.

      If I could find used transmission fluid, I would probably use that

    Looks like a good solution for a low speed tire.
    I would not put flammable stuff in a road application tire for risk of tire fire or something else.

    Buy one gallon of QUADBOSS TIRE SEALANT WITH PUMP. YOU WILL NEVER USE ANYTHING ELSE. Only for atv ,riding mowers , wheelbarrows or handtrucks. Basically NHS tires both tube and tubeless.

    I am pretty sure this is a terrible idea because you'll just end up having to buy a brand new rim & tire within a few years, after the ATF softens and loosens the paint on the rim and rust takes hold and it will also ruin the tire because those are made of rubber and petrol products will eventually soften those to the point of ruin. Nevermind what the person who eventually has to change the tire will have to deal with...

  • @fhiggenbottom

    Was the tire leak on your lawn tractor from the bead on the rim or from the tire itself?

    • @MurphyMower
      @MurphyMower  Рік тому

      If I remember correctly on this one, it had some minor cracking on the side walls

    • @2Truth4Liberty

      I think microscopic leaks will seal from the ATF disolving rubber and rubber particles squeezing into the gap.
      An actual puncture would like be the end of the tire (not easy to fix after you have ATF soaked in).
      Berryman's and Amerseal may cost more but they will hold up even to getting a puncture. And the time used to repair a puncture (or replace the tire) would be worth the added cost, IMO.
      I may be a little biased because I get LOTS of punctures since there are a lot of Locust trees at my place and their spikes always seems to find my tires.

    • @fhiggenbottom
      @fhiggenbottom 9 місяців тому

      @@2Truth4Liberty You may be right about punctures, but tubing a tire is the best option for fixing punctures if you can remove the wheel and tire but plugging them is probably best if you can't.
      My problem was leakage around the tire bead. I'd previously tried Fix a Flat on my leaking riding mower tires without success and both Fix a Flat and slime failed to stop the leaks around the beads.
      To my surprise, and delight, though, the ATF I used to stop the leaks around the bead worked immediately and well over 3 months later now the tires are still holding air!

  • @joudomsouk

    So what does it do? Does it plug up leaks? Or holes in the tire?

    • @MurphyMower
      @MurphyMower  Рік тому

      It works very similar to slime, so yes, if you have small holes, it somehow will plug those up

    • @MurphyMower
      @MurphyMower  Рік тому

      And it’s about half the price of slime

    • @MurphyMower
      @MurphyMower  Рік тому

      Of course if it is a fast leak, you either need a innertube or just a new tire

    Spray soapy wooder all over tire to check for leaks. Spray the valve stem also. 👍
