Unfortunately, the Zero would suck in DCS, as most of our WW2 aircraft are late aircraft, which would all wipe the floor with a Zero.

I could clearly hear: "Sir, there is an enemy squadron of planes coming our way...fast." - "Ours?" - "Some are,Sir, but there is one plane that seems to be hearding them, and it is russian".
Too bad there wasn't a Vought F4U-4 Corsair in the mix. Don't know if it'll be faster than some of the top speed aircraft, but it could give some planes a run for their money.
I think a flying start done individually would be a fairer test of absolute speed. The single engined warbirds I suspect have an advantage at take-off?
Drag races never use a flying start. That would be more like a speed record attempt where the plane has a long run up and is timed in both directions through a measured mile.
Nice drag race. As we know warbirds perform differently at different altitudes so still we can`t say that 1 bird is best overall. At least we know now that Dora is best at near ground altitude.
Drag race in my generation is huge engine power and off you go , now some blokes dressed as women !! what ever floats your boat . How ever on a serious note why not the Typhoon and the Tempest ?

By far the coolest prop plane ever. The rear prop was attached with exploding bolts, in case the pilot had to bail.
Would be nice if ED added some Japanese and naval warbirds.

I don't get it... most of these warbirds have a much higher top speed than what was posted in the race results. The Jug alone crushes 400 easily.
it's only a 5 mile course though, they were not able to reach top speed in any of those planes.
And altitude has a huge impact. Most warbirds top speeds are recorded at 20000 ft or higher.

Was your final speed measured in knots or mph? A better test might be to start in the air, line a breast and go five miles.

At low level, I think a Tempest would win.
They could always combine the two but the risk would be someone's wig coming off and being ingested by the supercharger.
