I’m ridiculous with my collection of guitars, amps and pedals. I enjoy watching your channel as a comfort - someone exceeds my level of ridiculous collecting. Thanks lad!
I looove the ODR-1. It's my go-to overdrive for moderate overdrive sounds, warm and sparkly at the same time. It's very much it's own circuit, not really based on anything else. The spectrum control is quite unusual, it boosts bass and treble past noon and mids before noon. Brian Wampler did a good video on it when he released his own version of it, the Belle, which adds a separate bass control. It also makes my Marshall-in-a-box pedal, a Lovepedal Purple Plexi, sound utterly fearsome when they're stacked.
The filter knob on Rat pedals does something similar as what you describe the spectrum does. I don't have this pedal though. I love my Rat Deucetone (it's two pedals in one). Many overdrive and distortion variations available on it, plus you can run channel one thru channel two or run them separate. Nobody talks about the Deucetone.
I'm an old fart (69) and over the years I've learned a few things. Near the top is to get a nip of the hard stuff and watch your ramblings that help the world make sense. Good on you!! Incidentally I've got the ODR-1 and I love it.
To be honest I don't even see the thumbnails. I wake up and look at my new notifications and click. I do go back to see what your on about. I got more excited to see the pedal than the guitar. Loved the video this week see you next week. Cheers
Love your videos. Look forward to them. You have a great way of making a video. I love Teles but I have to say the earlier ones I prefer. But then this Squier is the bottom of the barrel so can't expect too much. Thank you for always interesting videos.
Awesome video Colin! Man that Eastman is just gorgeous with an old vintage look and vibe to it and sounds fantastic through the new pedal. Love the color combo on the Squier, too. That fretboard looks a wee bit dried out, but otherwise looks like a nice build for the money.
ODR 1 is a great pedal had one for years well worth the money I find it as good as King of tone & the rest of drive pedals got one on my board now. Good review Col. cheers .
The nobels OD-1 is basically trying to mimic a bassman amp. Why? Because the guy wanted his bassman amp sound with him while not lugging around it from what I understand. The spectrum knob is not your regular tone knob one side it bumps mids and cuts treble and some bass but far from all, other side scoops if I remember correctly, haven't used mine on years. Great pedal tho. Anyways enough pedal lore enjoy that bad boy it's great pedal that works with a lot of guitars and amp combos. Also allows for good of sounds on relatively low levels, hence wh yit became popular on Nashvilles club scene or so goes the legend. Peace and have a great weekend everyone
Dan provided much the same background and history on the ODR-1 during an episode of That Pedal Show 2 years ago. Search UA-cam under That Pedal Show and Nobels ODR-1 and you will find the episode. They compared it to a Tube Screamer as part of their demo, but it was not inspired by the Tube Screamer or designed as a clone, as Tired points out.
Hey, I bought my dream amp (I dream small), a Princeton ii, same series as your amp there. We were both made in the same year - me and the amp. The whole Fender ii (2) lineup is the amp community's best-kept secret, and its cool to see someone else mobbing on one like that (18:32, etc). Point to point, pushy-pullies where there shouldn't be, more watts, more channels, better speakers, they're an absolute hidden gem, and I reckon they're gonna take off in price when people wise up. I've collected the Princeton ii, and the Champ ii, and if I can find one like yours in showroom condition, it'll be mine.
It was indeed something & better'n nufing. A touch too distort-o for me, nearly bought it 3 times, but didn't. Very nice playing, there olde chap, very nice indeedy....
You should've gotten the Anniversary one with the dial for the bass cut. Especially nice for humbucker equipped guitars. Great film as always. I always enjoy your films. Thank you for doing them :)
Hi Colin. Everyone else has covered all the bases in the comments today and stolen my thunder so I'll just say the pedal is nice and the Squire has potential. Thanks and Cheers! (Edit) Oops, meant Squier. I'm always correcting others about that. Had a geezer moment there. 😉
For not wanting to make a video, you made a great one as always! Fun Friday watching the jam. Look forward to the cheapo shootout. I'm guessing the Harley Benton will be the best value for what you're getting. Lately they've been really upping the ante.
Old Dog, I've been doing the side of the pick thing forever, can't even pick normally with the pointy end, which requires a different kind of accuracy and if you have it stuck out too far the pick trips on the strings. That's also the part of the pick that'll most quickly scratch your guitar. For the 'Bukovac' style you just barely let the side edge stick past the flesh of your thumb. I always grip it with the point aimed back toward my wrist. You can get some really nice articulation from that rounded side edge and for me it makes it easy to get pinch harmonics on demand. Oh well, just some thoughts I hope you find helpful.
I’ve had the ODR-1 on my board for several years… I play primarily rhythm with a blues/soul band and mostly employ a clean tone (think single coil neck pickup through a Twin), but when I want to kick things up for an occasional solo the ODR-1 delivers in spades :)
For a really good Klon-Clone..... I've been really happy with the "GHOST DRIVE" sold as a kit from StewMac here in the States. It is a fun to build kit and very pleased with the output... highly recommended!!
Watched this and bought one,its not quite like any other od pedal I've heard. Cool vid always entertaining and a pistols riff thrown in can't go wrong.
I love Colin, he says " the action is ridiculously high right now but I am going to persevere"...like he is climbing Mt. Everest and a storm just rolled in..lol Anyways, as far as pedals, for o.d. I got the friedman be-od dual overdrive and the wampler plexi pedal...try those if you haven't yet cuz they are pretty close to sounding like a real plexi
Yaaaayy, more telefuckingcasters...🤣🤣🤣 I would love to have heard that pedal with some P-90s pushing it. I still don't know what made me take your word for it and try an SG Special. But, your tutelage has left me with a new favorite guitar...🤗🤗🤗 Have a great weekend, Col!!!
My favorite mod for a standard tele pickup config is to leave in the original neck pu and put a seymour duncan little 59 in the bridge (99.00 dollar). tap the with coil with a tone knob push pull if you like. its a great setup for not a lot of money.
Oh, to have a 'fall out shelter' Colin... My limitations (other than my playing) are always getting a great overdriven sound (for me) at a very low volume, because of the considerations of my partner AND the neighbours. I've got a lovely 15w Fender Blues Junior Ltd Edition tweed from 2003 and in an uncarpeted office and no pedals it's VERY loud when I get the sound I like. I've resorted to an enormous pedal board including three different overdrives/distortions, but with their volume levels turned really low....an original 'Rat', a Durham/Keeley modified 'Zia Drive' and an Ibanez 'Tube Screamer' Mini. Yep, I'm now afflicted with pedalmania and will now have to try a Nobels ODR-1 at some point. Cheers Colin...🙄
Deluxe Reverb ll - great choice of amp, Colin! In my opinion, the single best amp Fender have made since the 60s. I’ve had a good few from the “Rivera Design” series, including a Super Champ (bought from Hodges and Johnson’s in Chelmsford in 1983 or 4 and one of of the few amps l’ve had from new - still got it,too) two 60w Concerts, a 1x12 and a 4x10 (a real beast that one!) a Princeton ll and two DR lls. They’re all great, but the Deluxe is DEFINITELY the cream of the crop. If it was a bit lighter, it’d be the perfect gigging amp! As it is, it lives in our studio and l mostly gig a 23lb Tone Master Deluxe Reverb, which is far easier on my poor old back. 😊
Great vid as always. Last weekend went to my local Music Go Round (used gear retailer) because I saw they had a ODR1 and a BD2 Wazacraft. I’ve just been hearing about the ODR1 from Uncle Larry and decided I had to have one. I already had a BD2 but figured the Waza would be nice to try. Traded in my Bonsai and EP boost on the ODR1 - the Waza was already gone- but I did stumble on a Benson Germanium Boost - both are fantastic but the ODR1 is just flat amazing with all guitars and amps. Run don’t walk, get one!
Looked like you were enjoying yourself with that ODR-1 Colin. Good to see. They are their own thing but it’s funny they painted them green because it immediately suggests Tubescreamer.
Great. I kept things on the cheap with one electric guitar and a Tube 15 amp but occasionally get GAS pains for another guitar. I've resisted so far but now I will have GAS for pedals too. Thanks a lot. Kidding (sort of). Thanks for the the video.
Drive pedals are boxes O' fun indeed. Personally have too many😊 But they all do get used depending on guitar and type if music being chased.👍 Have an old Squier CV 60's Stratocaster that I LOVE. Happy new Nobels. My favourite knobisms are 10 to 2, as on one's steering wheel, for the Drive and Spectrum, though I do stray to other positions occasionally. Goes well stacked with a Greer Lightspeed. 👍

