I love Latisse. I only use 1 total drop for both eyes as opposed to 2 drops and I use my own tiny eyeliner brush and wash it each time. The brushes that come with the Latisse are huge and just waste product. 1 bottle lasts me over a year and it’s $125. That’s not bad at all. Sometimes they have promotions and you get a Smaller size bottle for free with a rebate form.
I’ve been using Latisse for about 10 weeks and I’ve definitely experienced eye redness and dark circles around the eyes. I’ve also noticed some dark hair growth under my eyes.
I had almost no lashed left, I'm 65 take a lot of meds,so I bought Latisse. price $180.00. well my lashes are double the lenth you can actually see them and I'm totally happy
Thanks for doing a lush serum video 👍👍 PS shaving your legs with hair conditioner was a great tip I will never use shaving cream or soap again my legs have never been softer thank you.😀
I used Latisse for a long time and it worked fabulously, but made wearing my Contacts extremely uncomfortable. I had very long lashes, but walked around with red, irritated eyes. That scared me so I eventually stopped it and am back to my normal lashes. I prefer not to “play around” with my eyes. I’ve been allergic to all mascaras. since I first tried them in H.S. I use a gel liner applied with a liner brush instead. I don’t worry about my eyelashes anymore.😊
A C I know! 😬 I got to the point that couldn’t even wear my contacts. It was easy for me, though. What’s the point if I had to hide them behind glasses 👓As long as there are gel liners l, I’m okay!😉😂
I tried Latisse when it first came out, and boy did it make my lashes grow. They were hitting my sunglasses’ lenses. Didn’t love the eyelid darkening effect since I’m prone to darkness around my eyes anyway. My 81 year old father in law is using the glaucoma medicine now, and we tease him that he’ll need to get his eyelashes trimmed when his barber does his eyebrows. 😄
I went through a phase where my eyelashes would “hurt” so to speak. I would go in and remove lashes trying to find the culprit until I would remove a lash that would give me some relief. That went on for a while and left me with sparse lashes. Thankfully that has since stopped and my lashes did grow back but I considered Latisse to treat the sparseness
I have used Latisse since 2006. After I used it everyday for three months to establish the fullness. Since then I have maintained thick lashes by using only three times a week. Using Latisse just a few times a week helps reduce the $$ I have to spend for refills. I am an optician and the doctor I work for has not detected any negative effects.
Agree!! Love, Love, Love Revita-lash...........my lashes are fuller and longer. I've been using this serum for a year, fingers crossed, no side effects so far.
It made my lashes really gorgeous but I had dry eyes and then I started getting eye pain and eye cysts. I never use to get them before this and the eye cysts kept showing up. I did more research and decided to stop. Now, I get eyelash lifts on occasion.
Dr Dray, you are the type of doctor I have always looked for! You explain things to us like we are intelligent and informed, other doctors should take notes! 💜💜💜
I have been using a lash serum since September 2018 (Careprost) and I have had a substantial increase in length, darkness and thickness in my lashes. I am taking a small break before starting my next bottle. I have had no adverse effects. However, I think your cautionary advice is very important.
I've been using Latisse for years with no problems. I've signed up for allergan's promotions so I get coupons for Latisse which takes the sting out of the price. I skip the expensive eye makeup removers and use plain old baby oil then do a double cleanse on my face which removes any residual baby oil.
Gladys M You are so lucky, Gladys! I’m jealous. I used it for a very long time but my eyes were constantly irritated. Glad you don’t have any issues with Latisse!
Irritant warning, DD-I do use a different serum (babe lash) but only on my brows. I’m too chicken to get any closer to my eyeballs. It works great for brows though and I haven’t had anything undesirable from it. I lost the outer third of my brows from a thyroid disorder and this is the first time I’ve had them back. Plus some. I also started minoxidil on my brows daily too in the a.m. with babe lash in the p.m. This is definitely diy and YMMV as they say. Thanks for another awesome video! 😘🙏
Thanks for the video. I would be interested in a video about keloid scars. What makes a person develop them? Anything to be done to prevent? Any procedures on the face or things to avoid, eg. microneedle, microdermabrasion, etc? Thank you
Am I the only person that feels like I was being read the FDA website warnings and statistics for this product? Docter or no Doctor I thought this was a review on personal opinion not off of information anybody could find on the FDA website.
Google User Her opinion is that she is not a fan of them. She used facts from the FDA to back up her opinions of why she doesn’t recommend Latisse/lash serums.
Interesting video. So few people talk about using Latisse. I have been using it for several years as I need to keep my lashes longer so they can hold my lash extensions, which I love. I have found you can avoid some of the irritation (as well as extending the amount in a bottle) by putting one drop only in the cap and using that one drop to sweep over both eyes, switching which one you do each night. I no longer use the applicators they provide either. Poor and inconsistent construction. I use a very thin makeup brush (I think they are intended as eyeliner brushes) instead and I am careful to clean it after use. I have not found the Latisse made my lashes thicker though, just longer. But it was noticeable.
