I think you got it backwards, you know companies will actually sponsor the development of media if they get to be promoted/mentioned. Have you ever seen a tv show, and the main character makes a giant point about what car they are about to drive? Meanwhile the logos of every other vehicle in the entire show, can't be shown? Watch, you'll start to notice it.
I don't know if anyone has pointed this out to anyone wondering, but the reason the ZSU-23-4 Shilka took so long to take down the news helicopter was because it was designed to take down much faster jet aircraft. It can take down helicopters, but its spread was so wide that it kind of missed a few times before a few more managed to tear it apart.
Actually on the menu screen, you could hear various radio transmissions, including citizens dialing 911 reporting Soviet soldiers parachute landing in the parks.

There was no real way the Soviets could win at this late stage of the Cold War. Everyone involved in planning the operation likely knew it was more or less a diversion, an attempt to get the US to pull it's forces from the Europe to defend the homefront so the Soviets could move in, unfortunately they didn't (but probably should've) expect everyone and their mother to have a rifle in their house. They might've had a better chance of breaking out of Seattle if there wasn't a possible rifle in every window, but as it stands, they didn't, and even the Chinese entered into the conflict too late to matter (that and their fleet got picked apart by ASMs once the US got their launchers back) All in all, it was a desparate hail-mary that the Soviets went all-in on, and their gamble didn't pay off

But this is why it's a videogame. It might never have happened in actual history, but for the sake of entertainment, suppose that in this game, the Soviet Union wasn't so crippled in '89 and was actually capable of invading the US. The game looks fun, so I'm getting it regardless of silly historical inaccuracies.

There's no telling what will happen between any two countries in the future.
They didnt win but just declared themselves the winner after the first thing they achieved before us. It wasnt the moon race but the space race, which the USSR totally dominated.
Russia had a problem of killing their scientists. They set themselves back probably a decade in development. They also had poor safety leading to massive material loses
