Sad to hear Michael Arstein is not really raw anymore, I think he inspired a lot of people at the time (including me)...
Anyway great video, most sound advice, I feel exactly like you, I have no margin for cooked food or salt... Thank you for sharing !

An insightful & interesting talk. Thank you.
From my experience, there are 2 types of raw vegan/raw diet/etc.
The first type are interested in things like improving athletic/sports/being healthy/feeling younger/looking younger/feeling vibrant/etc.
The second type are interested in our species specific diet.
They are interested in letting go of what they think, and embracing nature, surrendering to nature.
In a sense, becoming a part of nature.
    A deep thing.
I feel it is only a matter of time until the first type has some sort of thought process where they think it is ok to have a little bit of cooked food, salt, etc.
The reason they do this, is because they are still identified with what they think and believe. They still listen to their own minds.
In terms of inner development, this perception is adolescent.
Nothing wrong with being adolescent, it is a phase in personal development.
The second type still has thoughts about consuming cooked food, but that is all they are, thoughts.
They perceive the thoughts as adolescent, something that they now have grown out of, because they understand the consequences of acting on those thoughts.
They also understand how the species specific diet has transformed their lives, which gives a person a sense that they are a part of nature.
This is not faith, not a belief system, but real personal direct experience. It cant be faked.
Becoming established on our species specific diet is a simple concept, and beautiful profound experience.
Any person can have this experience, if they are willing to let go of what they think and believe.
But, to be able to let go of what we think and believe can take a long time, and practice is essential.
Once we understand that it is our own thoughts and beliefs that are holding us back, then the journey truly starts.

I think your impressions are so valid. I love your reflections about all of these issues. Would you consider making a video about how fear holds us back. For instance...fear is a huge obstacle for me. I am elderly. Im high raw...but eat cooked simple things. I am very thin and have osteoporosis. I am constantly told to eat meat...which i wont do...but i am afraid to eat only raw because i cannot digest fatty nuts and avocados ( which i dont like that much and they clogged my arteries) and im afraid of losing more weight and bone. I have little ripe fruit available in winter...but yes there are some fruits i can and do eat. I dont think im addicted to potatoes...im not sure though...i dont put anything on them like addictive salt or buttter. I don't know if my fear has a basis or not. Could i maintain muscle as an elderly person...could i maintain bone...i dont know of any older person who has gone all raw and succeeded...id love some interviews if there are any. Id love to know your ideas. Thanks, Ronnie.

there is lots of raw vegan elderly actually you just need to search. Annete Larkins for example. Doug Graham is about 70. Tom Avery is 71 "fruit n sport". many people prescribe fancy raw vegan meals and diets, I say keep it simple- eat whole fresh ripe raw fruits!
fear is facing everything and rising! fear is the darkness that brings us into the light... it doesn't need to hold us back, once we recognise what its telling you. therefore addressing the issues brings us into clarity and creativity. emotions don't go away, we can just understand and balance them
lets explore what causes muscle loss in aging and how to maintain weight? perhaps when people are less active, also they don't eat as muhc, affecting function of the endocrine system. to add on weight you can try lifting weights and resistance training. visualizing yourself strong and healthy also can help transform your body-mind.
fruits and tender greens support healthy bones because they have structured water and minerals. in TCM they say kidneys have the emotion of fear when weak but also will power when strong. the kidneys nourish the bones because they filter the blood that builds bone. the colour is dark blue, so eating blueberries and dark grapes, plums...
keeping the body warm is an essential part of being raw in cold places. we're tropical animals so ideal temperature is important. find some exercise that can build heat such as qigong/yoga, and wear suitable clothes for the weather.
meditation and chanting om can also build heat as it relaxes the blood vessels, circulating energy. interestingly the 7 chakras represent the 7 glands.
      you can do it!

@@annelewis7435 thanks...but im eating the McDougall diet. I'm wondering if the raw diet would help bec the McDougall diet causes many digestive problems for me. the raw diet is a polar opposite from McDougall.

Ok I understand now -what digestive issues did you have? I use my morning coffee and take magnesium to poop and my daughter deals with constipation - I eat mostly green veggies and would love to not need these things to poop -does raw help ?

Oh man this video is about me. My first year of raw was relatively easy. My second year has been hard because I opened up the door to "healthy" cooked food which immediately led to unhealthy cooked food. it's so hard to shut the door once you open it! because you think, um, I'll shut it tomorrow.