Hi are you still using Latisse? Have you had any side effects since your last post. I'm terrified of the eye atrophy side effect. I have a bottle of bromatropost waiting to be used but I'm afraid.
@@angelinaballerina6163 I stopped using it last year but only because I now have lash extensions put in and found an alternative (XTreme Lash Amplifeye Advanced) that keeps the lashes long enough for the lash extensions. I ordered from the Xtreme lash website. I was one of those people who just rarely have side effects, but it did make me nervous using Latisse only because they don't have any research to show why some people experience side effects and others don't. My only problem was the slight brownish line along my lashes. One thing I have found with the Latisse is that it basically stops your lashes from falling out. That is how it allows them to grow so long. I never found I grew more or my lashes got thicker though. Just longer. I can't say for sure if my method was why I didn't have problems, but I can't imagine if you load up the brush with so much of it and apply that to only one eye, it's overkill. One drop can totally cover both eyes. Their brushes are not well-manufactured so I used my own liner brush. And made sure I washed and cleaned it after every use religiously.
A friend of mine revealed she’s been using rodan and fields serum for several months. Although I’m impressed with her lash results...she has considerable redness around the eyes. It’s not a good look. I’ think keep just playing with mascaras! Let us know how you feel about latest trend in lash lifting/perming and tinting.
I just commented the same thing. Used it for a long time, but it made my eyes red and irritated. I wear contacts and it became unbearable! I already suffer from dry eyes. It’s awful.
Minoxidil (rogaine) will grow hair anywhere it’s applied, and it’s safe to use. A lot of men use it to grow their beards. There is some in vitro (lab testing) results showing that it depletes collagen, however anecdotally it seems fairly mild. Just make sure you apply a small amount and just on the eyebrows. Good luck
I have a thyroid disease which makes my eyelashes sparse and fall out. Back in 2016 I decided to try Latisse and haven’t looked back! It does cause some irritation initially (for me) but now I have long, beautiful lashes and receive frequent compliments. It is costly but worth it.
Hi. Are you still using Latisse? If yes, have you had any side effects since your last post? How long have you been using it? I'm terrified of the atrophy side effect. Thanks for info.
Very informative. Gosh, I was hoping Latisse was a permanent resolution. I am still going to try it because i am very curious. BTW, micro blading is also not permanent.
I am currently trying a Latisse prescription because my eyelashes seem to be falling out more than normal, and I was assuming it was caused by aging. It's disheartening that they will grow back to beginning stages when I quit using it; after all it is very expensive in my book. Whatever the underlying reason for loss of lashes as well as eyebrow hair I hope for the best.
I have used two OTC eyelash serums with great results. I’ve had several random people comment on how long my eyelashes are. They have also helped fill in my eyebrows. Thankfully I’v not had any adverse affects.
I have been using the Clinique Take the day off balm to remove mascara and makeup as a first step in a double cleanse and find it works very well and is gentle. I notice no lashes falling off when i use it as opposed to some other things i have used in past. Maybe because it is oily and i dont need to rub hard . Mascara just melts off. Thought about Latisse but now I think not; will just try to be gentle on my lashes .
I liked latisse. I stopped using it as my concern were the long term side effects have not been studied yet. Lash envy worked although it did not cause new growth where as latisse did.
Neulash works well for lash growth but it causes tearing that I notice when I wake up the next morning. I need to use it a few times per week to keep my lashes long. It also causes my lashes to grow in at an angle or clumping together growing from the same.
I tried a drugstore eyelash serum in hopes to make them thicker. They are really long however so fine. It made them grow too long and not thicker. I'll stick to mascara. Thanks. Great info.
I actually use an eyebrow serum that seems to work very well. I see from comments below though that caster oil seems to work better - but still have to be careful with the eyes :)
Thanks! That was a really interesting subject. I fell for the castor oil remedy for eyebrows and eyelashes, nope it didn't work. But l found that a teaspoon or two of castor oil, makes for an occasional laxative, LoL 😊
sHARI, I love castor oil for my eyebrows and eyelashes, It may have not work for you but it defenitely worked for me. I hardly has brows hair and used it for 6 weeks and am happy. As for laxative I do not use castor oil, too messy lol
CO worked better for me than any lash serum. Really it just keeps my eyelashes from falling out. I cut mine with argon and apply it like eyeliner to keep it out of my eyes. 😊
I have stopped wearing mascara because its been drying out my eyelashes and I’ve noticed a lot of breakage. Is there anything you would recommend in terms of conditioning or generally helping the health of my lashes?
I don’t think my eyelashes like to nap much, but to give me grief instead always poking my eyes and it hurts especially the right eye.Thank you Dr Dray and happy Tuesday 🌼🐝
Very informative video regarding lashes, I personally would not use Latisse even if they paid me.I have two girlfriends who work for a high end dept store and they are slaves to this plus side effects you can develop. I am old fashion and use organic castor oil for my eye brows which was dense and it has work immensely for me. Eye lashes only a bit. But I am an old gal, love the castor oil.I am hook to your channel, lots of blessing to you and your mom
This was a very interesting video. I have sparse lashes which can be frustrating but I wouldn't do anything to compromise the health of my eyes. I have bouts of dry eye which can be uncomfortable so I don't use mascara often, never tried false eyelashes because I knew the glue would be irritating, and the serums, and extensions are also not for me. Hope you have a great evening.