We [hopefully not me alone] would love your take on clones Klons Tumnus Centura and so on) I actually bought myself a RAT mostly, cos Ive heard you playing it few times and got interested, sounded awesome [and so it is - love it!] So let’s have it !)
There was a higher end Squier Telecaster in Dakota Red that was some sort of Aniversary model released a few years ago with a black brushed aluminium pick guard that I was drawn to, I never ended up buying it though, it looked very much like the Sonic model in this video. That Guild SG copy looks the dogs doodahs, and sounds very good with that pedal in front of it, Im looking forward to more of this!
Nowt better than a budget T Style. I've just bagged a 2nd TE62 in seafoam green, I've got a TE62DB and the Jett. Love them all and would happily use them in place of my Custom shop 60s tele. Great for upgrading although it's not a necessity. Col I've got the centavo pedal it's excellent but the RYRA Klone is easily on par if not a bit better in my opinion.
Hi Man, Great video. As one old git to another, do get the Wampler Tumnus. There’s even a 5x knobs deluxe version for the BEST klon clone for under £200. It's a nice pedal. You didn't mention it in the video( I don't think) opening the battery cover, inside there is an additional dipswitch for the bass cut at the bottom. Also a nice little extra is the metal feet which come out so you can actually screw it to your board instead of using velcro. Always enjoy the videos Bro. :)
I’m ridiculous with my collection of guitars, amps and pedals. I enjoy watching your channel as a comfort - someone exceeds my level of ridiculous collecting. Thanks lad!
Coffee and Guitaristas!
I watch many guitar related videos during the week, but I must say yours are a highlight. I enjoy them very very much. Thank you!
That odr-1 definitely put a smile on your face.....
Black and Red. Great colours.
I agree, that's an awesome color combo on the Tele. 👍
Easily my favourite guitar channel. You’re not trying to sell us anything and honest reviews. 👍🏻

