It's big, brash and billed as Ford's answer to the performance dual-cab ute. But, does the Ford Ranger Raptor live up to its name? Paul Maric finds out.
80, 90, 100km/h...and brace! My stomach churns as we become airborne and then crash back down to earth. We've just cleared a jump in the all-new 2019 Ford Ranger Raptor!
What you're looking at here is Ford's first ever Ford Ranger Raptor and the smaller sibling of the epic left-hand-drive-only Ford F-150 Raptor.
Exclusively revealed by CarAdvice back in 2015, the Ranger Raptor has been a passion project for the Australian T6 home room. It's here in Australia that Ford led the design and engineering work on Ranger Raptor, so the Australian DNA is well and truly embedded into every part of this vehicle.

Heated seats. Well, those should save lives in Australia.
Forbes Hutton even in the heart of winter, they’re basically unnecessary. Car companies should be specifically providing the Australian market with cooled seats.
Wait, there's no cooled seats in the Ranger Raptor? That's a shame
Charisma
Are you serious? It's fucking cold right now in Melbourne.
it's like 15 degrees here, I fucking need those heated seats for my cold ass to survive man
goose 15 degrees is no where near being cold. That’s light jumper weather.
A smart, brutal, reliable car, at the same time beautiful and comfortable, not devoid of grace. He, as well as possible, emphasizes his place in the SUV line, his status and the status of his master! There are many lovers of large American cars in Russia, but not all are willing to pay a double price for them because of crazy import and customs duties. Very happy for you , what do you have in
Good review, glad to see the Ranger version is living up to the name, at least suspension wise. Did you try out sport mode? I would hope (like my F150 Raptor) it would make a significant difference in the get-up-and-go via much more aggressive shifting patterns. The 10 speed might make up for some of the engine's lackluster performance.
Yes. We tried Sport mode and it offers more aggressive shifts but doesn’t change much when you hit full throttle.
T4nkc0mm4nd3r the VJ Ranger with the 265 was my favourite.
Love your review...new subs here! One day. I would love to have one of this when I move back home in the Philippines, lol!
Yeah... I kinda don't understand why the Ecoboost wasn't used for this. I mean they have it as an option for the mustang.
Cause the Colorado ZR2 uses a 2.8L Duramax. Ford is just sticking with the trend.
J Walker
It's ford's way of saying "V6".
why is the steering weel there? next thing you know its gonna be in the back seats.
Sale en República Dominicana is 4 cilindros or 6 cindros
Also to mention that this Ranger Raptor is also made in Thailand.
So 40 000 €extra for a bodykit, Fox shocks, weaker engine, sporty seats... Why? Who? What for?
Oh I forgot the RAPTOOOORRRRR badges, they must be at least 20k
How does this one measure up to the ZR2??
Todays trend, as the engine becomes smaller, the HOOD is getting HIGHER.
Jojo Marcelo So? Mostly for pedestrian impact reasons.
Hahahahaga
Kind of funny, the manufacturer puts a lot of money to prevent pedestrian death which drives up prices. Owner buy huge honking grille guards that look like it would be absolutely gruesome to a pedestrian , to protect their investment.
johnnyhb89 I see you're point lol, but you rarely see those.
Puff, With a lower hood, you have a better view in front of you though, reducing impact chances.
Seth McFarlands doppelgänger .
Truth!
And I was just thinking who this guy reminds me of. That's it! You're right. Thanks. Lol.
I’ve driven this truck and it’s excellent, it rides really well, on and off road, it’s plenty fast enough, and the small engine is to keep the weight and balance nearly 50/50. I went off jumps in it on the test track and it lands nearly flat. With chip mods, it’s possible to get nearly 300hp and over 600nm of torque, but that’s really not the point. The suspension is amazing, and it just floats over everything thrown at it. Because of the modified suspension, it doesn’t tow as much or carry as much as the normal Ranger, but that’s not the point of this small truck, it’s designed for fun and high speed off roading, not for towing or winning drag races. This was designed with things like the Paris to Dakar or the Baja rally in mind. On the beach, or in the dunes, or running flat out in the outback, this things is incredible.