Thank you for this video. Actually, several of the OTC lash growth serums contain a prostaglandin analog and have received warning letters from the FDA. Some are still on the market, so the reason people report success with these may be because they’re actually using something very similar to Latisse.
Hi Jess...I’d be glad to! The ingredient in question is isopropyl cloprostenate and I’ve looked at several of the lash growth serums, including some of them that received warnings, and it’s still in there. Here are a couple of sources... www.cosmeticsandtoiletries.com/regulatory/claims/120476614.html www.truthinaging.com/review/eyelash-enhancers-eyed-by-fda www.nytimes.com/2010/02/18/fashion/18SKIN03.html?_r=1
Hi Dr. Dray! Love your channel! It’s helped me so much. I was wondering if you could do a video on eyelash and eyebrow serums that are actually effective in growing longer thicker brows and lashes? I want to try some but don’t want to waste money on something totally useless
Ok, so sometimes Dr. Dray isn't correct, and this is one of those times. Not because of any other factor other than it hasn't been properly peer reviewed in a scientific setting. There are 1000s+ people who have seen actual growth and less fallout from eyebrows and eyelashes. I cut my castor oil with argon and apply it like eyeliner. Some people don't see any results. I did. I saw no effect from Latisse. I love Dr. Dray, but she can be a bit close-minded when it comes to experiential effects. She is not the be all end all, and obviously neither am I. Try it and see if it works for you 😊
Boo Friedmann castor oil helped my eyebrows and lashes a bit. In Dr. Dray’s defense, as an MD she’s trained to follow legitimate studies. My husband is an MD, and I joke with him that a study will come out, and a month later another will come out contradicting it. Due to the high risk nature of their profession, though, the professional guidelines provided need to be followed.
I read in Cosmo about a decade ago that some models apply Rogaine to overplucked or sparse eyebrows to encourage hairgrowth. I wouldn't trust Cosmo as a source of medical knowledge, but it is an interesting thought!
I use to apply Lattisse for a couple of years with beautiful results. Then one day !!!! I developed red, itchy and irritated eyes. So now I apply Nuelash from Nordstroms. Same beautiful results with NO eye problems. $95.00 a bottle and on my second bottle.
AC Armada hello, lasted 11 months. I know It’s pricy and you’ll see results in 4 weeks. I promise. Going to the Nordstrom sale today they have 2 containers for $150.00. One regular size and a mini. No regrets !!!
Unfortunately, Neulash contains Isopropyl cloprostenate, a synthetic prostaglandin analog similar to the active ingredient ingredient in Latisse. According to the FDA, Isopropyl cloprostenate is capable of changing the structure of the eye. According to the FDA, products with Isopropyl cloprostenate should only be used under the supervision of a practitioner licensed by law to administer them. wayback.archive-it.org/7993/20170111100914/http:/www.fda.gov/ICECI/EnforcementActions/WarningLetters/2011/ucm251951.htm
Latisse gave me long fluffy lashes but irritated the hell out of my eyes. Never again! By the way, is the pigmentation around the eyes a permanent side-effect?
I don't know Maureen. It seems like my lashes start to grow back when I stop using mascara, and start falling out when I start again. Doesn't seem to matter which mascara I use. It's a bummer.
Oh, so it doesn't matter what brand? That is a bummer. Have you tried any of the hypo allergenic ones? I recently bought a la roche posay one and it seems very nourishing and gentle. I'm using a lot of that brand at the moment - and Avene - as my skin is reactive for some reason and I find them so non reactive in general.
Well, I'm in Canada and we don't have a Walgreens but all of our drugstores carry the full range of Avene and La Roche Posay. I know there was a Bartell's in Seattle when I was there recently and they carried some of them but I don't know if those are all over or just in Seattle. But I just did a quick google search and a couple of others to try might be Cinique or Almay (drugstore and not expensive and considered the best on some sites). And it looks like Walgreens does carry some La Roche Posay - don't know about the mascara. Good luck :) xo
Dr Dray thank you so much for taking the time each and every day to post such educational videos. The knowledge I've gained is Priceless. I've gone back to basics and simplified my skincare routine, and my skin hasn't looked better. Absolutely LOVE the Zapzyt and Cerave! I took a skincare dotox while I was on vacation. I was experiencing some redness and irritation and concluded it was most likely my cleanser to which has menthol as an ingredient. I started using a new sunscreen by Epionce and so far I really like it. It has 10% zinc oxide, 10% homosalate, and 5% octisalate. I haven't heard you talk about the last two ingredients.......hoping these are good ones?? Thank you again, from the bottom of my heart!! :)
Jane M. I've been using castor oil on my eyelashes and eyebrows for the past 2ish months. I've noticed that my eyebrows are thicker/darker, but I've also haven't been plucking them (but the areas that I dont touch is slightly darker/thicker). I feel like my eyelashes are slightly longer, but it can be a placebo effect... it doesn't irritate my eyes other than if the oil goes on my eyeballs and my visio. goes blurry. I'm really acne prone as well and haven't broken out from it. In usi g the Shea Moisture Jamaican castor oil. I got it at target for like $6
I’ve been using castor oil on my lashes for about 6 months and I have seen an amazing difference. My lashes are longer and thicker. It took a couple of months to really see the difference so you must be patient. I use a disposable mascara wand and brush on sparingly. I wear lens and have had problems with any oil in getting into my eyes but I have had no problems so far.
