More great tips to remember when I get to this point. Maybe the bugeyegye should think about selling the cylinders with the notch cut out. Crazy to have to pull the engine for what should be an easy job. Also love that remote bleeder!

I believe the clutch slave cylinders the Bugeye Guy sells have this mod.

Really enjoyed this episode. A had a similar issue when I installed the box with the tight fit of the rods. 😂I purchased that slave cylinder and remote bleeder valve from Bugeye guy as well. Thank you for the great video.

I had The same issue with the tight fit with the master cylinder and rods. I think everyone probably runs into that😂 I also purchased the slave cylinder with the modification and the remote bleeder valve from Bugeye guy. Thanks for the great video.

Nicely done Ian.. I like that remote bleeder. Great idea. Bugeyeguy has some useful products. He’s a good resource. I visited his shop a couple of years ago and he gave me a tour. Really nice guy and very helpful with advice.

I have a bunch of the pedal boxes and wonder if I should just restore all of them then pick two for my cars, seriously. Ditto rearends and whatever duplicates like generators. I'll bet out of the 6 or 8 I have, I could make two that look that nice when they're done. We'll see!! Gotta get these kids out of the house off to college then I can get to the floor pans and start making progress. You're so far along, every week making it happen!

Always enjoy your vids and it is coming along nicely. Probably just me ... but why didn't you wire wheel/paint the rods and springs? Such nice work on the pedals. Am I nitpicking? Looking good!!!!

I agree. Such nice work getting it all back together. I find that just soaking those small parts in vinegar removes all the rust. Cheap and easy. WD40 after.

You're not the only one to encourage me to shine those bits up :). I have to take it apart again anyway as I got a couple of bits in the wrong way.

You could have soaked those bolts in white vinegar for a few days. Then rinsed them off with water and a wirebrushing down to clean bare metal. Then spray with a rust prevention paint, and they are like new again. I keep a tub full of vinegar around for derusting all small bits that are rusted.

Thanks for the informative video. I need to bleed the slave cylinder on my 61 Bugeye and plan to install a remote bleeder, but before I do that I have to access the slave cylinder. I've heard horror stories about accessing the slave cylinder. Do you have a video showing how to access the slave cylinder (transmission intact) and replace the existing bleed screw with the remote bleeder you showed in this video?

Glad you enjoyed the video. I don't have video showing access yet but I will be sure to include it when I get around to bleeding mine. In the meantime check out these Andy's MG Adventures videos... ua-cam.com/video/xK0_M9lsNIY/v-deo.html & ua-cam.com/video/K0boRCDPLnA/v-deo.html

Remember if you label anything on the bugeye it must be done in French AND English or Officer Aykroyd will pull you over. Also I hear it helps to pre bleed the mc on the bench.

Bench bleeding is in the plans... won't be for a while though.

Nice vid. My trouble is that after replacing the master and both break and clutch linkage rods, I'm not sure how to adjust the master clutch rod length. As I drive the car the slave is not fully relived of pressure and the pressure continues to build every time I use the clutch. Eventually it keeps the clutch engaged and wont release enough to drive until the pressure slowly escapes back the the master. Do I make it longer (more shaft in the master) to relieve this pressure or shorter? Anyone have any ideas?

I would suggest posting your question on the AHEXP forum (www.ahexp.com). There is a great knowledge base there and many willing to share.

Loving your content. But! If you didn’t lacquer the master cylinder it will be orange in a flash!!

Thanks Geoff. Installed the master ten months ago and so far so good. Granted, it hasn't been out of the garage yet. Calgary has a relatively dry climate so I'm not too worried about it.
