100% ... I did this trail back in 2002 and I was super out of shape and it was VERY terrifying ... I won't even consider doing it in rain or snow. Now days I wouldn't might going back and trying it again. But Adam ... you didn't just do this once ... you were going up and down the slabs to get your cameras ... you are truly a spiderman :)
This is the only channel I will drop what I'm doing to watch when the notification comes thru. Another great video and hike! You must have quite a few of the terrifying 25 checked off by now
You're the best! Glad you enjoy the videos so much. Luckily I have plenty of T25s still in the can to show before the injury happened! I was more than halfway done I think!
Adam!! Wow, this is fantastic and probably one of the best videos showing this climb. All of the extra work you did to get those shots - amazing!! Congratulations. Really fun and scary to watch. Be safe!
Awesome job! Also thank you for doing your own personal PSA on the difficulty of this Trail while ensuring that people actually stay on the slide to eliminate all of the erosion of people trying to avoid the trail itself. Keep it up out there. You are doing great!
Adam, your videos are getting more amazing all the time. This was fantastic. Of couse, my favorite so far is Mount Washington desolate in the snow. But i love your videos; you should have 100k subscribers!
I did this one this summer in less than ideal conditions - wet and foggy - truly terrifying!! I hiked solo, descending the slide, and thought I got off trail since the slide section is not well marked coming down. Without the energy to go back up and dreading the thought of bush-wacking my way home once I got to the bottom, I started yelling out into the wilderness to no avail to see if anyone else was on trail. Then at the very base of the slide I found a marker - I was never so happy to see a splash of paint on a tree!!!
we almost had problems with not enough markers on Huntington Ravine trail, at the bottom coming down to the top of the boulder field [ 40 years ago]. we were searching left and right for a while before my friend found a marker. A very big relief. going up it 3 years ago just 2 turns before the chimney near the top of the steep part, Icould not see a paint spot and there were2 or 3 possibile choices. I tried the middle one which went staight up, but ran out of handholds at the top of it, so I had to back down it for several feet. That was my scariest moment climbing.
Awesome video as always, Adam. I did Flume during winter 2012 and I agree, it is crazy. The sheer verticality is leg shaking. Highly recommend ascending the Flume Slide trail and descending Liberty Spring Trail. It adds some miles to the total but makes for a less panic inducing trek!
Totally agree! That is exactly what I did that day. Hopped over to liberty and went down that way. But saving mt liberty for another video in the future!
My buddy and I did this trail in 94. We camped on the bottom and hiked up and down it. Great times. We also did liberty on another trip and camped at liberty spring same summer
I hiked this! You used to be able to access this trail from Flume Gorge. I was in my early 20s when I did this hike and loved it! Very challenging hike!
I did this one in mid July and it was so cool! I started at the Lafayette trailhead, walked the 2 miles on the bike path and did a loop all the way to little haystack and down the falling waters trail. Flume has such a great summit and on a clear day I think it has the best views of the notch. Definitely less crowded than the other peaks next to it.
Fun fact my brother carried that tree branch as a walking stick from the liberty summit to the flume summit, glad to see it’s still there and you featured it in your video 😂
This video inspired me to go hike this trail. It was a nice day and it took me just around 6 hours and I made it right at sunset! It was hard but very worth the amazing view!!😁
How many times did you climb the slide to get all those different angles? Most people go up it once and say "glad I don't have to do THAT again" or "at least I don't have to go back down this"
lolol I think I literally spent over an hour just on that one super steep slide part. Maybe 5 or 6 times up and down because of other people messing up the shot and the damn sun darting in and out of the clouds in the middle of filming. It all was so so annoying but worth it in the end. What an epic scramble!
Hey Adam; did you do Great Gulf over time in sections - or did you do it all in one go/have a video of you doing it all in one go. I’m @ 45/NH48; Doing The Bond’s next weekend to wrap it up. @18/T25’s. I’ve got Ice Gulch, Great Gulf, Great Gully, Chemin Des Dames, Subway, Sphinx, and Six Husbands to go! Going to do Sphinx and Six Husbands via The Caps Ridge Trail - for my next T25 hike (Planning on somewhere between July 1st and the 10th) - and finishing the T25’s before my 35th in mid September! I’ll be giving myself plenty of time in between to go out to Maine and VT for some VT5’s/ME14’s as well as Acadia National Park for The Beehive and Precipice Trails! #AdamHoyt Lmk if you’d be down for a hike! I live right on NH/MA border right off RT93. I’m planning on one hike every 10-14 days for the next 4 months! That goes for any other hikers watching this as well; down for the wildest, and most beautiful hikes out in New England!
Hey I am still working on my great gulf because I was injured part way through that hike and never finished it. I hope to finish that hike sometime soon. I hope all the hiking this summer so far for you has been fruitful and you earned yourself some patches!
You don't have to walk the bike path for long if you park at the Basin and walk in that way. There's a cutoff about .3 in from the Basin parking lot that takes you to LST and on to the Flume trail
Did it by myself in late October with a slight mist all day. Rocks were wet and i should of turned back. If i do it again i will do it with someone and bring ropes. It becomes rock climbing and not a trail anymore. Enjoy.