What's the difference between bimatropost and mdn (methylamido dihydro noralfaprostal)? Some brands use mdn and claims that it doesn't give the side effects of bimatropost although it is a bimatropost derivative
Hi Dr. Dray I bought a new sunscreen and later noticed it was for the body. Can it be used for the face also? These are the ingredients (fragrance free): acqua, ethylhexyl methoxychinnamate, octocrylene, glycerin, bis- ethylhexyl methoxyphenyl triazine, disodium phenyl dibenzimidazole tetrasulfonate, styrene/acrylates copolymer, ethylhexyl salicylate, dicaprylyl carbonate, cocoglycerides, diethylamino hydroxybenzoil hexylbenzoate, methylene bis-benzotriazolyl tetramethylbutylphenol (nano), titanium dioxide, polyglyceryl-2 dipolyhydroxystearate, panthenol, tocopherol, acrylates copolymer, lauryl glucoside, decyl glucoside, silica, magnesium aluminum silicate, dimethicone, magnesium ascorbyl, phosphate, sodium hydroxide, 1,2- hexanediol, xanathan gum, caprylyl glycol, propylene glycol, disodium EDTA, tropolone, BHT. Hope you can help!!
Hi Andrea, I'm glad you did a video on this. Speaking anecdotally, of course, I have had very good results from using castor oil every night. I dip a clean mascara wand into the bottle and scrape off the excess (it's quite goopy), then apply a very small amount. Longer fuller lashes within a few days. Are there risks with using it? I'd be interested to know!
She said in a more recent video castor oil does not grow lashes but coats them so they appear fuller. The oil also moisturizes and conditions the hair. She also said it can cause irritation, rubbing eyes, dry eyes, etc.
Is the risk of having the iris “stained” by the Latisse high? I have light blue eyes and am worried about this risk. Would like to know if it’s common or rare. I also read that some patients put it into their mascara. Is this safe?
I am a guy and I am also using it for 6 years now. In the beginning I got dark eye circles (to which I tend genetically), but after I could tolerate them perfectly. After 6 Monath I only use it 2 times a week.
I swear I can search any topic at Dr. Dray channel and I can find it immediately.. this is why I respect her and love her so much she covers so many topics .. thank you for all the work you put into this channel 💖
What is the reason for not using micellar water in removing eye make-up? I love it, it takes off my eyeliner and mascara right away. I am using La Roshe Posay micellar water for sensitive skin
Iam a big fan from Egypt can you imagine how good are you to your knowledge reach Egypt 😁 thank you for your effort, love your skincare for breastfeeding moms which Ian one of them, please do an episode about hair care vitamins and hair care for breastfeeding moms, anti aging products for breastfeeding moms also.
I’ve never been tempted by Latisse, as I’ve seen some you tubers have problems with irritated eyes. I’ve tried castor oil but never noticed a difference. Other than a film of oil over my eyes, lol. Enjoyed the video!
the castor oil thing is popular but no data to support its use for hair/lash growth and is a very common cause of allergic and irritant contact dermatitis
Not only do I learn something helpful from your daily videos, your responses to the individual questions from your followers are always informative!!Thank you Dr. Dray.
Yeah, I can't use salicylic acid (BHA) because a while back my dermatologist told me it makes vitaligo worse. So I'd like to know what I can use in place of that.... A substitute with the same benefits as salicylic acid.
My lashes are so short I've tried latisse. Saw great results but couldn't commit to spend so much $ every couple months. I was thinking about getting extensions. Glad I saw this video.
Hi Nancy, Yes, it does! Rapid Lash has the same ingredient Bimatoprost that's in Latisse. It really works well and takes about 6 weeks every night to see growth, just like it does with Latisse. A lot cheaper too!
Initially Latisse worked really well but then it stopped working. Is that normal? Should I stop using it for a few months and give my lashes a break? Then pick in back up agin?
Hello Dr Dray, enjoyed and learned from your video today, as always. I am sure to tune in around 9 am here everyday for your content. My question is, wouldn't BIOTIN help in some way to eyelash health/growth?
I have glaucoma and use Lumigan drops in my eyes every night. I have been using this for a year. My eyelashes are longer but not thicker. I know somebody who uses Rodan and Fields and her lashes are much longer and thicker than mine. I guess there is only so much Lumigan can do.
