It's probably time to put one or both of those tom turkeys in freezer camp! It can be your Christmas dinner! Remember, you feed & care for them; they feed & care for you! You've given them their best life possible! Not it's time that one or both of them feed you! Good luck! Love your videos & animals! Take care!
You gonna have to separate them or let your daddy have one of them or Chad. Toms is going to fight. I had to put a light into my chicken pen to keep the coyotes pens and possums out and if you leave it on all night long, they will not mess with him.❤❤❤❤
We had 2 females that did the same thing. Just asserting dominance. Once it's settled, they'll be fine. Or put one in freezer camp and settle it. Might hang on to 1 so when Christina starts laying you can raise your own turkeys.
Well, Chad was going to get a turkey for Christmas, so...I guess we know where he can get at least one. 😮 They are probably close to EOL expectancy. Guinea usually roost in trees or on top of the sheds at night so they should be okay if left out.
When you have more than 1 tom turkey they are eventually going to fight for dominance & they can kill each other without intervention!!! They have definitely reached maturity now & need to be separated whether they like it or not!!! If one of them doesn't concede they will continue to fight!!! I know you are doing the best you know how!!! Love y'all & God Bless!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hey Kyle and Shannon, I cannot see well enough to tell what wire you used on the chicken pen, but there is 1 that WILL prevent raccoons from tearing the wire and that is small opening (1/2 or less) wire called hardware cloth. It's made strong for use to house rabbit, pigeons, etc., and stops even hawks from getting through to kill and pull out your bird or animal. Yes it cost more but pays off in protecting your birds and animals. Just a suggestion for what it's worth.
Crystal it’s not like Kyle didn’t say what was happening so….. If you are squeamish that was your queue to not watch or listen as he was talking about the fight… Animals and Birds fight and something is most likely to draw blood So next time if there is a next time you are watching just move on and skip the disdain for what you watched
I agree. Many veteran farmers, or anyone who watches nature programs (I even left a comment) knew what the eventual outcome was going to be, and they were warned that it was going to happen...it's called nature. These birds are big, so where the fighting appears not so violent to us, it was very serious to them. This has nothing to do with being squeamish. I thought it odd that these folks, who are so compassionate about their animals, would allow it to drag on. Thanks @@CrystalTwilight59
I suggest building the Turkey Toms separate abodes and get them fattened and tendered up for butchering. The abodes don't have to be too big. Just big enough to move around and stretch. It would make more peace. You can always raise more in the spring. Letting them run in large spaces makes them have tough meat.
I also agree. We just had to dispatch one of our Drake Muscovy because he was attacking the other birds and our dogs. Boys either cop a tude or work them selves out of a job. I know that I have raised meat that is now in my freezer for my family and my other animals are safe.
Spruce is so funny, always mouthing about something. 😂 And it’s so good to see little Harry back to normal. It is so adorable watching your animal family, they are all so sweet. And Herc is just a big lovable boy. Now the turkey’s on the other hand like to smack each other around and the genies cheering them on. I will say they don’t give up easy. I think you going to have to have one for Christmas dinner. You guys are so funny, love your videos.❤️❤️
It was interesting to see the guineas getting in so close to the turkeys fighting , one almost looked like it wanted to get between them several times . So sorry you lost two more guineas as well , sadly that happens . The weather has been dreary pretty much everywhere today .
The Guineas hang close to two big, fighting gobblers so that they can scoop up the fleshy head and neck pieces that fling off during the heat of battle. Turkeys that size do not quit when they are in the throws of battle. I mean, I've seen a losing turkey, just stay in the fray until such time the winning turkey pokes the eyes out and rips the underside of the losing turkey's throat clean out. Yes, it's morbid. However, other than farm raise meat birds, turkeys are wild animals and act in accordance with the laws of the wild. It's a key reason why many farmers and homesteaders do not "name" as pets' animals that they may be harvested in the future. Kyle & Shannon, you guys do you. Do not fret those who are triggered every time the wind blows. Keep on keeping on. Godspeed.