By the way, in the Philippines, this vehicle is only $35k AUD.
U cfy
Neat, but 2.zero litres not really ringing my 75K bell..
Yuck Foutube I love you too ❤️🍻
If you live in the US you won't hafta worry about it.
Yup at least give us the 3.2l back
Yeah be better off buying a Dakota 5.2 4x4
David Anderson How about the twin turbo?
Twice the price of any of the major US trucks, we should have the Ford 150, Silverado, Tundra and RAMs as main stream offerings in Australia years ago. I admit the off road kit is pretty cool. But to say that a "Ranger Raptor runs out of puff" isn't good enough when its main competitor is the X350d
It really is a shame you guys don't have access to our trucks over there. I think they'd radically change your vehicle market, for the better.
Do you guys on the Colorado ZR2 over there? Cause, this is just copying what that is. Down to the engine. $75,000 there is $54,000 here. Which is right on with the ZR2.
$75k in Australia is close to $50k in the us
Sadly our petrol isn't anywhere near as cheap as it is in the USA. But I do love the full sized trucks. We will be getting the Chevy Silverado converted to right hand drive by HSV (General Motors) shortly, however they will be crazily priced. Between $115k - $145k AUD. That's USD $83k - $104k for a 2500HD. They're priced up there with luxury european cars and regular folk won't be able to afford them
@@andrewspringer6945 In Philippine price its 1.9M Pesos. In US Dollar that would be 38kUSD. Australian Dollar not US Dollar
If only they had the 3.5 v6 ecoboost as an option...
Or a 2x turbo set-up on the 3.2
that's into the f-150 category already... the 2.7l would be just nice... probably north american will get it
The 3.5 eb is WIDE the 2.7 would be better as has been said. Though with some mods Im sure the diesel could be alot of fun.. Rip out emissions gear, turn up the fuel, add a larger turbo for higher end and it'll be a brute.
Lima Charlie even the HO 2.3l would've been a decent engine
no the one for america will get the 2,3 petrol 4 cylinder ecoboost
I brought a raptor on the gold coast and a dual axle 5x10 trailer loaded it up and drove back to darwin, got plenty of power,I over took the road trains at 150km with ease.best car I've ever owned
Great review Paul, awesome job,
I knew that fking 2.0L would be an issue
Turbo Turtle I hate Ford because they put thar shitty engine 2.0 biturbo intead of the 3.0 V6 TDCI
Yep, wrong motor. Just wrong. What a shame.
Everyone from everywhere called the issue with a small motor. It's a shame really...
Unfortunately because of how much Thailand buys pick up trucks, you will never see a bigger motor in small pickup trucks unless the Thai government gets rid of the displacement and emissions tax.
The only reason they went with the 2.0L engine is because Ford will save over $10,000 per car in taxes because of smaller displacement. It's not Ford's fault, it's just Thailand's.
To give you an idea, the 2.5L Camry was $40,000 in 2008, whereas the 3.5L one was $100,000. The displacement, horsepower, and emissions tax was $50,000.
Matte Omg, seriously? If that’s true I’m never eating Thai again 🙄
6:40.... underpowered on the open road you say? Runs outa puff when you need the power? Every 1 new the piss weak 2L would be crap. These are $89K in NZ. No thanks
fidy8dub in America they will thankfully put in a more powerful engine thank god
fidy8dub the guy in the video probably does not know how to drive a diesel on the highway, sounds like he kick down to overtake, if he left it in top gear to overtake he would have been in the engines optimum power band, cause a diesel engine is strong in the low to mid range, anything in the high rev range they have no puff, while a petrol engine has more puff at the high rev range.
Well I chuckled a little bit when he said with all this nm and no umph when passing. That's because it has 210hp bud. That is like Kia territory.
They are solid and good build though
Bryce Bishop it’s a diesel... geared correctly 210Hp is plenty when it’s twisting 500Nm... and considering it’s mated to a 10-speed, one can’t help but consider the above comment of the driver being the error.
Great suspension and good looks, but what were they thinking with that engine. Not worth the money
You are so right. I was thinking the same thing! Put a stinking big diesel in!
