I agree completely, @Bears. I NEVER watch WNBA--I just don't--zero interest in it. To be truthful, I have zero use for NBA as well.) Until last year, I NEVER watched women's college basketball either--I saw EVERY Iowa game this year. Why? Caitlin Clark, of course. So, while they very clearly don't care, they forfeited MY eyeballs, MY caring, MY talking about them. C'est la vie.
No body is. Nobody watched last time, but they keep sending the same team instead of sending new stars people want to watch. Just stupidity at this point
Yet one of the excuses was that Caitlin didn't attend training camp. It's laughable. The joke is on the old guard. Higher quality D1 players are coming into the league each year so hopefully they'll be higher class than Angel Reese.
I don't watch basketball, too many commercials. But I got a subscription to Amazon just to watch Cailin, she is remarkable and well deserving of all the praise she gets. The jealousy that is keeping her off the Olympic team is the same jealousy that is likely going to get her injured. All of those sell out crowds, all of those lost endorsements will disappear into thin air. What's even worse is the impact on future players. When girls see the dangers of being a standout player in the wnba the lousy salaries they get won't be enough to persuade them to give up lucrative jobs in the private sector (they are all college grads after all). The WNBA will fade into oblivion similar to women's football, even lack of uniforms couldn't save it.
It’s a shame that grown adults are so petty and immature and jealous that they can’t see what this young lady is doing for the league. They need to enjoy ride and grow up. I will not watch the women’s basketball team in the Olympics. Sad sad sad.
Besides being the first WNBA player to 200 points and 75 assists, here’s how CC stacks up against Diana Taurasi, who is on the US team, and the rest of the WNBA players in overall ranking this season. Total points scored CC - 14 DT - 15 3pt made CC - 4 DT - 4 assists CC - 4 DT - 79 rebounds CC - 25 DT - 35 steals CC - 17 DT - 65 Blocks CC -18 DT - 90 By reviewing the overall rankings in the WNBA This year, CC has outperformed Taurasi a US team member, in nearly every category!
NO WAY! Isiah was already a 2x NBA champ and 10x NBA Allstar when snubbed for Dream Team. STOP THIS NONSENSE! Clark has played in just 11 games total and has a 2-9 record. Give her a chance to build her professional resume. Lastly, she isn’t the only great player snubbed this year. But by NO MEANS is this EVEN CLOSE to equivalent to Jordan snubbing Isiah. Women’s basketball is in good shape, will win gold, and will keep growing no matter if people watch the Olympics OR NOT. Clark, will get her chance. Next time
Jordan didnt snub anyone . The Olympic committee chose to not select isiah because multiple players not Jordan didnt want Isiah on the team but the Dream Team wasnt that big of a deal anyway
Hmm. I have another 8:52 take on the decision. Team USA may be trying to have their cake and eat it, too. First, select the 12 players for Team USA and they are honored. But Chelsea Gray is injured. Other Team USA members might become injured before the Olympics. Then ask Clark to join the team as a replacement for an injured player. The initial 12 are honored. And when Clark comes on to replace the injured player, she is honored and ratings for the women's basketball games spike. From the Iowa Mafia.
This mentality in the WNBA veteran players, coaches and leadership of being entitled to all the benefits of an American professional league and the “best” hoopers in the world is clouding their judgement and treatment of sensational Caitlin Clark. Despite the fact that they miserably failed in the past to attract the viewing public does not matter to them. They just feel entitled to everything. And Caitlin Clark getting all these monetary and fans adoration benefits fuel their jealousy. The non-inclusion of Caitlin Clark in the US Olympic team is just the way of them saying this is ours and we sekect who is entitled to it regardless whether it will elevate womens basketball to higher heights. Just plain JEALOUSY and PETTINESS. The reasons that they have been considered trash.
