This series saved my dog's life. I thought she was having a false pregnancy, but then I notices a few drops of pinkish discharge. My dog keeps herself meticulously clean, so it's a miracle I even noticed it. Because I've seen episodes like this before, I took my dog to the vet just in case. The vet did an ultrasound, and said that my dog had pyometra, and needed to be booked in immediately. Thankfully the surgery went well, but apparently it was even worse than we thought. The vet said that if I'd waited one more day, I would have lost her. So thank you Bondi Vets! You really do make a difference.

The amount of respect I have that Max being put down wasn't recorded is immense, a lot of producers would jump at the chance to have that on camera. A moment like that is super personal and emotional, and it's hard to recognize it as such when you have a camera on you the whole time. These people really care about their patients and their parents

We went through the same thing as Max. My girl stopped eating on a Tuesday, got her to the vet by Thursday and the X-ray showed her entire chest was filled with cancer. She had no previous symptoms. She was not going to make the week so we were having the vet come to the house to put her to sleep but she crossed the bridge with my husband holding her before the vet came. You’re devastated because she was our baby but we had 13 beautiful years with her. My heart goes out to Lana. And to Kate-they have such a difficult job sometimes.

I had a 13 year old dog and I watched her slowly fade away during her last two years. She had diabetes and, just like Max, at one point her heart collapsed and she had trouble breathing. We tried every med, oxygen, everything, especially since my parents wanted to try it all.
As for me, not putting her down before mother nature took her is one of my biggest regrets.

I like the way they show death on the show in general. No showing of the dead or dying animal or the owners in tears afterwards. But they still show their stories, which is an important part of being a vet. The death is announced, that they didn't make it. No drama or overly sad - just a feeling of compassion in the voice of a factual statement.
I think, that that is very respectful way to deal with it.

I lost my childhood dog to pyometra. She got it while on heat and the bleeding looked like normal 'heat bleeding' so we didn't think anything of it at first. When we found out the vet gave the option to desex her, but ended up not doing it bc of her age (she was 14). Instead she just got antibiotics and lots of tlc, which sadly didn't work.

Thankfully it healed once we started monitoring Acacia's suckling more closely and after a few days she had no interest to suckle on him. It was lucky that I noticed the sore developing because everyone else thought it was adorable and didn't think it was important to make her stop.

What I don't understand is why these owners, caretakers of these little critters wait so long to call in medical help. I've seen a few episodes now where infections and symptoms grow over days or weeks to where they are so terrible, before they finally call the vets. A few where it was too late and the pet dies.
One little puppy went from walking funny, then to falling over, then finally loosing the use of its back legs before the owner took it in. The it was took late. Heart wrenching to say the least.

It's always easy to criticize. We don't know people's situations. Sometimes a person can't get time off work ( no work, no money for vet), sometimes things happen over a weekend or holiday and in case you're unaware, emergency vet visits to a specialist are more expensive than your regular vet, perhaps the car is out of order. I prefer to assume that people are trying to do their best for their furry friends. And yeah, I've made mistakes myself. How about not rushing to the vet when the glands in your dog's throat feel swollen because you're going for a regular visit next week? It was lymphoma. The expected prognosis is six weeks from diagnosis to death, untreated. And chemo costs the world. So, when you criticize, remember, you could find yourself in that position more easily than you could believe.

    • @DIDYOUSEETHAT172
      @DIDYOUSEETHAT172 2 роки тому +2

@@APrimbun A phone call to a vet to get an opinion is free. I have heard time again the most used phrases with illness. "Lets see how they are tomorrow!" Followed by "Why did I wait so long?!"
Yes there can be circumstances but more often or not the thing I have heard with these tragic mishaps is they suspected something was wrong for days or weeks, and just figured they would give it a day or more to see if they get better on their own.
That is what gets me, they do not even call a vet to describe symptoms and get an opinion. I don't know where you live but here there are phone numbers you can call for animals and humans. You call in describe the situation, a practitioner advises. Even if you don't have that kind of service, why guess? As I said a 5 minute phone call to a vet does not cost a cent.
I was a manager of a company that moves oil rigs. One of my employees had a dog that had just had surgery, and he asked me to watch her as he made a run. It was a nice summer day so he left her tied up outside my office. I came outside to find a big Shepard humping her. I chased him away, she looked ok, but I called the vet number anyway, they told me I should take her to emergency immediately. So I dropped everything, put her in my truck and took her over, by the time I arrived there were spatters of blood all over my passenger seat. So when ever I see these stories that pops into my mind. One simple phone call is all it takes to avert disaster.

They post clips of specific cases on UA-cam and then post full episodes when they come out. The full ep isn't a repost, just some of the cases have been shown before, like Teddie. It is a new episode. People should be thankful they release clips and teasers between full episodes, they could just do nothing. No reason to complain. They are vets, their job isn't to entertain us, it's to help animals.

I can’t believe Teddy liked the taste of the glue but evidently he did. Someone should write to gorilla glue to change the recipe. OMG it’s huge. Thank goodness it wasn’t glued to the inside of his stomach. What a mess.

I noticed that several times animals being anesthetised develop cardiac or pulmonary arrest. As an RN and Animal medical technician, I suspect that the pre anesthetic meds are going in a bit too fast. This is not uncommon, unfortunately.

How can a dog even get gorilla glue. Like the packaging is tough to open and something like that should be put in high places. So irresponsible.

Oh please don't blame the owner. No doubt they are already blaming themselves, and they have paid the price. We all make mistakes! This was an awful one, and I appreciate that you only want to warn everyone. Yes, we need to be careful when entrusted with pets and babies lives, and be aware of potential dangers. It's good for everyone to know to be very careful, and not to leave anything to chance. It's an awful price to pay for a momentary lapse of foresight.

Dogs that eat inappropriate items are unbelievable. Living with them is a constant stress/battle. You love them so much and you try so hard but the reality is you cannot watch them every minute of the day and they are fast.

Dog eating gorilla glue? My own silly 50 lb pibble ate carpet padding when we pulled a carpet. It got stuck in her Duodenum and she had to have surgery. The surgery went well. The surgeon called me and goes "well we got it out. I have no idea what it is though. Its like a mass of multicolored foam shreds". He sent me a pic, and I was like "its the padding of the carpet we pulled". He goes "well thats a new one.".
My girl got called 'carpet muncher, literally'for a few months after.

I feel so bad for Max. His health has had to of been deteriorating for awhile and his owner hasn't gotten him checked out. Some of that stuff probably could of been prevented if he had been brought in sooner. I can tell she cares about him but she has not been taking care of him. Look at how dirty his poor face is. He's completely blind. She should know, with age, more illnesses or such things are going to come on. And if you want your dog to live his best life, you can't ignore the symptoms until he stops eating. It makes me so mad.

Why doesn't breeders talk about desexing when selling the puppy?
Unless it's a backyard breeder (mainly offsprings from those in this show), but then almost certain health issues unrelated to being intact is worse than being intact alone.