Mimi Rodan and Fields is actually bad for your eyes. There is a lawsuit against them. Just mlm people will push this product without thinking in the damage. Stay away!
Swan Queen Hi, thank you for the information. The eye drops I am prescribed are called Lumigan which is basically Latisse. Lumigan has the same side effects that you mention. Apparently Rodan and Fields has the active medicinal ingredient that is in Lattisse and Lumigan. I though that was made illegal several years ago. These drugs are prescription medicines and Rodan and Fields are just to be a cosmetic, that doesn’t have to follow the same regulations, as a drug. My doctor had to tell me the side effects of this medicine, because of the law. The girl I know who sells R and F has eyelashes much thicker and longer than mine. Maybe, heredity. This is very interesting. It sounds like R and F eyelash solution is a drug, just like I use. This is confusing! I thought prostaglandin requires a prescription. Rodan and Fields must have gotten around it somehow. I bet they have to take prostaglandin out of their cosmetic.
As a slight change-of-subject vlog, I wonder if you might do a video to address why a random patch of skin might itch incessantly for seemingly no reason. I've had this on my chest, arm, waist, etc. Don't know why and don't know what a doctor would be able to advise, other than to use Cortisone cream. Cortisone cream usually takes it right away, but not always, and sometimes it will come back in a few months. Are there other cures? Is it from unknown allergies? Is there a way to find the cause? I know it's not from anything external, such as make-up, because of the locations.
Simply Keri Same. Happened after years of tolerating regular detergents and softeners. Now I use products that are 100% free of fragrances and dyes. Helped my super-allergic fur-baby, Chino, too! He sleeps with me but has his own blankets.
Gina, I suffered for many years too, and consulted many dermatologists. Finally, I went to an Allergist/Dermatologist. She was the first to ask "what type of detergent do you use?" She also advised against certain aerosol bathroom/house cleaners. As Dr. Dray says, the possibilities are endless! Glad you and Chino found relief. My "sprotten" fur children share the bed with me too. :-)
Simply Keri Hey, Keri! That must’ve been so frustrating! (Yep! I rescue pit bulls and pit mixes and bait dogs, as well. They’ve all been my fur babies and slept with me!). ;-) You’d think these Dermatologists would’ve at least considered it. I figured it out by myself, even though it happened almost overnight. I was starting to get itchy all over and had tiny rash bumps from my face to my toes and Chino was constantly scratching and had bigger ugly rashes. Mom was still alive then and using really fragranced detergents and fabric conditioners. Same for the apartment and house cleaning products! If it didn’t smell like a huge bouquet of flowers it wasn’t clean enough for Mom! But I didn’t have the same issues after wearing my dry cleaned items. I went out and bought all fragrance free products for cleaning home and bedding, clothes etc., and it changed everything for Chino and for me! I’d read an article about this about two months previously! Trust me...I’m no genius! Mom wasn’t happy but she noticed the difference in me and in Chino. No more rashes, itching or constant sneezing! I’ve never actually “met” anyone else with these issues! Welcome to the Club! :-)) XX Gina :-)
Although I've learned to accept my short sparse lashes, this is still a great informative video nonetheless. Just looking forward to watch your video everyday and picking up new knowledge along the way. 💗
@@amyjacquelineg.9541 Thanks for the makeup tips! I do apply gel eyeliner along my lashline. It really helps but sometimes I skipped when I'm super lazy. Lol.
I am one to get sucked into the marketing of these products. As someone with sensitivities to a lot of things, my skin and my wallet thank you! I would love to see a video on scalp health (especially in hard water areas) and skin/body ph. Oh, and this might seem strange- you mentioned that many people don't apply sunscreen enough or correctly- so a demo actually applying. :)
DR. Dray thank you for all of your amazing videos. I have a question regarding Bimatoprost the generic brand for Latisse. Will I get the same results? What is the difference between the two in ingredients and performance for lash growth?
Eyelashes return to their regular growth cycle after you stop using the eyelash growth serum that basically tricks them into growing longer and not falling out.
A Dutch company called Kruidvat was in the news recently because their eyelash serum contained bimatoprost. Studies showed this ingredient may cause eye colour change. Does the Latisse serum have the same ingredient?
Knesje, was it in the news in The Netherlands or in Belgium? Because KV store is in both these countries. I'm in Belgium and I didn't see this in the news!
It is true! It personally happened to me. It wasn’t Latisse but it was a product that had prostaglandin in it. It did makes my lashes long but man do I regret using it. My eyes were grey/blue before using it. Now they are more of a darker green with some brown pigment. I used it as directed. If you have light eyes, don’t risk it. I regret it daily....
In the original commercials here in the US they mentioned that there was a very slight chance it could change your eye color if you had light eyes. I remember clearly because I have brown eyes and remember thinking that I didn’t have to worry about that.
bnb0510 That must be so very hard to deal with! I’m deeply sorry this happened to you. Commercials in the US mentioned this side effect...both on TV and Magazine ads, but having brown eyes I didn’t worry. I stopped it because it really irritated my eyes and I had the long lashes but red, irritated eyes! And I wore contacts. It became unbearable.
