Some more fun facts. Sleipnir is one of Lokis children, born of his transformation into a female horse to lure the stallion of a giant building a wall around Asgard as he was finishing it too fast, and finishing before the alloted time would bestow upon him Freyas hand in marriage. Ohhhhh they lured you into their seedy van with curtains on the windows with a sign of Optics inside and gave you the chunky boy. Nice Optic great video
I own the perfect scope of this type , LPVO, an old Busnel Trophy 1.75x 4 x 32 I start to get a sight picture before I even have the rifle completely shouldered , I have used it on several different rifles. I don’t think they make them any longer though. It has a unique crosshairs set up I just like, a small circle around a very fine cross hair. I live in the woods more or less, thick underbrush , very rarely shoot anything over 100 meters , very rarely can see more than 50 yds. That is a nice looking optic I will admit , it appears well built.
I run an LPVO on a mini 14. No problem with quick target acquisition on low power. Also, no batteries, unless you need to illuminate the night reticle.
I am with you on the packaging. I am always in awe of the engineering that goes into some packaging. I am looking at an LVPO because of my old eyes. It seems like once I got into my 60's my body's warranty seemed to expire. My eyes are one of the things that got worse, along with my knees, and various other things.
I have been watching Taofledermaus for years and not once did I ever get a recommendation for your channel. As soon as I saw the info on a video of his I instantly came over here. Screw utube for not bringing your channel to my attention.

Good stuff as always, have picked up a few of your recommended products and have yet to be disappointed, if I had an 18 in ar10 , which of course I don't because I'm in Illinois, this would be a great option in 1-6 or 1-8 😏
Check out my video on the CMMG BR3 Dissent rifle. I just did a little research and found out it’s legal in Illinois and I think it’s better than most AR 10 rifles.
@OGsDangerShow Still a NO-GO here in Illinois, even with the model without the threaded barrel........ Because it has an incredibly deadly "Barrel Shroud"..... Barrels have to be exposed like on a Bolt Gun........God I hate it here
@@chrishelms1967 actually Chris, at the request of one of my viewers, I did some deep research and the BR4 and BR3 rifles are legal in Illinois! If you look through the actual text of the law and at their photo examples, they show quite a few rifles with hand guards that are not considered “shrouds”. Very clearly describe a shroud as something completely different.
I've got idea for you to try. Pick up a 2 and a half to 3x short shotgun scope. Some of them will actually have a square that's turned 45° for the center portion of the reticle it is very fast acquisition, and it should be able to get you out to 300 if not almost 400 yd quite readily. I put one on a 22 years ago and I've still got it on there I am thinking about moving it to my 308 sr-762 in case I want to use it as a close range device but I'm thinking more about putting it on a Close Quarters battle rifle I've made from a shortened Mini-14 it has about a 13 and 1/2 in barrel with a ten welded muzzle brake. And it would provide more than ample magnification for the distances that that rifle will be engaged with. And the advantage with the Mini-14 isn't that it's uniquely accurate. But it will be running when AR-15s have had some little tiny piece of shit break that stops them from running. The many 14 is a far less mechanically complex system than the AR-15
13:40 I have a PCP rifle that I'm looking for an optic for. They cannot ship the product to where I live. But if I find a way, I'll keep in mind to used the code danger not just for the kick back and support but because that sounds sick 👌
Just picked up a 1-8x ED Discovery Optics LPVO. 34 mm tube, Quality ED Japanese glass, FFP, exposed lockable turrets with zero adjustment, and parallax adjustment from 5 yards to infinity. More impressive when you consider the Price 199.99 less 10% discount. I compared this to a friend’s Vortex Strike Eagle FFP for MUCH more $$$, with fewer features, and very similar glass IMHO.
We know you're pulling our leg you pronounced Sleipnr correctly you know it's Odin's eight-legged horse but that's one of the things we love about you OG is your cheekiness
By not spending on that E they pass the savings on to you. 😂 They are big on the norse mythology names. Now that I think about it, there name evokes Gungnir, Odin's spear.
I do find the tactical community's recent interest in LPVOs funny. We've been using them on our hunting rifles for 30 to 40 years at this point, though true 1x power were hard to find back in the day. It was usually 1.25-1.75x base power back then, but the point was to acquire a quick, full sight picture while still having the 4-5x magnification needed to shoot accurately out to 400+ yards.