Do you go odr into purple or purple into odr? Which one noise shapes? Curious 👀 😅
@@robinspat ODR into Purple. ODR has a *fairly* flat EQ curve and less distortion so it's just giving it a bit more.
The filter knob on Rat pedals does something similar as what you describe the spectrum does. I don't have this pedal though. I love my Rat Deucetone (it's two pedals in one). Thank you for your demo and kind regards from the Nobels team!
You’re very welcome and I’m pleased you saw my film! 😊👍👍
I have the ODR-1 mini. I think it was the second pedal that I bought. First one was a used Boss Blues Driver. Love the Novels. Great playing as usual.
Great demo of that pedal Col. As I said on the TV channel, you inspire me to finally buy it.
You’re the best cup of coffee I will ever need!!! Have fun Colin!!!
Great playing. Always love the vids, Colin!
Thank you Col! Appreciated Sir!
Decent Steve Jones sound with the Les Paul type guitar and pedal ❤nice 👍
Yeap I'll be saving for one of there peddles . Love the sound .Great down to earth work 👏🏻👏🏻 , as ever Thanks and big love 👍👍
Yeah man, toss the "destructions" aside and dive right in mate!! The ODR-1 sounds amazing!
Love this channel, cheers

Extended tea break this afternoon to watch it as always.
Wow! You seem to be really on fire today and that was the best demonstration of the pedal I have seen. I feel an attack of GAS coming on...
😊🙏
Thinking about purchasing the mini version for my set up.