They should put in the 5.0 litre v8 from the mustang
Harrison Lockyer if you want one get a Raptor F-150
Harrison Lockyer this would sound freaking great with the coyote V8
PS2Nerd one issue with that we can’t get a f150 raptor in Australia without paying shitloads of money because they need to be converted to right and drive and heaps of other changes
I have an idea. Chuck Fox 2.0 shocks in a wildtrak, with lift with 35" tyres so you can still enjoy the torque of the 3.2L ?? Ohhh wait... I already have done that.. So someone tell me what makes this wannabe Raptor great? wider flares and shocks? Thats it?!!
The Chassis is different. And a 10 speed which im hearing a lot of good things about.
That motor tho..
you can put a bodykit for a ranger to look like a ranger raptor. then. you can just use offset wheels.
Change the gear box to the 10 speed as well the 6 speed is a handgrenade. I have the Everest.
Just don't know why dual cab ute on the market today more and more expensive?? I can understand the price of 79 series as you paid for good v8 engine and strong chassis and reliability. But why all Thailand made dual cab ute can achieve 70k to 75k marks???
I agree
Yep the US is getting the 2.3 Ecoboost from the Mustang.
Beware of this engine though. Ford I have no idea how this stuff gets passed for production.
This engine has a belt driven timing belt that is sealed from access inside the engine with the crankcase oil. Its supposedly meant to last the life of the engine and I suspect that life is 10 years.
Also spinning in the oil is another belt driving the oil pump.
And lastly it has an inbuilt sealed EGR system which cannot be accessed. So if it gets blocked, which they all do, expect a head out repair. It also means you cannot fit an oil fumes catch can.
Lastly, unlike the current Ranger engines or any models engine in this class that have been detuned from factory for reliability and warranty reasons, or in the case of the 3.2 Ranger which was detuned so that future models could offer higher power with a simple retune... This 2.0l is an existing Ford engine that has been tuned up to within an inch of its life.
It has the potential to produce slightly more power and torque but inside that little engine there is a massive amount of stress and strain. Even to make its current numbers. It also needed reinforcing to keep it rigid.
Buy it, but sell it before the warranty expires. I suspect its resale value will be horrendous as soon as it's reliability or more so, built to be disposable reputation gets out.
outwestlawns are you certain that it has a belt? Looks to me that it has a chain my good mate. Also EGR valves tend to get blocked in Diesel engines, not petrol, unless the oil is never changed and the thing is totally neglected. Bear in mind, I am not defending Ford reliability as being faultless, I have fixed more of them than I care to remember, just inquiring about the examples you highlighted.
R Soul Its a 2.0 turbo diesel. Yes it has a belt, and sealed EGR.
outwestlawns ok sure, I thought you were referring to the 2.3, not this diesel, goddamn UA-cam misunderstanding! Apologies, I will shut my yap.
outwestlawns, yep.
outwestlawns built to fail
Those extra tech features that are missing won't matter to most buyers of this, just less things to break.
Now we need to wait for the 2.3l eco boost with 350hp that the USA version of our raptor is getting.
Sean Saal if I end up with one of these that motor is coming out to make way for the 3.5 eco boost
Sean Saal probly a detuned model of the engine. Down to 270 hp (yeah, big dump 80hp 90tq) but with balance shafts removed and forged guts with a higher pressure oiling system.. In other words mustang bolt ons and ecm code and id wager 450-500hp is plausible.
Either of the petrol engines would be nice, as it stands the 2l diesel doesnt suite the nature of the truck.
Might be to much to wish for the 5.0 coyote v8
Usa is getting v6 ecoboost in raptior its been confirmed in interveiw with new ford Australia CEO
We need more intros like this, where you can show some emotion and say how you feel. F##K Yeah.
what ? 2.0L ? Thank you!! whoever decide to put that small engine in that car , should just quit the job, you just fxxked up!
Australian Seth MacFarlane is that you? 👀
Lois?
he looks like him haha
My old f150 was 5.7. The raptor version was 6.2 I believe. 2l doesn't flick my monster truck switch.
