Tremblay's performance was on par with the best professional and most experienced veterans. I've never seen anyone this young act with such skill.
Agreed. Noah Wiseman and Victoire Thivisol were the only other two who had performances that astonished me for their ages. But Tremblay was the most remarkable child performance Ive ever seen.
They do lose the talent, as they age, to teenage self-consciousness. Look at Asa Butterfield for example. None of his performances have even come close to his performance in Boy in Striped Pyjamas.

This might sound crazy, but I'm totally best friends with this four year old kid at work (childcare). He and I instantly connected over Harry Potter and other fun things like that and being friends with him has really helped me rediscover my inner child and I'm so thankful for that. Also: this movie was incredible and I hope both Brie and Jack get Oscars for it!

Probably the most emotionally intense film I've seen this year - I can't really articulate how fantastic these two are in the movie, their chemistry together is electric. Wonderful stuff and fully deserving of all the accolades that come their way.
I absolutely love love LOVE this portrayal of their bond. It’s such a pure and beautiful relationship between the two of them.

They are both incredible. I still can't forget the first time I watched the movie. They really give off the feeling like they are related by blood. Ma and Jake are the best characters I have ever encountered in a heartwarming family genre. I have the book but have never touched it but after watching this live adaptation, it really makes me wanna read the book. She deserves that Oscar so much.

I watched this movie only knowing that Brie won an oscar for it. Didn't watch the trailer or anything. The part while they were escaping made me ill and gave me fucking anxiety because I didn't know if they were going to escape or not. Had no idea where this movie was going but was so relieved it's a "happy" ending.
Jacobs acting as well sense of humor is astounding
I thought the misunderstanding of toast to health and happiness to bread was so funny.
