Brie Larson and Jacob Tremblay on The Process of Making 'Room': TIFF

- “In ‘Room’ the brain shuts off certain awarenesses because in order to protect itself, she can’t be thinking about what is happening to her. It’s not until she’s in the safe place of home that the movie became much more difficult emotionally for me,” says the film’s star, Brie Larson.

"I didn't want to be rude" ow my heart, so sweet!
This movie is an _experience_ beyond description. The best thing I've seen in years. Such incredible performances from Brie and Jacob - *bravo!*
+Hua Mulan Yes. + stellar script + very, very good cinematographySo much in this film could have been over-stated; very little, if anything was. That's a credit to the script and the director.
@@innismor11 actors too boosted the movie
@@kashyapkatariya7692 Sure. No argument there. If the script and the direction weren't top-notch, no acting would have saved this "2-person movie in a box", no matter how spectacular.
I still can't get over how babyish/angelic Jacob's voice is! I'm gonna be so sad the day his voice breaks =S
IK this is 3 years old... but honestly same.
This day just arrived :(
@@lucasteixeira1918 where can I hear his voice now?
@@laurenkramer9227 ua-cam.com/video/C8ldoWiRO2w/v-deo.html - on this interview right here
@@lucasteixeira1918 thank you :)
I agree with Brie's comment about the 2nd half of the film being more emotionally difficult. On some sites I've seen many people complain about the 2nd half of the film. But, I thought the 2nd half was different, but equally compelling. That's when Ma & Jack have to come to terms with the real world. It's no longer fantasy. It's LIFE.
He didn't want to be rude towards Brie aaaww I can't with this adorable kid! Brie and Jacob are incredible she deserved that Oscar so much!!
Brie was 24 when she made the movie which really makes me a more big fan of her coz a performance and maturity at that age is amazing
Very matured performance indeed, nuances on par!
Filming was from November to December 2014. She was in between 24-25. She was born October 1st 1989. Really impressive indeed. Even more impressive is that Brie had played a relatively similar character so well in Short Term 12, where she only turned 23 during filming the movie.
I think an actor cannot play certain roles without having experienced certain negative aspects in life. Brie showed her best performances with these heavy dramatic roles. Probably because they are relatively close to who she is.
I'm so happy how things worked out for Brie. She was a basically unknown actress struggling for years. Within 3 years she got two perfect leading roles, won all the awards, producers got interested in her. And she went from Kong to Captain Marvel in such a short time (yes, CM is from 2019 because the process from casting to finally saying yes to preparing and training and post production etc takes a lot of time). And the rest is history. It sounds like a fairytale. ❤👏
Just saw the film. Absolutely stunning. Really hope Brie and Jacob get lots of awards!
now I want to see Jacob Tremblay audition tape--- please somebody!
+ultramarineblue Yeah, anyone have it?
I love brie and jacob's friendship
Brie Larson: the next Meryl Streep.
Amen
she's one of a kind but I do really pray she is super successful both critically and commercially and win and be nominated for tons of Oscars
Joe Smith I hope too
"Room" is one of my most favorite movies. Most of the credit goes to Brie Larson (and Jacob Tremblay). She is an incredibly good actress. I am so happy and excited that she was cast as Captain Marvel. Can't wait to see her in Avengers: Infinity War.
Joe Smith one fuckwit is enough. We don’t need two.
Possibly the best movie I have seen in years never felt so much rollercoaster of emotions while watching Room, Brie Larson etched her name as one of the greats
such a good film. cried so much.
2.21-2.35 - aw, what a polite young man!
i loved this movie. i watched it a while back and then just watched captain marvel this year and never realized they were both brie larson. but that kid is just an outstanding actor as well
So excited to see this movie
Academy Award Winner Brie Larson
Nostradamus is that you?
I almost died during the truck scene.
How come this film is not playing all over the US. It looks fantastic!!
That is what I say! It's so great and I know people all over would make it a blockbuster! Hate when great movies like this don't get the attention it deserves!
Let's hope after award season it they premier it more
+ANNIE STORMBORN it's an independent film..most indies are shown in those run down cheap movie theatres lol.
C. Katrina Storey Ya, so true. It should be shown all over but I guess you have to have a huge studio to do that. It is a shame because it is the best movie this year I believe.
It's just a matter of money really... some indies (like Juno) just became popular & they were then able to fund advertisement for it. I think Room has gotten a considerable amount of press for being an indie plus being rated R (smaller audience can watch). Pretty impressive.
The guy who plays old nick scares me even when he isn’t in character, just because what he did when he was in character 😂😬
Brie said about her role as Ma that it took her like a month or so to get out of the role because she had gotten so deep into the role. It sounds weird to us viewers.
I remember her explaining that when after preparing for that role you play a certain character for a month or so for 12 and more hours a day, you start to become the character and think like the character. She also recently said (not sure if it was her role in Room) that she learned a lot from Ma and playing such a role is both rewarding and exhausting. Because you constantly have to face these negative topics that in reality you would only touch on a surface level.
I don't envy that actor playing old Nick. Having to get into character and be a mean guy, preparing for such a role probably isn't much fun. Heath Ledger went crazy. Probably because method acting blurs the line between fiction and reality.
I myself don't "get" acting. I mean, going on a stage reciting lines, yeah, I get that. But shooting a movie, remembering lines, preparing, getting in character etc., working 14 hours a day etc, take after take, it's beyond my understanding. 😮
i wish my future kid can be like him he just a nice kid
Brie and Jacob are so cuuute :33
Yea 🥰
God i loved this kid... he is so remarkable by all means
Brie Larson is the greatest
She is great woman
My views are still same after too much of hatred and controversy towards her
It doesnt matter where or when. If i watch the reunion scene, the scene where brie and jacob are seperated and desperately looking for one another. I BAWL. its so powerful. Possibly the best 2 performances i have ever seen.
Brie Larson is a great and beautiful actress, and Jacob too
