it just dawned on me how unique it is, that they made a movie about the theme of obduction, but didn't focus on the relationship between the obducter and the obducted... the "man" is really the smallest part of this movie. There are so many movies out there that focus on men being the bad guys and women being the victims. But this one actually showed the strength, heroism and bravery of a woman expressed within this small spectrum.
I think it's also a great way to focus on the survivors or victims of crimes. Too often the media focuses on the criminal and unfortunately we remember them more than the people they hurt.
A year later and I'm still upset that Room didn't even receive a nomination for cinematography. It made Room feel so big. Just like Jack saw it as his entire world, so did the viewers.
I’m glad you said this because *SPOILERS* I watched the last scene when they went back to the room, I thought... what... no way? It was THAT small? It seemed bigger in the first scenes and I had to go back to look at those scenes!!
So true! You didn’t get a sense of how small it was until the very end. And suddenly you thought “even with things taken out in evidence, it seems so much smaller”
That movie was a game changer, by far the best movie I have seen in a very long time. I don't think I can ever forget this movie. I highly recommend watching it if you haven't seen it yet.
+Amanda Murphy I think Brie was robbed of her amazing performance in Short Term 12. It was equally as tearjerking. Its on Netflix. You should check it out!
ejoshcoron same! It is amazing how realistic her acting is. I'm surprised she wasn't 'discovered' earlier. She should've been a breakout star years earlier!
even though im not a father nor a husband.. that scene where Joy and Jack eagerly wanting to hold each other again outside the cop car scene nearly brought me to tears.. finally free from that son of a bitch..
I read Brie's story, she had a difficult childhood because of her abusive father. Childhood experience shape us gradually into what we gradually want to become. I can relate so much with her story. She is such a strong girl.
This movie absolutely hit home for me, but not from the child's experience but from the mom's experience. I was raped and got pregnant at such a young age and being someone who barely started living her life, I was stuck in my home. There was so much raw emotion seeing how trapped and lifeless she felt but not because of her baby, but the circumstances that kept her there. I can't even explain how deep this movie hit me.
Why is short term 12 being put on the back burner. They are acting as if this is her first amazing role. ugh it just sucks that it can't be as celebrated💜
COLTON money has nothing to do with it. Only a fanboy would bring up irrelevant topics to defend that when you don’t even realize its a Marvel film and its before Endgame so obviously it will make a lot. Ant man and the wasp made a lot as well. I saw the film and it’s one of the lower marvel films in my opinion, the script is mainly to blame.
He is 12 and he played in 10 movie where he was one of the principal actor exept smurf 2 and he play in a couple short film too. Also he will play in doctor sleep in 2020 and will do the voice of the fish in the remake of the little mermaid.
The part that touched me the most was her unconditional love for the child begotten from her rape. The need to protect her son was the fire that brought about their escape.
I wish there were more smart, dextrous and inquisitive woman like her in showbiz, she deserves to be reputed and globally recognised actor , her performances in Short Term 12, Room and The Glass Castle are some of the finest movie performances, can't wait for Captain Marvel
She is a remarkable human being. I finally watched Room last Friday and it was one the best movies I've ever see. Both she and Jacob Tremblay were amazing in it.
I was having second thoughts (mostly no) for watching Captain Marvel but after watching 'Room' today... I'll watch it as a tribute to this great movie and awesome performance by Brie Larson.
I came from being sheltered so much. My parents don’t want me and my sister to get hurt my dad was afraid of us getting hurt my mom took her relationship with her mom out on me and my sister. My mom depended on her mom tremendously. So she did the same thing to us. I was severely shy too growing up. In high school I was shyer then hell kept to myself. Scared and my anxiety was bad. I would walk behind my sister in the hallways b4 our next class started. To look back now at my life if u were to look at me now u wouldn’t be able to tell but, I am still quite. This movie also hit close to home for me. In the vulnerable sense. In a big world where ur the fish in a big one ur expected to be a certain way and coming from how I grew up it’s different. I’m so proud of Brie Larson for over coming her past and letting go.
This movie was incredible! It is one I have watched repeatedly, blown away by the rawness and emotion and incredible acting by both Brie Larson and Jacob Tremblay (I would put him in the same category as Dakota Fanning and Haley Joel Osmet)! It is so raw and real and connects so deeply with your heart; I can't remember a movie that touched me so deeply as this one.
The scene in the movie that they showed at 1:11 in this video made me cry because I do that every night. I press my blankets against my mouth so that my parents won't hear me sobbing. It hurts so bad to want to let out the pain, but not being able to release it because you don't have a safe space