Pete B ford nvr had a 5.7 just the 4.6 and 5.4 v8's
Kubeanie Gaming sorry 5.7 was another company truck! My Ford was 5.4. Neither were something I'd buy but definitely enjoyed driving. 6.2 was available though, but never tried it, only as a passenger.
Ford must have paid you for this review. My god you love kissing their asses. It's a 2 litre shit box plonked into a barge built in Thailand, yet Ford want nearly 80 grand for it... 80K get a Land cruiser, built in Japan, Bi turbo diesel V8 and has a proper truck chassis.
I have been in one and the build is very solid and strong and is made very good quality
This would be absolutely amazing if it had say 185kw+. There's a reason it feels breathless. I'm a huge Ford fan, but this is such a strange choice of engine.
Ford performance can tune it to 195KW 600NM with a 4 yr warranty.
80k for a 2.0L trash? Stop being a di*k head, and put the F150 and Explore in place. Fuel is only $1 something in AUS. Put this kind of Fuel saver Eco Nimble Jumble to New Zealand where Fuel is $2! We need V8!!!!
I think they should have at least dropped the 2.3L ecoboost in it.
Petrol? Not enough to pull a massive dual cab like this
According to Ford's website. My local dealer can supply one for 84k. 😞
garth's channel worth every penny 👍😲👍
A raptor with a poxy 2L engine? You guys need to get off the Ford band wagon, this car sucks for 80k
Why would it go to the US? They wouldn't sell any, they have way better trucks with more power their. Pull your heads out of Ford's arse!
LewyTheFlyS13 -They will sell a lot of these in the U.S. and we will get the 2.7L Eco boost hopefully in it. We won't have this diesel in the U.S.
America is getting it with the 2.3 ecoboost (mustang) engine.
80K is Australian money. I expect it will be cheaper in the U.S. No way this would go for more than the F150 raptor.
nope, this raptor is for right hand drive markets.. the ranger in the US is a redesign... if there will be a ranger raptor in the US, it will use a different chassis
ua-cam.com/video/YG3wINPPovE/v-deo.html
Did Ford of Europe forget about the 2.7 EcoBoost in the F150?
But why the small engine. ...strange choice for a Raptor.
Asian market restrictions.
With turbo no worries when you have small engine
Lol small engine thats funny
It’s midsize truck dummy not an f150
John Grytbakk u
Smaller engine, less tech.wth Ford?
It's nothing like the F-150 raptor, the real raptor is a beast!
F150 Raptor in Oz is $160k+
@@user_mac0153 what? It's 70k in US.
@@user_mac0153 God jesss.... that's alot. 70k - 80k fully loaded in the states. Depending in what state you buy it
hey man thanks for creating Family Guy, appreciate your hard work. American Dad isnt bad either. not sure about the singing career tho...
Great chassis....underwhelming engine designed to cater for the Asian market.
The end.
correct 100%.
no, not catering for asian market !!
Couldn’t have said it any better myself. Cheers mate 🍻
75k, 2L engine = Fail, where’s the V6 Ford ? Stop dicking around.
75 grand !!!!!!!!!!!! No thanks I will stick with TRD PRO
ahahahahaha, why ?
Not even in the same market. Ford FX4 is comparable to trd pro locking diff, skid plates, factory AT tires, slightly different shocks. Frankly at that level Id get a Nissan Frontier Pro4X with its 261 hp 281 lb/ft torque and the awesome 6 speed manual. Its the best mid size truck in US market till a 4 cylinder diesel Ranger with a 6spd manual comes hear
Strong Tower Lawn Care yeah, but this ranger is not worth $20.000 more US Than a TRD. NO THANKS.
Strong Tower Lawn Care BTW, I could buy a Tacoma for $35.000, put another $7000.00 in upgrades and have a truck just as capable as that raptor and save myself $13.000
Red pilled patriot. I agree I just bought a 2018 tacoma trd off road 4x4 double cab and it's awesome with locker and crawl control for $33,000
Thanks for the review , really enjoy your style of reviews
Thanks!
It's a cool truck, but they made some really questionable choices here, and this review sounds like a paid advertisement. Torque is great, but... 210 horses? For 75k of your hard-earned money? The stock 4 cyl ranger is at 280hp and still makes 310 lbft!
