One of the biggest places I feel I “waste my time” on is modding. As a player with not great mods, I’m constantly remodding my characters and the spending more time reverting the modding back to my starting mod position. I’ve even reached the max mod loadouts which just makes it worse. I wish they could make it easier to revert mod loadouts or give us easier multimod loadouts for characters. What is most frustrating is that every month knowing I’m just going to repeat the remodding I’ve just done as the events, raids, TBs, conquests, and Galactic Challenges are going to repeat. Great content as always Phil!!!!
Dude I agree with this so much. I previously played 2 accounts for years and I would spend on both. anywhere from 20-50 a month on the alt and usually a little more on main. But ever since the raid changes I have had a harder time keeping up. Endor at least let me auto. I stopped doing conquest on the alt months ago and then I stopped doing raid for a couple weeks and then last week I finally killed off my alt account for good. I even kept the alt in a pretty casual guild so there wasn't required farms and there was less stress but the constant pings for two accounts to hit TW or TB and then I knew I had conquest and raid and you add on the events that only last 24 hours and come around 1 a month. It is just too much to manage and I would step away while at work or I was staying up late to get those TB missions in and it was really affecting me how much time was spent. and I know the game isn't built around you have 2 accounts but even now that I am just on a single account I am still checking several times a day to use up energy or buy from shops and I have 4 relic teams for naboo so that adds up to 2 hours+ when you factor in rng attempts and then mod swaps. 5-6 days of the week I really enjoy the grind and I love the game but like I just need 1 day a week to decompress and step away from the game. You nailed it with the example of would you work for CG if they never gave you are vacation day or sick time? no of course not but there isn't a way in the game for me a have that one day break without losing out on something important. I don't want to just quit the game but nothing else in life forces you to be involved multiple times a day for 7 days a week 365 days a year. This is the real burnout that happens over time and they just keep adding more events and more time investment. Conquest is insane how much time is spent and I don't even bother with red crate. I just get box 5 every time and farm a little DCs once I hit box 5. I'd be really open to even some smaller changes like make challenges we do daily and turn them into weekly, up the rewards to match current rewards but if I only had to go check that challenges page once a week that would remove some of the stress. Like how about removing those omega battles that give a single omega and like 100k credits, those are hardly worth the time spent pressing the sim button except im omega poor from LSBs. It doesn't add value to the game experience as we have moved past that. I am happy CG is adding things over time but we need them to look back at what is no longer relevant and move those rewards into different areas. I don't even climb to 1st in fleet every day anymore which is something I did religiously for almost 3 full years. now I just do my 1 battle to get back into top 10 and then call it good because if it takes me 3 battles that is like 40 minutes when you add in the 10 minutes timer but most of that is just waiting out the timer. You had another video not long ago about TB/Raid omis vs GAC because of how frequent and time involved those recurring events can be and that one hit close to home as well. I haven't applied a GAC or TW omi in 3-4 months and I jsut focus on TB and raid. and even toss a conquest omi. I maintain my GAC rank still as it is often datacrons that decide a match now instead of Omi count. for example I can auto gungans in TB and raid which saves me a bunch of time.
I thought of something similar with conquest, called it "replay" where game saves a battle that you progressed a challenge on. Say with current you inficted 18 plagues, 2 staggers, got 5 NS kills, and won a battle with all NS. If you "replay" it uses same squad, same exact progress toward challenges, but still drains their stamina and maybe costs extra energy, or perhaps only gives half as much challenge progression, so some incentive to manually do it for better results/efficency, but can just click it away. While on simming Imo should just remove tickets as they're a non issue even for new players
Simming game modes is a monkey paw. MSF had similar issues, they introduced Simming of certain game modes (basically selecting auto with auto targetting) and it either killed the mode (blitz/galactic war clone) or you were left having to heal a raid team cos it wiped (and you might have also left the node in a hellish place). The best thing swgoh has is the ability to change time zones to make energy drops more convenient. As for "holiday mode", most good guilds allow for "leave of absence" where gameplay would be down. Just take the hit.
Unranked Grand Arena = Squad Arena. I play casually, game is fine as it is. Phil, its ok to take break once in a while. A bit less resources from time to time wont kill you :)
CG need to look at the time required to play the game. Especially if raids are going to take as much time as Napoo and they are going to double the number of battles needed to red crate hard conquest. Players call this 'hell week' when conquest is on. Since Naboo a lot of 6m+ players have quit, it pushed them over the edge. Reddits got a thread about it now.
Why does Naboo take so much time to play manually? Why are their so many clankers in each platoon? Less enemies on the battlefield would shorten the Raid times spent manaually playing. The developers knew this before they released the Raid. Why not make GC have like one less feat, and make it more accessible, and not such a heavy handed endevour each GC? Why not expand the offensive time of TW to 2 days, so your not forced to rush, and be completely dialed in on that 1 day for when each wall falls, and playing accordingly. And people can more readily play for when their work life & personal lives allow to play TW??
How about they put a minimum amount of points earned in TB to get the rewards instead? I can't stand it when a member does nothing in TB to contribute to anything at all, but still gets to claim the entire reward package. There's no reason to make any part of TB simmable at all in my view. I've noticed that members of more competitive guilds get burned out from the sheer demand that's placed on them from the officers of that guild. I've never seen the point of being that way in a game that's very grindy and very much a long term game. I don't follow that mindset since I know that it's a game forst and foremost, and made the guild i had that same way. In the 5 years i was leading it, I only had a single member leave due to the game itself.
Or why not make GAC as simplistic, as it was when you first had the opportunity to play GAC? Why as you progress in skill level are you having to play more & more & more battles?? Why am I having to spend even MORE TIME in the game, as I progress with my toon & ship development? It should be about your personal mastery of each toon, your modding knowledge, & toon/datacron development. Why do I have to play more battles in ROTE, and elsewhere as I progress my game??
You also could make the Unranked GAC matchmaking GP based instead of Skill rating based, that would help weaker players a lot.

One thing they need to do first is add all events to be simmable, not just certain ones.
For sure. GL token events, marquees, fleet missions for capital ship etc. That should be done already

SWGoH players: Yes! A Star Wars game to play!
Also SWGoH players: why do I have to play this game so much?!

I like this idea but CG would monetize that 😭
I would disagree because once you give some a way to sim things people will start complaining endlessly until they can do it every time.