O ya it is a doozy for sure and I was scrambling all over that thing. It took me over an hour to clear that one huge slab with all my angles lol
This is the only channel I will drop what I'm doing to watch when the notification comes thru. Another great video and hike! You must have quite a few of the terrifying 25 checked off by now

Glad you enjoyed it! Yes this was quite the ordeal to do through for all that footage but I think the end result has been worth it. So tough!
Awesome job! Also thank you for doing your own personal PSA on the difficulty of this Trail while ensuring that people actually stay on the slide to eliminate all of the erosion of people trying to avoid the trail itself. Keep it up out there. You are doing great!

Yes I was really happy with how this one turned out! I couldn't agree with you more. tell all your friends! lol

That sounds so harrowing. Glad you made it down safely. Definitely not a trail I would want to tackle in less than ideal conditions!

@@AdamHoyt looking forward to it!

Always Great Memories. I did liberty on my loop back for this trail!
I hiked this! You used to be able to access this trail from Flume Gorge. I was in my early 20s when I did this hike and loved it! Very challenging hike!
Interesting how they have changed the route over the years. Glad it brought you some great memories
Wow! I don’t mind a climb or some scramble… but I’m smart enough to realize this is out of my league! Thank you for all you do with these videos!
Glad you enjoyed it! it was a doozy!

that sounds like a spectacular hike. Yes people are really sleeping on it!
I just did this yesterday. No joke. I’m impressed you filmed this.
Hope it was still as fun for you! It was a very long day of filming lol
@@AdamHoyt Yeah it was a blast! I did the Mt. Flume-Mt. Liberty loop.
That was a very tough up. I agree, up but not down. Another great vlog Adam. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it. Yes this one was a freaking doozy!
Hey! You didn't look terrified! Not even once!
I would definitely like to hike that one!
You should!
Hope you're well on you way to a full recovery Adam!
Things are going very well thank you! Better than I ever expected!

Bahaha sure made it easy to find the spot lol
Did this today, your video was a tremendous help when it came to the technical parts of the climb on the slabs!
Glad you found it so helpful and that it worked out for you!
Wow Wow and Wow!!! What a hike and what a view from the summit and the video was amazing!
I know right!
This video inspired me to go hike this trail. It was a nice day and it took me just around 6 hours and I made it right at sunset! It was hard but very worth the amazing view!!😁
that's amazing! glad it was inspiring and that you found the view worth it!

First time I did that trail was going down... people going up where looking at me like I was crazy... it was a bit crazy looking back.
Seems like a mistake to me!
I like your theme music 🙂🎶
Thank you!

Thx for attempting this beast, !!! Do u carry any filteration for water when u hike as acback up ? Thx , again great editing!
Thank you! glad you enjoyed it! no I only do day hikes and carry all my water bottles with me. But I'm sure you could bring filters!

I came down this trail doing the loop backwards. It was so sketchy. A slightly rainy day at that. Thought i was going to die. 🤣😅🤘
Omg that is not the right way and it was wet. Dude that’s so sketch! 😮😮😮
Omg!!!!!
Did this hike in reverse in the dark while it was raining a couple days ago and it was not fun at all, very terrifying, multiple cliffs.
Oo god why would you do it reversed! I’m scared just thinking about that! And wet! Jeeze!
I think I saw you on the trail! that knee brace looks familiar...
You probably did! I spent hours on that trail that day!
How do you get back down? As difficult as climbing up it seems, I imagine going down woukd be even worse? Did you go another way ( loop trail)?
In the guide section I describe how I made this a full hiking loop with mt liberty
Did this in 2004 as part of a 5 day camping trip. Pivotal moment in my young life.
That sounds like an epic trip and memory!
Did it by myself in late October with a slight mist all day. Rocks were wet and i should of turned back. If i do it again i will do it with someone and bring ropes. It becomes rock climbing and not a trail anymore. Enjoy.
Dang I would definitely not do it wet!
but how do you get back down these terrifying 25 trails?? 🥲
