Making a REVERSED DOUBLE TWIST Basket - FORGE WELDED

- In This video I show how I make a Double Twist Basket in the blacksmith shop. I saw a picture of one of these along time ago on Ron Reil's website and have always wanted to try making one. The outer basket is formed from 12 1/4" round bars around 11 inches long. The inside basket is formed from 6 1/4" round bar. It defiantly is a tricky project, but it was great fun to give it a go! Hope you enjoy the video.
My name is Timothy Dyck. I got hooked on blacksmithing when I was 13 years old. I quickly realized that in order to keep blacksmithing I needed money to buy costly supplies, so I started making small items and selling them at the local farmer markets. The farmer markets turned into craft shows and craft shows turned into custom projects. Right out of high school I had the opportunity to apprentice under a blacksmith, where I worked with him for four years. We did projects for some of the most prestigious houses around the rocky mountains and were apart of many large public sculptures. I learned many valuable lessons while working under his training, but the desire to set up my own shop and go out on my own was always something I dreamed about.
So in 2013 I started setting up my full time blacksmith shop out of BC, Canada making custom projects and products like railings, gates, lights, stairs, fences and all the many blacksmithing tools required to keep the blacksmithing shop running. I love what I do and this is my dream job. I enjoy showing you what's going on in the blacksmith shop through the lens of a camera and would love to have you along for the ride as I live out my dream of being a blacksmith in the 21st century.

Nokia last release
Ahh, yes... The Nokia 2K20 edition.
I thought he was making a phone for a while there and was confused how that was leading to the twist thing.
the forbidden corded phone of hotness
Blake beat me by four months. It's the forbidden phone.
It's projects like this that are quickly setting you apart from the rest of us smiths. Fantastic work, Tim.
I need this on top of a staff so I can look like Gandalf
Or shazam
Or put it as a rapier basket
@@3npitsu992 I was thinking that too
Bro yes!
That is about the only application I can think of this.
You know the real hard part about this project.......
Polishing the darn thing 😋
Was thinking the same thing lol
Solid blacksmithing. Beautiful.
Damn that is such a good idea, amazing result too.

And you're a million times better than that other steele forging channel...

This is pure skill
Liked for that raindrop clip at the beginning.
So calming and nostalgic.
That just relaxed me to a point your wouldn’t believe.
Why is it so relaxing to watch hot iron pounded on?
Dude... I wish I could super like this video. First forged object I've seen in a long time that had me completely baffled at how it was made, bravo.
Very well put together video too, I'll be honest here, I actually got so invested, I got a bit emotional at that last shot. I almost teared up when you were tucking it away with your other little forged treasures.
Brilliant work.
New to the channel, going through some back catalogue... This is really cool. Love the pile of "stuff I made because it was hard" at the end.
This is quite amazing.
This is amazing Tim! It looks like it should be the top of Gandalf's staff from Lord of the Rings. - Danny
That would make an awesome decor piece in an "iron" stair rail's ballasters.
