My Medium Weight Backcountry Ski Touring Setup
Вставка

- I currently have three ski setups: light, medium and heavy. this video covers my medium setup which is probably the setup I ski on the most. This is a great ski and boot combination for those days when you don't know what you might encounter. Update: Just tore the edge out of these skis on Shasta so I'm in the market for a new pair of do-it-all ski's
Fischer Hannibal 96 amzn.to/340lJ0i
Carbon Travers Boot amzn.to/2MHkxsO
Atomic Backland Binding amzn.to/2pNkNxu
what i got out of this video is that i need a kristoff
Kristoff is the guru...Like the "wizard behind the curtain"...Why are why listening to his sage??...HAhahh
“This is my Medium setup” : 5lbs lighter than any setup I’ve ever owned.
I had to weigh mine after that comment... I’m at 12.3lbs...
😂😂 I had exact same reaction...
Sub 1000G boot is medium now 😑😭
Oh boy I am old and from a different time and world.I used to do back country skiing in Colorado in the late 1960's and early 1970's on my Trisulnutt wooden skis with 3 pin bindings with no heal clamp downs. We sure did ski lost of incredible places leaving tracks others just look at in awe! One other advantage was, we always had the entire mountain range to ourselves.
Thanks SO MUCH for making this channel! We were pausing old videos and zooming in on screenshots to figure out what gear you used. This is way better :)
"Somewhat okay skiing"... I'm in.
Oh but... WoW! Great footages, great diction, editing is swift, and technically... you aren’t afraid to point at your gear downsides. Love this vid.
You won a subscriber.
Would love to know what your light setup is!
500 grams
Who the hell is Kristoff?
Haha, i asked myself the same question!
If you watch the main Chanel you learn that this is mainly a hiking Chanel over a skiing Chanel and Kristoff is this guys best friend or something that he always does stuff with.
Hi there!
@@cnuila the man himself
You guys ever gonna come to Canada? Here in Alberta, we got some pretty sweet mountains eh!
Can you review the pants you use?? Or climbing gear, like harness, etc.
I bought that boot because of you guys, it is glorious... even 3 years after its release
Ive seen people using really short skins, from the front to back of the heel, in order to shave weight, but also to get better glide - any experience with this?
Thanks for this. Keep these videos coming!

I like the channel! I'd be curious to see what your typical backpack loadout looks like when touring.
I've never felt any less secure on really light race bindings than on heavier dynafit versions. Race bindings on every touring ski I own, and my fatter skis are all driven by older TLT6's. With the range of motion of those Fischer boots I would never even think about the loss of a true flat position or climbing risers.
the ultimate for everything powder. black diamond helio [115 for bc pow], dynafit tlt 7 boots and dynafit bindings. thats the real deal, no bs
Danny, What pants do you typically wear for your alpine hikes when skiing? I believe I’ve seen you guys wearing soft shell pants on a few of the videos.
We wear soft shell ski touring pants on probably 99% of all our winter outings. A good example of one of our favorites is the Dynafit Mercury 2 Pant. We both own a few pair in different colors because they check all the boxes for what make a good ski touring pant.
Christof Nuila Thanks for responding, Christof! I need to pick up a nice pair of soft shells.
Didn't know you guys had a second channel. Very cool.
I can't delete my photos 👋🥴🏊🏊🏊🏊🏊

Sorry I broke the 420 likes
Very interesting and informative video. Keep it up, hope to here about your "light" setup as well...
Nice video! You should do a video featuring your gear room. It looks really organized!
Nice, thanks for sharing. Look forward to seeing your lightweight and bomber set ups.
Nice. I'm on the Fischer Transalp 90s. Perfect for out here on the east coast.
What map software do you usually use to plan and track?
I’m on hannibals, speedfit bindings and alien rs’s. Awesome setup!
Interesting!
Hey, I think those leash loops are designed to break like that in case of avalanche, so the skis do not become an anchor. Or in case of a heavy fall they can still release completely from you so you don't tangled or twisted up by a ski that is lodged under an immovable object. Not sure how the loop broke but I think that part is designed to fail exactly like it did.
Where can i get a hat
Salomon mtn expoloer 95 is legitness! recommended for sure
This! I skied these skis for years! They punch above their weight. Little hooky in heavy snow, but great ski! Now on Camox Freebird, also great, and more damp (but maybe less fun and dramatic).
Thoughts on the SHIFT bindings?
Brad MacDonald good, but annoying stop skis issues. I’ve been advised to consider the new kingpins - carbon.
it's not trAvers it's travErse!!!!!!
Very cool! Have you tried the Salomon Shift bindings? I wanna get an at setup for this season.
Would also like to know about his views on the shift bindings for those dipping there toes in to back country/off piste.
You don’t even telemark? Why are you still talking