I use an LPVO with and RMR mounted and an ACOG with an RMR mounted both of these are 4 power and on the LPVO it sits on 3X and anything closer I go to the RMR and dialling up to 4X I am spotting for my sniper buddy. I generally don't use my ACOG much these days. So hearing your thoughts on this scope i would advise shooters to go get one...go one spend your money on it and know that you have an OG recommended item on your rifle and now you are 100% cooler and 100% better shooter ( None of these statements are legal or truthful)
Yeah, I installed a Sig 1-8x24 LPVO on my M400 Tread. While I like it in that it helps me see targets at 100 yds a lot better as my eyes require a trifocal and I can't see well at long distances BUT finding the sweet spot, while not terribly difficult, is not as fast as it is with the red dot I had installed prior. Pros and cons.
OG love your content as usual, and I wanna stress this is in no way a dig I on your video but at least on my end the Audio is a little jacked up like only mono vs stereo I think. love the content keep it up brother
I run primary arms acss on my ar and ak and they're super quick. Just about as quick as a red dot with more range and more than you knew you even needed. They can even range a running man with a rifle. And for 300 bucks with decent glass you can't beat em
For the BR3/BR4, if you use mounts designed for an AK platform, you will have a better cheek weld and will find a better eye relief with the LPVO or any optic on this rifle.
We're pretty much on the same page regarding optics, OG. Some of my long guns have red dots, and others have either 1-4 or 1-6 LPVO optics. There's open-sighted lever actions, too. Long live the Old West. 👍
I have one lever action that has a scope on it, I believe you are familiar with that endeavor. My Marlin 1895 trapper remains unadorned however, and I kind of like having just traditional sights on it. For when I’m feeling “old school“.
OG, ret: excellent video as always. A good review from a practical perspective. However, the 34mm tube is for maximum reticule adjustment, not the amount of light through the scope. The objective lens is what controls the light into the scope.
I'm cheap. And I mainly just plink every once in a while. So I have a 4-9x scope on tall mounts so that I can see the "iron sights" under the scope. Like I said, I'm cheap. :/ That is a nice scope though.
Schott makes really quality glass I use there glass tubes at work for my high pressure boilers sight glasses my boilers run 100 psi at 337.9 degrees Fahrenheit so needless to say it’s really tough glass. O by the way I’m having trouble finding a CMMG BR4 here in Massachusetts kinda sucks. Thanks OG great show!
Weird that the 1-6 is 34mm and the 1-8 is 30mm. Their reticle also looks a LOT like the Atibal 1-10x scopes but theyre gone... wonder if theres a connection between the two. Great review OG and glad to see anothet good one in Idaho. Were up in Orofino.
Never been into LPVO 's , not against them, just always stuck with standard scopes. Thinking about modernizing an buying an upgraded .308. An selling off my current G3, more for the technological advances in tifles these days, so a LPVO would work, hmmm, food for thought. Thx for the vid OG
Thanks for stopping by William. Something modern like this CMMG rifle with an LPVO on top would be about as cool as you can get these days. At least without authorization from your city council.😂
I’d recommend just about anything from Primary Arms. They make awesome shit and have the best prices. I’m a fan of the humble red dot sight for most of my “social” rifles.
Those turrets are nice, but are waaaaaay over the top on an LPVO. They would be quite at home on a full optic, but LPVOs are not meant to dial elevation out to distance for a precise shot. Rather, LPVOs use graduated reticles for holdover at distance which negates the need for precision turrets. Zero and go. I think those turrets add a lot of cost to a scope that could be highly functional without them and a more budget friendly price point which might be more competitive with Arken's excellent EP-8 LPVO.
Hey! Some of us good guys ride HD’s and smell. 😂😂. You know, I thought a retired police officer would have better footwear on too. 😂. Yeah, I will definitely die in my combat boots. I will check it out OG, I have a backpack gun that could definitely use this! Thank you sir! Great video. 🖤
A front focal with good glass at these prices is a damn good deal... I'm with you on the features, no more than 5% of the consumers can actually use the potential of the accessories. Unfortunately internet is full of self proclaimed "specialists" that say that if a product doesn't have the latest NASA technology is worthless and manufacturers are forced to make products that even a S.E.A.L. would find unnecessary. Thing is at that price if that thing works good doesn't matter if it has additional features I wouldn't use, I'm in lol.