This is perfect timing as I've just discovered you and have been poring over your videos. I've used lilash in the past and although it irritates my eyes initially it's worth the results. Thanks for sharing some well researched info!!
Hello dr dray, I would love a review or a video on gel moisturizers, the one I’m intrigued about is the new Clinique dramatically different Hydrating jelly, thank you dr. Really love your videos
Is EPM Enzyme, Benzalkonium Chloride, Disodium Phosphate, or Sodium Chloride a prostaglandin? I'm looking a great results from Liason Serum and they said their product does not contain prostaglandins. But thought it would be a good idea to double check?
Latisse made my lashes look beautiful. However, the extremely bad dark circles around the eyes and constant bloodshot eyes made me look like a severe drug addict. Not worth it. Aged me 15 years. Also caused some mild irritation of the lash line.
Next time use a good Rx coupon. I got mine for $31 at CVS and was quoted $133 at checkout
How long before you saw results?
Ooo! On amazon pharmacy if you have prime membership you can get it for $33
I’ve been using Latisse for about 10 weeks and I’ve definitely experienced eye redness and dark circles around the eyes. I’ve also noticed some dark hair growth under my eyes.
I had almost no lashed left, I'm 65 take a lot of meds,so I bought Latisse. price $180.00. well my lashes are double the lenth you can actually see them and I'm totally happy
Thanks for doing a lush serum video 👍👍 PS shaving your legs with hair conditioner was a great tip I will never use shaving cream or soap again my legs have never been softer thank you.😀
budget friendly too
I like the feel of conditioner as well but it certainly makes for a very slippery shower floor!
I've always used conditioner to shave and I didn't even know it was a good thing lol
I also find that a good way to use up facial cleansers I didn’t like for my face is to use them for shaving
Michelle M I discovered that 20 years ago when I was a kid out of curiosity and it works great
I used Latisse for a long time and it worked fabulously, but made wearing my Contacts extremely uncomfortable. I had very long lashes, but walked around with red, irritated eyes. That scared me so I eventually stopped it and am back to my normal lashes. I prefer not to “play around” with my eyes. I’ve been allergic to all mascaras. since I first tried them in H.S. it can be very irritating
Dr Dray Indeed! Dr Dray...it became unbearable.
Gina La Perugina NYC same! It was not worth but it was hard quitting it after seeing what it did for my lashes after a year.
A C I know! 😬 I got to the point that couldn’t even wear my contacts. It was easy for me, though. What’s the point if I had to hide them behind glasses 👓As long as there are gel liners l, I’m okay!😉😂
How long did it take for the irritation and red eyes to go away ?
thank you so much for this! 5 days in, bimataprost caused darkening of my eyelids.....not a good look...EVERYONE SHOULD BE CAREFUL WITH THIS!
did the darkening go away?
I have been using Revita-Lash for about two years now I ca'nt believe how much my lashes have grown. XO
Agree!! Love, Love, Love Revita-lash...........my lashes are fuller and longer. I've been using this serum for a year, fingers crossed, no side effects so far.
Karen Walling is that over the counter?
Costco sells it online.. 2 tubes for a discounted price!
Oops.. sorry..I meant to type RapidLash.. 2 tubes for $50. Works for me.. and if it didn't I would have returned it no problem.
It made my lashes really gorgeous but I had dry eyes and then I started getting eye pain and eye cysts. I never use to get them before this and the eye cysts kept showing up. I did more research and decided to stop. Now, I get eyelash lifts on occasion.
Did the eye cysts go away on their own?
Dr Dray, you are the type of doctor I have always looked for! You explain things to us like we are intelligent and informed, other doctors should take notes! 💜💜💜
Gosh, I love your videos. It’s like you’re reading my mind with the content you put out. Thank you for taking the time to educate us all. XO
I have been using a lash serum since September 2018 (Careprost) and I have had a substantial increase in length, darkness and thickness in my lashes. I am taking a small break before starting my next bottle. I have had no adverse effects. However, I think your cautionary advice is very important.
Janice Duerr where did you buy it?
Janice Duerr Careprost isn’t a lash serum. It’s the brand name of glaucoma drops made in India.
I also use Careprost. It’s the same active ingredient as Latisse, which is bimatoprost. I get it for $35 for 3 ml. Lasts at least 6 months.
Hi Gladys, did you sign up online?
Reliable Rx .com has the generic for $16
Irritant warning, DD-I do use a different serum (babe lash) but only on my brows.
Me too! I have one in the center of my chest 4" below my collar bone so it shows often.
Google User Her opinion is that she is not a fan of them. She used facts from the FDA to back up her opinions of why she doesn’t recommend Latisse/lash serums.
I had a raised scar and I used Trentinoin cream on it and it smoothed out.
Thanks for all the helpful information. Glad I listened to you prior to using Latisse. I decided the risks out weigh the benefit for me.
Could you please do a full video on vitiligo? I was diagnosed with that a couple years ago :( Any information would be much appreciated 💓
My mum has this. It's tough. Stay strong 💙
Anti aging routine for vitiligo patients and at what point we should use our prescription ointments please!