Well, it’s time to process two turkeys, Christmas is right around the corner and one can be for the freezer! Turkeys aren’t the smartest birds around. Have a good night! ♥️🙏🏻
Hi Kyle and Shannon, on the lower sides of the run put 1/2" hogwire on it just tie it on with zip ties, it is stronger than chicken wire. And will help keep predators out All my coops have the 1/2 wire on them its a little more expensive though, put it on the door too
Great video. You both make a great team together. Oh, to be that young again…lol. Love the matching shirts. Blue is really coming around letting you pet her. You can tell that your animals really love you with all the kisses you get. Sorry for the loss of your two Guinea’s. The Turkeys are big enough to show who the boss is in the pecking order. If you leave one out it may disappear before morning. You will figure out what to do with the Turkeys. Have a great week and May GOD Bless You, Kyle and Shannon.
We were getting to wonder when the guineas were gonna start placing bets 😂 and Christina was so chill ! ❤ Great teamwork as always at Shady Acres! Sorry y'all lost those other guineas though 😟
I really have to thank Spruce for giving my idea to let the new neighbors know they make too much noise! I turned Spruce up loud and made same noise they got quiet soon! 😅😂🤣 🤣
Looks to me that they’re trying to decide who’s gonna be the partner to your female turkey. The winner gets her so basically it’s dominance and king of the hill kind of thing.
Cristina is looking a little ragged like she may have had a run in with your intruder. Also, looks like Thanksgiving and/or Christmas may be ready for freezer camp.
That stinks about losing the guineas. The turkeys are likely going to continue to fight since they're both male and will be competing and it could get uglier. You might want to consider putting one of them in the other smaller coop to separate them. Keep an eye on them if they're both bloodied. You may need to put Vetricin on their wounds to prevent infection. You're exactly right Shannon. Hardware cloth is definitely something worth putting up and the sooner the better. Your best bet would be to put it right over the chicken wire. Chicken wire isn't strong enough for a lot of critters. The predator that got the guineas will likely come back now that it knows there's access. A racoon will often just reach right through the chicken wire and pull the bird and rip off the head. Given the trail of feathers I'm thinking it might have been a fox or bobcat. Fingers crossed that you won't lose any more. You two are doing a great job. Losses to predators happen. Unfortunately you're having to learn about it as well. Good luck and hang in there.
Raccoons got into our chicken yard. The raccoons took a couple of bites and left the bodies for us to find. We knew it was raccoons because we found them inside the chicken yard. It was covered top, sides with poultry wire. Raccoons ripped holes in the wire to get in. We couldn’t keep up with patching the wire. Finally we bought welded wire for the sides and top but raccoons still managed to get the last rooster. They even tried to tear the wood off the roof of the chicken house.

In fact, I get some strange stuff I'd never choose to watch in my line up. Oh wow...poor birds. So sorry you lost some birds to predators. Def. need to get a camera or two up there to monitor them. Well you still have that other bird house that you could lock up one turk in there and the other in the run. Gees why are they being turkeys? Christine doesn't look impressed. lol Love you guys~
Loved the music guys! Never a dull moment at Shady Acres right? All the goats and goatlets and Herc, cute as usual! But I love my Spruce! When you and Herc were in the shelter and Spruce was standing against the side and pushing his head backwards, priceless! Shanon you really showed you muscles tossing that old straw over the side into the tractor bucket. Watch out Kyle! We may have to check Shanon's "musk-els" against yours! Those Toms are stubborn, they walk like they are 100 yrs old.. 😂... I laughed at Guineas taking pecks at them while they could 😅...The goats are the cutest and of course Herc is a handsome fella ...God bless you guys ❤
Turkeys can get high enough to roost if it ever happens that you can't get one of them in. I feel for you guys, they're ruthless when they're fighting like that. I had to laugh at Herc slobbering all over you. We have a St. Bernard/Dutch Shepherd mix & a Mastiff, they're both big time drooled. I keep a rag on our patio table all summer long because they'll just soak you. My hubby gets the worst of it because the big dogs tend to hang on him while I get the tiny ones. I noticed the matching shackets & I love them!

You can always use a game camera to see what is going on near your birds palace
Looks like it’s time for one of the turkeys to be Sunday lunch soon!🥹🤗💖
Loved the music guys! Never a dull moment at Shady Acres right? All the goats and goatlets and Herc, cute as usual! But I love my Spruce! When you and Herc were in the shelter and Spruce was standing against the side and pushing his head backwards, priceless! Shanon you really showed you muscles tossing that old straw over the side into the tractor bucket. Watch out Kyle! We may have to check Shanon's "musk-els" against yours! Sorry about the guineas and the turk, turks! You know Kyle and Shanon, Spruce's vocabulary is really expanding and the older he gets the more he sounds like his dad (Kyle)! 😂😂😂❤
I enjoyed watching the Dallas game with y'all even though we were a couple of states apart!😂🏈 Whew! 😮😉
Stay warm and blessings!! 🙏🙏🥰
My husband and I had matching sweaters. We enjoyed wearing them. Unfortunately I lost him in 2004, so that is 1 of the things that I miss.
Those Toms are stubborn, they walk like they are 100 yrs old.. 😂... I laughed at Guineas taking pecks at them while they could 😅...The goats are the cutest and of course Herc is a handsome fella ...God bless you guys ❤
🤣Thank you for sharing ✌️💞🤟
Hurk he has me laughing love love love Meme!
So glad to that Christina stayed out of their way.The tree helped protect her. Just life on the farm.❤❤
Howdy howdy Kyle and Shanon
Turkeys can get high enough to roost if it ever happens that you can't get one of them in. I feel for you guys, they're ruthless when they're fighting like that. I had to laugh at Herc slobbering all over you. We have a St. Bernard/Dutch Shepherd mix & a Mastiff, they're both big time drooled. I keep a rag on our patio table all summer long because they'll just soak you. My hubby gets the worst of it because the big dogs tend to hang on him while I get the tiny ones. I noticed the matching shackets & I love them!
🦃 Turkey dinner awaits! ❤😊