Here's a fun thought... buy a brand new Ranger for 35k and then sink 40k into performance mods. You could have a bona fide trophy truck for that money. WTF is Ford thinking?
Glad I bought a wildtrak now 👍
Why ? Unless your towing a lot, this is a better truck @
interior is exactly the same minus paddle shifters and keyless.. yet wildtrak has autonomous em braking and radar cruise control yet this is $17000 MORE. tell me where that 17k is.. BF all terrains and fox shocks lol
Fully beefed up suspension. You won't be able to go baja running in the Wildtrak - not without dropping that 17k in suspension, ask anyone in the US who has tried and failed.
The Ranger Raptor really doesn't offer collision and adaptive cruise? My F150 raptor has it...that's a shame
na, a lot more than that goes into this car, either way, you bought a nice truck.. I would love either !!
All your Baja shit is completely irrelevant anywhere outside the US dude
2.0 litre craptor..... Absolute joke
It's a mid size pick-up you dumbass. What did you expect?
A land cruiser has torque and horses.. as well as a V8 not a pussy 4 pot.
The Legend BR blah blah blah.... No matter what you clowns say... It will still be a pissy little 2.0 litre shit box... 😁 😆.... $75k......Comical.....
Bridgette West HERE
Can a stock Land cruiser drift, jump and rally? Does it have the same technology as a raptor?
This is a ford ranger you idiot not an F series. And who the fuck would rally a 4x4
Fairly annoyed it doesn’t have the radar cruise control that the wildtrak has. I wasn’t gonna wait and buy the my19.75 for an extra $4K just to get this, so spent 71 and got the my19
Paul, would like your thoughts on GM potentially globalising their American issue Colorado and bringing the ZR2 to Australia to combat the Raptor? Would seem to make sense to beat out on price if they are made as standard RHD.
That would be awesome! Nothing confirmed yet, but fingers crossed!
That’s the rumour ..........
That would be awesome, force Toyota to bring in the Tundra.
Sam Turner I drove a ZR2 for a little bit. Such a badass truck lol. Half the price of this Raptor to boot LOL.
If you convert the $75000 to american dollars it is right on the same price as a fully loaded ZR2.
About 85k once you drive out of the dealership. What a joke. If only they didn’t go with that 2.0lt bi turbo diesel. Waiting for the second generation vehicle because you know this will change from all the backlash ford are receiving.
Whats wrong with the 2 liter?
Id rather have an sr20det 4cyl rather than a vg30dett 6 cyl
Or better yet k series
Why cant they put a Twin Turbo V6 into this car with about 250kw? And Ford has to seriously do something about interior quality.
Colorado ZR2 > Ranger Raptor
😂😂😂😂😂
It's 2021,how come this video is 3 years old
Uderpowered & overpriced. Every Ranger I've seen in mining in WA has literally fallen apart. Their junk. Nice city car
rather a ram 1500 if in the mining sector when they are sold
Probably because they are used hard. I've pushed my F150 to the limits, as have many others, and they still go strong 200k miles later.
They're
T4nkc0mm4nd3r Every truck should last at least 200k lol. It'd be a joke if some failed to
Oozywolf Clearly you've never met a Ram owner
I meet Paul on the plane up to Darwin on Monday morning and saw all the Raptors at the Hilton Tuesday morning and to have the review already online is amazing! Guys that’s impressive and such good quality too.
Thanks, Michael! Great to meet you - we work quick at CarAdvice! Cheers, Paul M.
Will this have a 5 year warranty? Ford will go broke doing warranty claims on these!
about as broke as VW and Toyota !
Richard Williams -Why? It's built Ford tough!
Why? It’s a warranty not an insurance policy
Called, well once they were not now, an inferior piece of shit now, mates was rubbish after 6 months, in and out of dealers, now sold and buying a good truck a Ford !!
@Fev Ola are u serious.. the new hilux is rubbish mate.
I drive a standard XLS 3.2. Work in the mines it takes loads an tows what Hiluxes cant. Drives where cruisers wont. Takes on work in South Africa, Namibia and Botswana. Sand, mud and gravel. I do not think that engine or the 2.2 will be up for it.