Although I’m not interested in ever using lash serum this was very interesting indeed! Thanks for the info Happy Tuesday
Thanks Ms Julie :)
@@DrDrayzday Hello, What about using Latisse for the eyebrows?
I cannot live without my latisse! Makes my eyebrows grow too! I had 2mm of lashes before latissse, now they look like I’ve had extensions! 🤓
what product do you use? :)
S R it’s in the comment
@@sweetestsna1 Latisse is the name
Hi have you had any side effects since you last posted? How often do you use it now to maintain the lashes? Thanks for information
Mascara can also affect the length, health and cause eyelashes to fall out
Hi! I have used Latisse for eyelash growth but it made my eyes dry and burn. But it did make the lashes long and dark!
it can be pretty irritating after awhile
I just commented the same thing. Used it for a long time, but it made my eyes red and irritated. I wear contacts and it became unbearable! I already suffer from dry eyes. It’s awful.
Thanks for this video Dr Dray. 🙂 Now waiting for eyebrows video.
I already have dark circles and dark brown eyes...getting it!
Unfortunately I had to start using glaucoma drops 2 weeks ago :(
My eyelashes are growing and seem thicker already.
The glaucoma drops helped?
@@_._lllee latisse is a glaucoma medication
Do you know what the name is?
I have been using the Clinique Take the day off balm to remove mascara and makeup as a first step in a double cleanse and find it works very well and is gentle. I notice no lashes falling off when i use it as opposed to some other things i have used in past. Maybe because it is oily and i dont need to rub hard . Mascara just melts off.
Thought about Latisse but now I think not; will just try to be gentle on my lashes .
I liked latisse. I stopped using it as my concern were the long term side effects have not been studied yet. Lash envy worked although it did not cause new growth where as latisse did.
Very informative. Don't waste your money after hearing this.
Oh the irony of an ad for body shop tea tree products before you came on
Neulash works well for lash growth but it causes tearing that I notice when I wake up the next morning.
:)
sHARI, I love castor oil for my eyebrows and eyelashes, It may have not work for you but it defenitely worked for me. I hardly has brows hair and used it for 6 weeks and am happy. As for laxative I do not use castor oil, too messy lol
Castor oil just gave me greasy eyeballs 👀
Grace Kelly Lol 😀
CO worked better for me than any lash serum. Really it just keeps my eyelashes from falling out. I cut mine with argon and apply it like eyeliner to keep it out of my eyes. 😊
I have stopped wearing mascara because its been drying out my eyelashes and I’ve noticed a lot of breakage. Is there anything you would recommend in terms of conditioning or generally helping the health of my lashes?
What are good mascaras that actually are GOOD for your lashes and maybe help them stay soft and healthy?
I don’t think my eyelashes like to nap much, but to give me grief instead always poking my eyes and it hurts especially the right eye.Thank you Dr Dray and happy Tuesday 🌼🐝
:)
:)
Happy Tuesday!
Thank you for this video. Actually, several of the OTC lash growth serums contain a prostaglandin analog and have received warning letters from the FDA. Some are still on the market, so the reason people report success with these may be because they’re actually using something very similar to Latisse.
Dr. Julien Arbor Can you give a source, please?
Hi Jess...I’d be glad to! The ingredient in question is isopropyl cloprostenate and I’ve looked at several of the lash growth serums, including some of them that received warnings, and it’s still in there.
Here are a couple of sources...

Hi Dr. Dray! Love your channel! It’s helped me so much. I was wondering if you could do a video on eyelash and eyebrow serums that are actually effective in growing longer thicker brows and lashes? I want to try some but don’t want to waste money on something totally useless
You should do a video about eyebrows with castor oil/any other ways to grow your eye brows
they video would go like this: stop with the castor oil
Dr Dray 😂😂
Carol Chadwick how long does one bottle last?
AC Armada hello, lasted 11 months. I know It’s pricy and you’ll see results in 4 weeks. I promise. Going to the Nordstrom sale today they have 2 containers for $150.00. One regular size and a mini. No regrets !!!
Carol Chadwick wow, lasts almost a year!? That’s awesome! Thanks for the tip!
I also use this, and it is incredible
I use Careprost which is the generic version. I love it. I use it on my eyelash and eyebrows.
Does your eyashes fall out when you stop using it?
I always wondered about this and now I know so grateful.
:)
Lilash and Babelash are the best eyelash growth serums out there.
I am so interested in this. I loved hearing your thoughts on serums. I think I lost some of my eyelashes because of my mascara.
Which mascara was rhat Marla?
I don't know Maureen. It seems like my lashes start to grow back when I stop using mascara, and start falling out when I start again. Doesn't seem to matter which mascara I use. It's a bummer.
Oh, so it doesn't matter what brand? That is a bummer. Have you tried any of the hypo allergenic ones? I recently bought a la roche posay one and it seems very nourishing and gentle. I'm using a lot of that brand at the moment - and Avene - as my skin is reactive for some reason and I find them so non reactive in general.