Great pedal! I use the odr-1 plus (10th anniversary) and I love it!
I’ve also been experimenting with the Bukovac side of the pick thing and while I can see how it should help, I’m nowhere near proficient with it.
Old Dog, I've been doing the side of the pick thing forever, can't even pick normally with the pointy end, which requires a different kind of accuracy and if you have it stuck out too far the pick trips on the strings. It's a reverse Wilko Johnson Tele! 😂👌
That Tele has got a kind of reverse Wilko Johnson vibe ha
First thing l thought of mate!!
Hide the blood!
Haha
Yaaaayy, more telefuckingcasters...🤣🤣🤣
I would love to have heard that pedal with some P-90s pushing it.

Sounds great 👍

Happy new Nobels.

Goes well stacked with a Greer Lightspeed. 👍
Cheers Ian! I like the sound of that Guild with the Nobels.
Who's Ian???
Great choice of pedal Col!
I pair mine up with a comp... p90s luv em!!
Tasty amp too mate!
We're pretty..
Pretty vacant!!
That would be a beautiful guitar to start modding. Certainly worth while .That wonderful sound comes from you not the equipment. Could listen to you play for hours

Just subscribed. Cool vibe, low stress videos. You have that Gary Oldman's character on Slow Horses vibe, kind of 'Dont give a F$%* tell it like it is ' attitude.
Thank you! You sealed the deal for me; I'll be buying a " No Balls " as Uncle Larry wants us to call that pedal.
No balls… nice one I missed that! 😆👍
Fantastic sounding OD pedal and a cool looking guitar that needs a setup !! 👍🎸😆
That pedal does sound nice 👍
Colin that Eastman is looking amazing! So is this where we discover you can experiment with a whole new world of pedals now haha
We’d be in deep trouble if I started getting into pedals… 😂
Well, it had to be a tele :D
The pedal sounds really good... I like that.
Dono, I've tried various other pedals and they sound good but always seems that I go back to my soul food 😊✌️
Am not really a pedal guy, but i loved this weeks edition of 'fuck that sounds good' 🎵🤘😄
We [hopefully not me alone] would love your take on clones Klons
Tumnus
Centura and so on)
I actually bought myself a RAT mostly, cos Ive heard you playing it few times and got interested, sounded awesome [and so it is - love it!]
So let’s have it !)
An odr1 is its own thing, it’s not a clone of anything
another great video mate
There was a higher end Squier Telecaster in Dakota Red that was some sort of Aniversary model released a few years ago with a black brushed aluminium pick guard that I was drawn to, I never ended up buying it though, it looked very much like the Sonic model in this video.
That Guild SG copy looks the dogs doodahs, and sounds very good with that pedal in front of it, Im looking forward to more of this!
Have you tried out the Enhancifier pedal. It’s an analog booster pedal.
Rock on !!!
Ever tried a Wampler Triple Wreck pedal? I have one and I find it hard to control, but it does have some amazing tones.
ODR-1 Pretty sweet!
The Wampler Tumnus mini is about £150
Pair the Nobels and that with an inexpensive magical 4x knob TC Spark that’s all the gain you need.
That said I’ve got a Snouse Black box into the Nordland ODR-C into the Pogo pedals Zen Ray into a Wampler Ego compressor into the Danelectro Roebuck “modistortion” clone…
Then to my wobble and time pedals 😅
There’s a bass cut switch on your Nobels… my Nordland ODR-C is made in Germany and by the guy Kai who designed the Nobels 40 years ago, so it’s the G&L to Fender parallel 😊
Love the Red & Black on the Tele. Like a Trans Am,
Woke up had coffee and watched and fell right back to sleep. I need to brew that coffee stronger. 🤣
I’m good at curing insomnia too! 😆👍
@@theguitaristas 😂 My gal drove up and got in around 2am. I didn’t last long after waking up. ☕️
Wow, nice explosive crunch there. Neck pickup seems articulate. I love the Squier Sonic Mustang, so I am guessing the quality is similar.
Good morning from Paducah Kentucky. I've got two novels they all sound a little different. Yours sounds great

10:00 Try a JHS Notaklon. Great Klone and fun to make too.