Want one badly
This raptor is pretty crap compared to the US 2019 Raptor, i never thought i would say that i prefer a USA DC over a Aussie one.
You, of course, realise how US versions are designed for the market.. so it would be pretty unwise if Ford to bring out a similar model here and sell F-all because you have to be a very wealthy person to afford the initial cost, maintenance and running costs.. if you fall into that category, be my guest and import/convert a US 150. This is an excellent attempt at engineering an Aussie suitable version.. desirable isn’t necessarily practical; Ford had to compromise accordingly.
75k for a 2.0 liter shit box and with ford's track record and build quality I will never buy one.
I doubt you could afford one Honda fanboy
And you probably drive a Kia right...
why buy an overpriced ford ranger raptor with a 2.0L engine when i can buy a REGULAR ford ranger with a 3.2L engine? wheres the commonsense in buying that ? or even the commonsense in ford making that ?
Its not entirely overpriced in Philippines pickups are tax exempted. You can get this fully loaded at 35K USD
Cant compare this to an f150 raptor. Thanks to the 2 liter im now buying a landcruiser v8 twin turbo
Built for different purposes, cant compare them
@@Jimbolbianthere are still many trucks in this price range that will perform and last longer
@@pharaongaming8617 name 1 performance dual cab for me
Just looked up the price on Ford's website and it says From $83,984 so where the fuck is the $75,000 coming from? Would be better to buy the Wildtrak give it a lift kit with fox shocks, rock sliders and bash plate and save a metric butt ton of money!
The price we quote is exclusive of on-road costs. The rest will be crazy dealer delivery costs and stamp duty.
Thanks for your reply, I think nearly 85k is too much if it came in at 75k then alright but I don't think it's worth 85k just my opinion though as everyones got one :)
0:43 I highly doubt BFG made those tyres for just the Raptor
Most likely they are just off the shelf tyres
The fact is true. BFG made special tyres for Ranger Raptor to increase performance.
What would you know !?? Manufactures actually do !!
mixalis hiral Patel eehhh no.
The BF Goodrich T/A KO2 as fitted to the Ranger Raptor have been on sale worldwide since 2016.
The size the reviewer mentioned, 285/70R17 has been available for sale on the BFG website for a long time too.
Some tire manufacturers do make tires to fit a particular car, but those are all high performance vehicles. Not something an average person could afford to buy.
I know more than you mixalis
Bwhaaaaa, BFG K02 specially designed for the Raptor. Farking horse shit.
Grant cobb I have got BFG KO2s on my Hilux work ute, the guy that sold them to me said they were designed specifically for clapped out Toyotas.
Its too big, the suspension is too soft, even for it to be a practical offroad tourer, and its American. In other words. Its crap.
Ford sells it's overruns this engine to third world countries like the Philippines where innocent buyers are not too picky. I have a horrible 2013 Ford focus hatchback selling value is only 20% of cost. It's always breaking down from sensors to suspension and electricals and mechanicals and it's only 27,000 km. From 26k to 27k this car has broken down 6 times. The service is sucks It takes a week to schedule an inspection and takes them 2 to 3 weeks to order the parts from Thailand and another week of wainting for the installation. Their mechanics seem to do damage like breaking the handle of the seat adjuster, the shock at the rear door and recently the rear wiper motor all happening inside their shop. top it all Ford charges corkage if you purchase outside of their parts dept. charge double labor will not warranty their work because it's not OEM. even if the part is an upgrade. It's a woeful and alot of misery to own a Ford.
damn sounds awful
Damn. I actually liked that focus as a kid when we bought the Lancer Ex lol. 1.8M for the raptor is a good price. 200k lang lamang sa wild trak
They just released this for 1.8-1.9M price point today. Check their official Fb. Sure its got a small engine. But with our tax exemption policy for pickups its a value for money.
In USD its 34-35K
Interestingly the Raptor was released today in the Philippines and is about $26000.00 AUD cheaper then the Australian variant. It's about $4000.00 more expensive then the top of the line Hilux conquest which is the knock off version of the rugged hilux in Australia.
jom_ aca Dont worry John, its a FORD thing, unreliability and shit customer care.