I may have to try that. I have never tried a non-hypoallergenic one. Where did you buy the one from La Roche Posay? Do they sell in Walgreens?
i have...they are uvb filters and zinc is a physical uv blocker of uva and uvb
I have use castor oil for years my eyelashes, and they have grown beautifully strong, what are you thoughts on castor oil?

Does castor oil help your eyelashes? Is it safe to use on your eyelashes? Thank you for this informative video.
I wear lens and have had problems with any oil in getting into my eyes but I have had no problems so far.
no, and despite its popularity I dont recommend as there are many cases of problems w/ castor oil
Dr Dray Wouldn’t it clogged the lash follicles?
I'm so glad that you addressed the lash serums! That's so much!
how do you apply it to your eyebrows? just one drop of 0.3 percent? then spread it all over your brows?
Is the risk of having the iris “stained” by the Latisse high? I have light blue eyes and am worried about this risk. Would like to know if it’s common or rare. I also read that some patients put it into their mascara. Is this safe?
I am a guy and I am also using it for 6 years now. In the beginning I got dark eye circles (to which I tend genetically), but after I could tolerate them perfectly. After 6 Monath I only use it 2 times a week.
did your dark circles go away over time?
I swear I can search any topic at Dr. Dray channel and I can find it immediately.. this is why I respect her and love her so much she covers so many topics .. thank you for all the work you put into this channel 💖

Dr Dray thanks so much for this video and answering my question in this comment! I Was considering castor oil but I have sensitive eyes. Xo
I also didn't realize it was an allergen! The oil gets in my eyes and then my vision is blurry, so I don't care to use it.

My lashes are so short I've tried latisse. Saw great results but couldn't commit to spend so much $ every couple months. I was thinking about getting extensions. Glad I saw this video.
Jeniffer Navarro try Rapid Lash! It works and you can get it at Bed Bath & Beyond with the 20% coupon. Cost around $38 after discount
Reenee28 does it have the same ingredient as Larisse?
Latisse*
Hi Nancy, Yes, it does! Rapid Lash has the same ingredient Bimatoprost that's in Latisse. It really works well and takes about 6 weeks every night to see growth, just like it does with Latisse. A lot cheaper too!
Initially Latisse worked really well but then it stopped working. Is that normal? Should I stop using it for a few months and give my lashes a break? Then pick in back up agin?
Hello Dr Dray, enjoyed and learned from your video today, as always. I am sure to tune in around 9 am here everyday for your content. My question is, wouldn't BIOTIN help in some way to eyelash health/growth?
no

Dr. Dray - what do you think of eyelash "lifts" (eyelash perm and tinting)? This is very popular in the mainstream and wonder how safe it is.
not good for lash health
What I found helpful was to switch to a free & clear laundry detergent (no fragrance or dyes). Good luck to you - I know it's frustrating!
the list of possiblities is endless...dont self treat, seek evaluation and management
They’ve all been my fur babies and slept with me!). ;-)
You’d think these Dermatologists would’ve at least considered it.

Hi Dr. Dray! Do you recommend using Aloe Vera Gel? A lot of people are using it nowadays
Was this video done in your old apt seems like?
I'm using lash Md. It's about 65 a tube but it's non irritating and works but not as good as latisse. I like the non irritating effects.
can you say more on why you don't recommend micellar water?
Whats your opinion on eyelash extensions?
Are you talking about mineral oil & castor oil from the laxative aisle or a certain brand? I need help!!!
How do the lashes go back to normal after growing and getting thicker? I love your very informative videos!
Eyelashes return to their regular growth cycle after you stop using the eyelash growth serum that basically tricks them into growing longer and not falling out.
latisse just puts each lash follicle in growing phase of the hair cycle and keeps it there longer...nothing can "make more follicles" however
I have a question, with this make only the skin around the eye darker or all the skin on the face in general?
@Marleen G. Yes, it was in The Netherlands. See: www.nu.nl/overig/5292536/nucheckt-kan-wimperserum-ervoor-zorgen-ogen-van-kleur-veranderen.html
Hi. You're full of knowledge and I really trust your opinion. What do you think about facial exercises?
there was a recent, albeit tiny study, that should modest improvement in wrinkles
Hello dr dray, I would love a review or a video on gel moisturizers, the one I’m intrigued about is the new Clinique dramatically different Hydrating jelly, thank you dr. Really love your videos
Is EPM Enzyme, Benzalkonium Chloride, Disodium
Phosphate, or Sodium Chloride a prostaglandin? I'm looking a great results from Liason Serum and they said their product does not contain prostaglandins. But thought it would be a good idea to double check?
Dr. Dray, thanks for this video. Another matter is eye lash perming. What is your opinion about this?
bad idea...fries them
Latisse made my lashes look beautiful. However, the extremely bad dark circles around the eyes and constant bloodshot eyes made me look like a severe drug addict. Not worth it. Aged me 15 years. Also caused some mild irritation of the lash line.
