Hip-Hop is aging like fine wine, I'm 45, and I'm just grateful that our living legends are still finding ways to create and contribute to our art form. Much love to Pete and Common, this is starting a wave for the culture, GROWN MAN Hip-Hop Music for the soul.
The Auditorium is Hip Hop record of the year 2024 for me until this date, what an amazing record by Pete Rock & Common. But jeez the news Questlove just told about Nas & Premier, Snoop & Dre and De La Soul with Pete Rock, and Premo is INSANE YO! Looking forward to all of this 🤩😍
Amazing episode! I Would listen to Pete Rock whole day talking about production and samples. It is also dope he used stem separation, that trully is a game changer
Make sure you check out our 2016 interview with Pete. It's not on video, but it's on any major audio podcast platform. You'll love it. We have conversations with DJ Premier, Prince Paul, DJ Quik, Scarface, and Da Beatminerz (this season), too.
@@QuestloveSupreme Appreciate the response! I will check it out on Spotify, thanks. Already watched that one with Da Beatminerz now i have to find that one with Preemo!
Our generation truly loves hip hop . So glad the OGs are creating " adult hip hop " . Nas , Styles P , Black Thought , Common , Killer Mike , Rakim all have dropped solid projects . Lady Of Rage verse on DPG song Who da Hardest fire . Going see Common n Pete in Norfork, Va Sept 13 . #90sEraStillGotIt
@@erickford1624 dang you’re right fam. Totally forgot about No ID. Did he have production credits on those albums 🤔 thought they didn’t link back up until Dreamer Believer, Nobody Smiling?
@@erickford1624 yeah but to me, Com’s earlier work doesn’t fall in my “classic” category when looking at his discography. Some great material on those records don’t get me wrong and I won’t overlook that Ye is a graduate of the No ID school of production. But lyrically Com doesn’t hit his stride until Like Water.
I absolutely LOVED this Interview! Historically we are discussing A PERFECT RECORD just like Chick Corea's RTF ROMANTIC WARRIOR! EWF's That's The Way of The World!! And I know what I'm talking about!
Great episode. On the topic of Common's best albums (a list that includes Resurrection, LWFC, and Be) an honourable mention has to go to Electric Circus. Common did something risky with that record and went to places that a lot of rappers, coming off the back of their breakthrough mainstream album, would not have dared to do. It's not a perfect album but it does contain some of his best and most personal work and laid the foundation for countless others to follow. Ye, Kendrick, etc.
Great fucking job gentlemen and lady. Great interview and amazing album. I love hiphop more than a lot of things in this life. And this is one of the reasons why. 🫡 to rashid and pete.
Yo a lot of people be biggin' up,"Be" as Common's return classic, but lemme say that,"Finding Forever" which is his follow up album, was just as dope too☝🏿😁...

ComCap!!! Common stop it man. You're doing what Michael Jordan wished he can do. Huh... the older you get the better especially when we talking about Comsense.

Facts i remember when Like water for chocolate came out and i played it on repeat for 6 months…now on 2024 I’m doing the same with his new album
Thank you Ques, the FIRST take away I got from listening to The Auditorium was how the songs were sequenced on the project. ✊🏿
Thanks for the compliment. Such a great album.

The drive home from work, has been most enjoyable. Listening to The Auditorium. 🤜🏾🤛🏾
Us too...
THESE MEN ARE BLESSED TO BE STILL AROUND AND DOING WHAT THEY DO TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!
Hearing Pete spit a verse again is proof of a higher power 🙏🏽
We’re fortunate!
I always appreciate the level of nerding out with the interview questions. It’s how I do it. True aficionados. Salute as usual.

Welcome back. Please like, subscribe, and check more of the pod' catalog.
The thing i am impressed with is that hip hop is inspiring heads like me to get up and start making beats. And it is therapeutic to the soul.

TAKE YOUR FLOWERS QUEST!!! We love you!! And youre needed in this game!!!! 58:11
Common said "Pete will let you know if he doesn't like something". Young Dolph and Lil' Yachty found that out the hard way, LMAO!
Peace Common & Pete Rock. Love your work in HipHop & QLS
love right back
This is my favorite QLS episode so far
Wow, what makes you say that?
Album is a SOLID 🎤🎤🎤🎤’s. That’s a great thing!
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Com has three classic LP’s in my opinion: Like Water, Be and The Auditorium. That’s Dilla, Ye, and Pete Rock on the production. Go figure 🤷🏽♂️

GOTTA HAVE PASSION. AND EVEN IF U HAVE NO SKILLSET, AND YOU HATE ON CAT'S LIKE THIS.....DO THAT WITH PASSION.
In terms of a break that needs reclamation and reinvigoration I would suggest Mary Mary aka the less funky Dizzy.
Oh, you an OG, you pulled out Dizzy, lol. I don’t think I’ve heard anyone flip that since Lyte As A Rock…
…And Mary Mary is underrated AF…

Let the young folks look up who the Six Million Dollar Man is… LOL
Indeed as Steve Austin was that guy! Had to be in the moment to watch!