F150 raptor please. It doesn't pull you to dealers
Wow!!! good job. I love raptor.
Ranger raptor and F-150 raptor is nunber1
Engine not punchy enough. Why am I not surprised! 2.0 Litre engine in a $75K truck. What a disappointment.
The fact that it can cruise at 110kms on our Aussie goat tracks straight from the showroom so effortlessly is very impressive!
Michael Aleksovski but it can't pass a semi trailer up a hill, its a POS
It's interesting to hear a lot of Aussie car reviews talk about autonomous emergency braking and radar cruise control. While these are available on a lot of vehicles in North America, not one single manufacturer - domestic or otherwise - installs them across the entire lineup. Just not considered must-have features here.
On the upside, really looking forward to the day Ford brings this little truck over here.
Just get a Land Cruiser.
Funny, never seen one of those out on baja runs.
Better still, i can't acquire a new fj79 with a diesel for less than one of these costs in the states. 42k and then not being able because of import laws.
What are you smoking t4nk? That's literally been winning the Baja1000 back to back since 2008 in the stock class. In fact the LC, Tacoma, Tundra, Lexus LX have all won in the stock class while the Raptor hasn't won anything until last year after the full redesign of the truck and made it past the finish like with 52 seconds to spare. In fact it was hours behind the Landcruiser.
oh, god why !!
Read comments more. You'd know why. Landcruisers have been doing this for years and actually win events. Not to mention build quality and engineering the truck's parts for a 25 year service life. They are built to last.
I drive long distance journeys twice a month over mountain ranges. I currently own the best cruiser on the road with the 2017 Ranger Wildtrack. I was sold on the Raptor until I heard there is no adaptive cruise control....Ford, you lost me. I wouldn't drive any vehicle long distances without adaptive cruise control now. it takes all agro out of driving when you come up behind some plonker that is unsure of the road and there is no where to pass....just sit back and let adaptive cruise control hook onto the car in front and let them pull you along...even though its painfully slow compared to your own ability in the Wildtrack, its still much less stressful.
Nev Is it not even an option?
cjeam The Raptor doesnt fit my requirements..Its an awesome truck, just not for me.
Hmmm nah I’ll still bet on F150 raptor its not because of the lights but that great off road engine
RD 2 yeah but Aussies don’t have that option.
kodiak7 won’t hurt to import bruv
RD 2 hurts the wallet. A lot. Got to import then convert to RHD. Some companies are already doing it. 2017 Raptor $180k (around $135k US) which is stupid money for an f150.
kodiak7 Well if you want the best you gotta have to spend a little more unless there is an easy way to have F150 raptor on aussie legally here in my place majority of the car dealers here get them on Dubai in an affordable price like really affordable with insurance
RD 2 true the big raptor has alot more power
Yup glad I bought a Real Gen 2 Raptor.....this ranger raptor is a turd.
In what way?
Great review. I wouldn’t wish this car on anyone what a load of crap.
This truck is brilliant! We are happy we have a new Ranger in USA w/ an awesome powertrain ( F150 transmission!) plus best technology /features in class. Can we pls have the Ranger Raptor too Ford Motor!!?
This car definitely gets my 75K
Its 35k USD here in Philippines xD
Drop a 5.0 coyote in it and it'll be good to go!
It's not a ka, it's a truck.
Do you guys know the name of the song at 3:41?
Shitty ford interior and build quality.. and the motor is rubbish too... the rest of the car is very nice though! Those fox shocks and disc brakes will be a welcomed addition.
Is the new Ranger Raptor based on the 2019 Ranger?
Not quite, but it’s close. They use the same underbody components, but Ford claims the platforms are slightly different.
O fk no, looks like retrofit for everything, especially headlights. I'm so sick of this raptors with bonnet scoops, LEDs and wide fenders. Please save us from this.
I hope in Thailand they offer 2.3 ECoboost engine, this thing suppose to be monster, powerful, not a monster with a kitty engine, + more option to choose Adaptive cruise control?? Sunroof ..