Nice commercial... i like how you make your videos and the jokes i understand make me laugh. An lpvo seems to be a good scope to use, especially the one in your commercial. Great video... Ive been looking for a chinesium gun and red dot for a carry gun, temporally in a free state.
lol... spending a year in and out of a hospital and care facilities is not cheap even with gubment help. Limited funds, disabilities. Its taken me 6 months to save $40 (just for a gun). I know there are guns in a lower price range from well known and USA companies. I like stupid jokes. I learned pawn shops in this state, can sell guns. So that will help me get a gun. And if i play the lottery i can possibly get my own pcc or a 2011... hahaha...
I thought PSA made rifles and sold nearly any gun. Didnt know pistols are a thing. And at that price range i will see/read/watch what i can about them. Thank you And i learned how to properly spray paint guns so i should be able to make any gun i get look internet cool...
@board_gamer_geek4309 PSA has become famous for their dagger line of pistols. I don’t own one, but they are evidently very well-made and a lot of guys swear by them. They look cool too, so you shouldn’t have to do much spray painting.
Based on my experience with LPVO's... They are a Jack of all trades but a master of none. What I mean about that... The 1X setting is not a true 1X in most cases (I own 6 of various makes, none is a true 1X like a prism, dot or holograph). You want a true 1X then get a prism or, if you don't have an astigmatism like me, a red dot. There's usually a bit of parallax on most LPVO's at the 1X setting but you do have a good, clean focus on the reticle and target with a properly dialed-in diopter. Not as quick as a dot or holograph but close and unlike those, it functions with dead batteries. If you DO get one, get one with a large outer ring like the Primary Arms ACSS or even a Monstrum (yes, their recent products have amazing glass for the $$$) with the circle-dot... both are fast at 1X... almost as fast as a red dot or holographic. At the max setting (mine run 6X, 8X and 10X) they are not as parallax-friendly as a typical powered scope (e.g. 3-10X, 4-12X, etc). Also, the diopter may need a slight turn to be clear and focused as opposed to the low or 1X setting. I use a paint pen and mark my diopter setting for 1X and full power; easily seen from the rear. Additionally, I have mine set at the low 1X when stored as if they ever need to be used, it is ready for a close in threat. If that threat is at a distance, I have a second or two to roll the power to full and turn that diopter to the proper setting. Lastly, a tip for ya... if you have a MRAD reticle (aka Christmas tree) and use flip-up scope covers, get a adhesive disk or just cut some tape and use a fine-point Sharpie and write your drop at range in mils as well as wind. If you do have to make a long shot, don't get out your ballistics calculator and start monkeying with the dials, just estimate range, look up to the drop and wind and pull the reticle up appropriately. I've done this effectively with a PA 1-10X MRAD on a Desert Tech MDRX out to 700 yards on steel. Not shabby for a LPVO! Enjoyed the vid!
Officer Greg, I wanted to mention that I saw a part of your license plate on the front of your truck. Please cover that up when you’re doing videos you being a former cop I think you can appreciate what I’m saying.
I've made afew recommendations in the past about situations similar to this. Not that I particularly fear much for OG, it'd be a damned dead fool that went after him, but theft is a concern.
My license plate has been shown as long as I’ve had this channel, almost 5 years. It was visible when I was on duty and now that I am retired. I am deleted from the Internet and nobody can find where I physically live so I’m not too concerned. And if somebody stopped by the house, I might have access to a firearm or two to protect myself.😂
@OGsDangerShow well... thats almost true. A very observant person would have noticed in one video (on your way to the range) you took a right out of your driveway, then showed a street sign down the road at a 4 way intersection. Couple that with the outdoor drone veiw from one of your first videos showing your very distinctive studio with that small radio tower, and it would take all of 3 minutes on Google earth. I understand being a ghost on the web, the nsa would have their work cut out to find me as well, but public records aren't the only method, so showing your last name on your daughter's gun case might not be a instant giveaway, but when enough small pieces are provided, the puzzle becomes easy. Again I'm not trying to be alarmist because only a fool would test you like that....but the world is full of fools. We love you, OG. And this is just the community trying to look out for others !
I love my red dots. Can hit clothes pins holding my kids targets at 50 yrs no problem. He gets pissed in a fun way. But the lpvo is far better for longer distances, and close obviously. Hunting rifles get a 1-6, 1-10x. Shorties, home defense get a 1000 lumina light & a red dot

However, the 34mm tube is for maximum reticule adjustment, not the amount of light through the scope.
The objective lens is what controls the light into the scope.
If the objective lens (on any LPVO) is the same as the tube, wouldn’t a 34mm tube gather more light than a 30mm or 1” tube?

Damn, that rifle cleans dust off a tire like magic.
