I found a sweet chunk of jet in my granddad's backyard who is sadly dying of dementia. It has hints of blue amber on it too. Definitely keeping it in memory of him.
Lucky.devel! Wisj I could find piece of jet like that! Really happy for you! Is that lignite or anthrosite? Try some sweet almond oil on it it . Might polish up.😅
Very cool 😎 do also cut gems or work the host rock out of the fossils? Jet has been used for jewlery for ever but it's hard to work I heard. Nice video. Take care
I've just updated the website with lots of really cool fossils found in Yorkshire. Feel free to take a look. BuyAFossil.com
I'll do that thanks 😊
What is Whitby Jet made from? Is it got anything to do with oil or coal?
In a million years, something will be bashing rocks on a beach to find your skull inside.
Great vid! The ammonites from there look beautiful prepped! Always nice when nature does it for you lol
Yes they do
Nature does 100 million year old stuff just for you...... you're merican eh!

Mate this is incredible!
Nice! Would love to get out and learn this. Just subscribed hoping you got more vids in ya collection 👍🏻

I would supplement your hunt for jet by going to gem and mineral showes.and ask a tone of questions. French jet is just black glass. Happy searching!😅

I have no idea how they actually carve the jet, it looks incredible once done though.
Great video again Liam, is thevpath okay down there now, or a bit dicey?
It was fine, was nice and dry though
Wow great finds 💪
That jet is huge, is that an ammonite impression on the other side?
Hi mate, Yes it was, but it's worn off which is a shame.
@@ForgottenFossils gutted fir you that would have been a very interesting piece