Somebody at the autoplant is fired. They put steering wheel on wrong side WTF? *wink*wink
Wait for 5 yrs that thing drops $10000. Not like Tacoma TRD PRO. Still Value and reliability no problem.
76k 😑it’s sucks
To make it faster dump that heavy tray ....put an alloy tray.... save 400kg.......throw out rear seats.......and spare tyre......jack tools first aid kit......another 25kg......NOW ....youll only be half a second slower than a dmax.......
Just been to Thailand, production of the 3.2litre engine has stopped 3 months ago.... no more. This is what's next, 2.0 litre bi-turbo diesel! Smells fishy, could all the talk of transmission failures be true???Could they be avoiding another $10 million ACCC fine on the all mighty ranger???Why change to a 2.0litre bi-turbo with a 10 speed, mid model???Built ford tough???75k???
So from the Australian Dollars of 75,000 you can expect the Ranger Raptor if coming to America to be maybe $53,865.00. Now the F150 Raptor is $60000-75000 USA new. So honestly the Ranger Raptor in America will be $40,000-$55,000.
Here in the Philippines, a fully loaded Ranger Raptor costs 1.898M Php, about 48k AUD or 35k USD, which is meh. IMO, this thing is not worth 75k AUD, for that price I could've just bought a brand new Ram 1500 Laramie with a 5.7 V8 HEMI
Amarok Aventure 3 DIESEL the best :)
But not for offroad sport you need to modify the front bumper like sleeky on and a offroad sport bumper
Before dissing it, try test driving it. It has more punch than a Wildtrak and drives like a dream on road and off road. To upgrade Wildtrak with a lift, shocks, re-enforced axles, upgraded rims/wheels etc etc by 3rd party would cost far more. I'm getting one after testing driving with-in 2 weeks(waiting on shipment). If you want a 6cyclinder Raptor, you can buy a converted one on carsales.com for $160k now.
5 years to develop a work ute that cant work like a work ute should. Why make it so big and bulky then throw a 2.0ltr motor in thats going to struggle to tow 2.5tonne when most people who buy something like this are going to have boats and vans that are gonna weigh alot more than that... How much do these engineers get paid again?
You don't understand the main design consideration for a Raptor. My F150 version can't haul/tow as much as a regular F150, but that's because I have a suspension that can go airborne from the factory, which can't be said for any other truck.
The motor is a poor choice, but made for Asian market restrictions, and considering the number of preorders they've already had, it isn't proving to be a real barrier for buyers.
I get what the raptor is supposed to do weve been waiting for it for a long time and with the US version as a guide and around forever everyone was expecting something similar but tweaked for our conditions. We tow alot, carry alot and go out in the bush alot sometimes your friends car breaks and guess what the raptor cant even tow it back to town big truck all show no go... Im just disappointed mate the ford ranger 3.2ltr 5cyl is the benchmark here i thought they would of done better just upgrade the suspension in the ranger and its more capable than the raptor and you get $20,000 change. Hope you get where im coming from.
Hi guys, i want to buy a used 17' Ranger T6 XLT 2.2l. It will be my daily driven car. I live in Jakarta, Indonesia which have a sadistic traffic jam everyday. I want to drive it to my office daily and sometime for off-road (i have a business outside the city). Is Ranger TOUGH enough for my needs? any advise and answers would be very appreciated. Thank you.
We recently bought a raptor and the sound system is GOOD!
It is not a Raptor to me.
The Ranger Limited and the XLT (Note: The XLT is 2-3 times cheaper than Raptor) has a 3.2L I5, the strongest medium pickup in south america, and the Raptor which should be logically stronger, has a 2.0L I4. Really Ford?
I've always wondered why the fuck Australia doesn't just get what we have here in the states. Just give those boys down under a proper F150 and the Raptor to go with it! I mean they have at least some oil resources and terrain similar to that of the American Southwest. The culture is also not that of the UK I'd say it errs closer to an inbetween the UK and the US. I'd say itd work especially considering they literally import US domestic spec pickups and convert them from LHD to RHD. Just my two cents. Cheers from Illinois!