It also cleans windows and scrubs toilets.
Nice review sir. Left here
Feeling like I slept at a
Holiday inn!
Thanks James. Glad you liked it. Grab yourself some continental breakfast on your way out.
Will do sir. I can smell it
From my roo
Sleipnir is the perfect name for the mount since Sleipnir is the name of Odin's 8 legged horse.
I'm cheap. And I mainly just plink every once in a while. So I have a 4-9x scope on tall mounts so that I can see the "iron sights" under the scope. Like I said, I'm cheap. :/ That is a nice scope though.
Nice now I want one thanks I’m getting in trouble with the old lady again
Schott makes really quality glass I use there glass tubes at work for my high pressure boilers sight glasses my boilers run 100 psi at 337.9 degrees Fahrenheit so needless to say it’s really tough glass. O by the way I’m having trouble finding a CMMG BR4 here in Massachusetts kinda sucks. Thanks OG great show!
I’m pretty sure you can order direct from the factory and have it sent to your local FFL. Thanks for checking in, Mike.
@@OGsDangerShowhey OG finally got my CMMG br4 you’re right it’s a sweet rifle thanks for the review OG might have to pick up a Odin
Nice combination. 😊😊😊😊😊
Thanks, DB. Maybe we’ll stumble across each other one of these days.
This scope is very well designed and very well made. The only bad part is that I don’t have one. 😜
3:54 GOD DAMN SHE'S GORGEOUS.
I noticed you marked the scope bolts. Did they ever move?
No sir. Everything stays tight and in place to this day.
Hey oh what optic would you suggest for a 300 blk out for cqb something that won't cost 1000000000 dollars..none suppressed
I’d recommend just about anything from Primary Arms. They make awesome shit and have the best prices. I’m a fan of the humble red dot sight for most of my “social” rifles.
Thanks Greg , I need your help. On my Ruger 1022 what optic or red dot would you recommend . I’m old . Thanks brotherman.
Have you ever used a Primary Arms SLx? Would be interesting how they compare.
I have one right now. Just bought it. Great scope for about half the price and the red dot inside is brighter. I’d go with the SLX all day.
Keep on rolling 😊
loved the "Voters in Idaho" comment!
Yeah but you can zoom in too much into a target so that you miss the "greater picture" sourrounding it.
Unit price per $619.99
You had me at "limited potential vegan ostrich" 😂
Looks similar to a German #4 reticle.
I can't use a red dot. I have astigmatism. So an lpvo would be the route I would need to go.
Or try one of those prism optics that primary arms is making. I really like them because I have a stigmatism as well.
Nice commercial... i like how you make your videos and the jokes i understand make me laugh. An lpvo seems to be a good scope to use, especially the one in your commercial. Great video...
Ive been looking for a chinesium gun and red dot for a carry gun, temporally in a free state.
You want a chinesium gun though?
lol... spending a year in and out of a hospital and care facilities is not cheap even with gubment help.
Limited funds, disabilities. Its taken me 6 months to save $40 (just for a gun). I know there are guns in a lower price range from well known and USA companies. I like stupid jokes.
I learned pawn shops in this state, can sell guns. So that will help me get a gun.
And if i play the lottery i can possibly get my own pcc or a 2011... hahaha...
I’d look into the PSA Dagger pistols. They are very well-made Glock clones and they usually run between $200 and $300 each.
I thought PSA made rifles and sold nearly any gun. Didnt know pistols are a thing. And at that price range i will see/read/watch what i can about them. Thank you
And i learned how to properly spray paint guns so i should be able to make any gun i get look internet cool...
@board_gamer_geek4309 PSA has become famous for their dagger line of pistols. I don’t own one, but they are evidently very well-made and a lot of guys swear by them. They look cool too, so you shouldn’t have to do much spray painting.
I think ima gonna get me one of those fancy ostrich thingys 🤔
Feed it meat.
Dig the beard man. You playing the Saxaphone now?
Smokin’ weed and voting for Bernie sanders. 🤣
The Vegan Ostrich has been hunted to extinction around here. Mmmmm Pop Tarts and Beer!! Two basic food groups. 🤓 👍
@OGsDangerShow well... thats almost true.
@@John-ir2zf💯😂😂😂😂😂
1:44 Social rifles? Never heard the term before! Like full auto Mark Zuckerberg? 🤣 That should banned from the face of the earth 😂😂
Vegan Ostrich, hehe.
Seems like a good option in analysis paralysis atmosphere.
