I noticed that at 16:17 the nova bomber buffed the entire horde even though it shot only two zombies. The best way nerf them imo is to let them affect only one or two. It's ridiculous that it can transform the entire horde into demons.

IX is a great map and arguably BO4's best map.(Not saying it is the best map cause AE exists but IX definetely can be debated on)
It's so refreshing to watch a video about Alpha/Omega and have it be fair and constructive.
Imagine that the "more than friends" quote was added to the game only for Rizzo to be forced to make this review, and once we continue the dark aether story the first thing Samantha says is "Gray, you are more than a friend, you are like a sister to me."

Dude I loved Rushmore. I had this idea for the Super EE rewards. I thought it would be so cool if for completing the Aether storyline you'd get Rushmore in an ADAM unit as a blackout character and for Chaos you'd get the High Priest of Chaos as a blackout character. Would have been awesome and way better than the literal nothing we did get.

Alpha Omega is one of like 3 maps I pretty much exclusively play for the Easter Egg Quest. The vibe goes hard and the steps are genuinely a lot of fun (especially when you have that cheat sheet up for the clocks)
Alpha Omega was one of my first Easter eggs, and it’s great for that
I did the Easter egg for this map 6 times the first couple weeks of release. It was the first quest I ever did solo
Yeah a lot of people hate on AO but it has arguably the easiest solo EE and is almost entirely solo friendly, which is something i dont think people give it enough credit for.
16:00 the Nova bomber is EXACTLY what ruined this map for me and why I never got into it at ALL. It's the same scenario as the Vampires that ruin DOtN for me. Take these specials out of their maps and it can only improve the gameplay experience. I would get soooo annoyed when one of the valves would goo up and when cleaning them, I'd be ambushed by a whole horde of super sprinters in this tight area. I just wasn't having it with this one. Single handingly ruined the whole thing.
The difference is that I love the vampires on DOTN. They add to the chaotic gameplay and the aesthetic of the map, plus they have perfectly balanced counters that the map gives you. They were also heavily nerfed in updates so that their spawn rates are balanced now. On top of that, they make you think differently while playing and can change the player’s priorities when running a horde.
Nova Bombers though? That’s just artificial difficulty.

Kind of a weird example of a gameplay issue that isn't present in Chaos but is in Aether, like with the atrocious fast travel times/location in Blood vs Voyage's excellent locations/fast travel times
I won't lie, Alpha Omega has my favorite atmosphere of any zombies map, it feels so chaotic 24/7 with its bright colors mixed in with all the fire and blood and plants, toped off with the electricity and the incoming storm. Even the zombie designs draw me in

The chimney throw is one of my greatest enemies
One of my favorite maps no cap. Can't beleave he didn't mention manikin round. You can beat the valves by turning them once, then dispatching the small horde, then nothing can wipe you out for the rest of the valve. The insane buff zombies are a unique and fun challenge.
Honestly rizzo you are literally one of the youtubers that got me into zombies. I always now look forward to your analysis since you have a very non bias take on them and you make me realize things I would not really look into. Thank you great video

I have a lot of issues with this map but holy shit that round transition music is the best in all of zombies and I stand by that
I think my favorite things in these reviews is when you put Zach's funny lil gremlin screams over Zombies and Special enemies

Great thoughts as always Rizzo. One question: if you were to play on custom mutations and disable the nova crawlers, would this be one of your favorite maps? When I ask this I don't mean to defend the map at all and say "why don't you just play custom mutations lol", I'm just genuinely curious. As far as I know disabling pests would disable nova bombers and the valves clogging up since its caused by them.

I know a lot of people don't like this map but I've always loved it since I played it when it came to PC. I really like the more chaotic gameplay when it came to training or playing more close to zombies spawn. Which is why I love Voyage and not really IX because I feel there are some fatal missteps they took with the special zombies. Overall great review and hope you review tag some day

Yep. The actual maps in BO4 are really good, but the core gameplay systems let them down super hard.

I’ve always found alpha omega extremely underrated. I’ve found most of the problems people have had with the map can be fixed by just playing custom mutations.

Not related to the map, but I'm super happy that you mentioned both Raven and Sledgehammer at 22:50 when talking about COD 2020. The amount of times I've told people that it was both developers, only to be called an idiot, dumbass, or them just not knowing is baffling.

Honestly I really liked Alpha Omega, it's probably in my top 5 if not top 10 maps. I just love the vibes, the easter egg not being too hard or too easy, the elemental ray guns. I just love it all so much, however I 100% understand all the points you made for hating it and will admit I'm not a fan either but I'm one of the people that can get past it lol

Not top 10 for me, but I still think it's better than people think. It's one I can just vibe on and turn my brain off.
I actually really loved this map, it definitely had its problems but I thought it was hella fun to playthrough, the overall Aesthetic of the whole map was really well done in my opinion and I really enjoyed the idea of there being an elemental mark 2’s. Something else that I also really loved was the fact that we could play as the old and future aether characters.

AO is a weird one for me, I love rounds 1-25 but any round after that is an annoying nightmare that would put me off the map for weeks until I got an itch for it. Damn I might re-download BO4 brb.

Phenomenal work as usual, John! As much as I despised Alpha Omega when it first released, I'm starting to get a sense of nostalgia for it. Though that being said, I really have zero desire to play it because the gameplay still sucks ASS. The nostalgia comes from the fact that the Aether saga was close to wrapping up that summer of 2019 and thanks to Alpha Omega, I was preparing for that possibility of saying goodbye to Primis and Ultimis, which is something Tag Der Toten made me confront and embrace. Despite the end to Aether in Black Ops 4 being rough, everything back in that summer just...felt right, you know? (ie going to RTX 2019, no pandemic, even Alpha Omega's release, etc.).
Thanks for the input you provided on this map and thank you for making this video on a Black Ops 4 map in 2021. It was nice to go back to that era temporarily through your work but I guess I gotta say goodbye to the Primis and Ultimis era yet again : (
I'll keep those characters close to my heart though as I move forward into an uncertain future. Anyway, I hope we to speak again soon! Have a happy holidays and take care!

I laughed when you said in your Twitter that you would only review AO if GreyxSam was canonized, only for Forsaken's intel to exist.
It's debatable if it's canon, and remember Activision usually does these things to make controversy blow over
They zoomed in the mark 2 iron sights and made them bigger in AO after a while lol

The point that I dislike the most about bo4 is that to make eastereggs is that you must necessarily have the ps plus active, if u don't then just doesn't work.
