Great lesson! Thanks for paying tribute to the world's leading jazz guitarist, who is still with us today at the age of 92. I've been a Kenny Burrell fan for decades. He's one of those guys who is an inspiration to all of us. His huge recording resume on Wikipedia with the greatest names in jazz history, will never be matched again. Kenny's tunes like "Gee Baby" and "Chitlins Con Carne" and "Midnight Blue" and "Mule" and "Soul Lament" and many others are basic repertoire for learning jazz and blues, in my opinion. Add to this his masterful comping and improvisation skills and his beautiful chord melodies of the great standards.
Any guitar you pick up sounds great. Maybe the old saw is true: “It’s in the hands.” If that is the case, you’ve got some great hands. Really appreciate the very wide variety of materials you cover and the references you make (like the Freddie King one, here) A bright spot on UA-cam. Thanks.
Killin. I learned this a few years ago from Francois LeDuc’s transcrip if i recall…but when i moved on to work on other stuff i frickin forgot it…aaargh. Beautiful brother.
@@AlexFarranGuitar yeah-ive read and/or transcribed so much shit over the years but if i dont review it everyday i lose it-but hopefully bits and pieces sink in and come out elsewhere in my playing! love yours btw. glad i found your channel…i thought i was the only guitar player that knew about jimmie rivers!
You definitely had me at Wes, Alex........but now Kenny thrown in there as well?!! Your site makes me feel like a proverbial kid in a musical candy store!! Jim C.
Amazing lesson as usual man! 🎸🎵Just wondering if you could send me the voicing sheet pdf that you talk about at the end of the video. I purchased this transcription from you a while back. Thanks!
Cheers Alex, another great lesson. Kenny Burrell is the bee's knees. Love his take on "A Sleepin' Bee". I found a great instrumental guitar track on UA-cam that I think you will enjoy, give it a listen if you fancy. It is called "Sly" on the Spenser Naess channel.
I do indeed! Most weeks I’m gigging around the UK. In fact, today I’m appearing solo at the Manchester Guitar Show.. looking forward to it. I post lots of love clips over on my Instagram if you’d like to follow me on there. Thanks David 🙏🏻

Absolutely right Joe!.. Kenny should be part of every jazz and blues player’s education! 🙏🏻🍻
@@AlexFarranGuitar Thanks, Alex! He's the man. I also forgot to talk about his tone. He's like a complete study in the basics of everything.
Love it! Midnight Blue is a desert island album. Some more lessons from that album would be wonderful.
Well said! I would also add his take on "Smile" by Charlie Chaplin -- Brilliant!
