Ive put on 15lbs of muscle while listening to meshuggah over the winter..there is nothing like lifting weights with ear buds...in a gym..while listening to this band..if you are human...you zone out and just destroy the weight..its insane. If you havent dont this (Id be shocked if you havent) you really need to...Meshuggah's intensity is like nothing else. They are my power...my anger..my aggression...
LIGHT WEIGHT BABYY
Meshuggah, cant find the words, but the goose bumps I get from this, so good
Lyrics are pure awesome. It'll Help me write some raps, underground not the lil wayne shit clearly haha
i could meditate to this, but that's about it. sounds really boring and repetitive. i get that it takes talent, it just all sounds the same. except for shed, i love that song
this song is such a mindfuck.... those bends deserve an award...
When Meshuggah practices, metronomes lose their rhythm and even clocks can't keep time
The riff that starts at 4:49 is the most mind-bending riff in the history of metal.
Seriously is lmao even 12 years later
4:49
Meshuggah is a band that takes time to appreciate.
they make more sense as you age
the solo at 5:20 is so dementedly awesome
5:20 may be the most beautiful solo of human history
This album (piece), rhythmically, is indeed one colossal paradoxical spiral
This is literally physically paralyzing while high.
Who needs drugs when you're listening to this?!
- The Paradoxical Spiral (0:00*)
- Re-Inanimate (3:12*)
- Entrapment (4:16*)
no
This is a master piece... so heavy and fat and the rythms are totally insanely exceptionally fucking good.
Unexplainable, apocalyptical and hypnotic. My skin went shrink hearing this masterpiece (This is not my first time I must say)
"Am I standing among a thousand selves? Is the multitude of laughters mine alone?"
I swear the riff @ 4:48 does things to me... it sounds like a giant transformer clearing a path through skyscrapers or some shit.
this is up there with ANY great long standing progressive rock album
I wonder what Lovecraft would think about Meshuggah ;)
It's hard to believe that everything that Meshuggah has produced isn't by a machine of some sorts. Does anybody know what kind of focus it takes to make music like this? The syncopation and use of polyrhythms and osinatos make this incredibly intricate and insane to play from start to finish. Only other band that can really be compared to this level of focus is probably Tool, but even Lateralus isn't as well orchestrated and intricate as this masterwork of an album. Amazing work by Meshuggah.
at 5:19 the way the riff and solo interact with each other makes me think of two interdimensional aliens communicating with each other half telepathically where they complete each other's thoughts
1:36 neck snapper
Disgusting groove
This is the worst quality sound. It does the album NO justice at all. Meshuggah is best heard with quality sound. Even the intro to this is too hard to hear. Listen to it on CD/320 kbs mp3 with a good sound system (canalphones?). You will hear the higher guitar stop, go, stop, go every 2nd beat. You will clearly hear the lower guitar playing underneath as well.
again, meshuggah is meant to be heard with a very good sound system. listening to this fuzzy quality ruins the music
@TheModCon the fucking CYMBALS, why can't people hear them? you can headbang to this entire song, even during the rests
Its weird, even though this is some of their darkest stuff, its also some of their most melodic
that solo
@123mopsy123 It's like that on every video on UA-cam, unfortunately.
yeah i like them more and more with every listen. honestly koloss to me is pretty damn good.
This was the first Meshuggah song I've ever heard. Still Amazed
5:20 = win
Listen to "I" by Meshuggah
Probably, the band listened to mcuh progressive and jazz rock,Voi Vod,industrial, experimentalist groups asn stuff liek that! Very complicated and enerving songs!
Meshuggah's genre is MESHUGGAH.
@ShapeshifterMusic They are not easily digested. Layers of complicated rythyms and meanings within meanings do not a mainstream pop song make. You want mainstream metal, go listen to disturbed, hah.
@dujl he thought that because of the promotion of ''metal foundry'' by Drumkit From Hell, where they made the song again with that drumkit behind it. i guess he thought that was the real song
este disco es para escucharlo con el disco original...asi no es lo mismo...la onda es escucharlo todo decorrido como el disco..asi si se entiende la locura q tratan de expresar.
Paradoxical spiral is fucking impossible to tap to, and I love it. :)
@UltimateEnd72
Word came from Fredrik Thordendal. You know, of Meshuggah.
this CD did not leave my car's cd player for about a year. And the only reason it did was because it was NO LONGER READABLE. I just bought my 3rd copy of amazon. THANK THE MUSICAL GODS FOR MESHUGGAH
That's all good and well but, not everyone is looking for something to take from a trip outside of the experience. Most people take hallucinogens for the sole purpose of getting..... well... off there head. and when it becomes something else and turns negative and there is no consoling them in anyway ,well, it can only be described as a bad thing. I do agree that you can take good things from those experience's, as in you learn something new, but as a whole the experience is bad.
@Tool78Maynard Gotta stay on em though. can't over do it either, cousin of mine was gettin' too over excited I guess to get big and he was taking huge spoonfulls of the ...uh, Dont remember ...certain protien shake and he started vomitting, going to the bathroom to shit way too much, and his muscles were like 2/4 water.
He was big but he was like a fucking jelly ball haha
@JimjimThe3rd - Isn't he a righty? He usually keeps the time in his right hand no? I'm finding that as I hold down the cymbal, or keep that constant pulse in my body, the other stuff lines up. I personally disagree with the whole polymetric thing b/c it confuses things too much. I like to find the cycles/patterns.
ALthough most of the music scene is surrounded by drugs use and/or abuse, is not a requirement, and doesn't mean that you have to be on drugs to do a masterpiece...1 example: the English guistarrist and composer Robert Fripp...I guess you guys know who i'm talking about...(maybe the name King Crimson gives you an idea)
You know whatever, Im just sick of people ruining these videos with these flame wars.
This is UA-cam....OK? We're here to listen to this great music. Restrict your comments to that, or get the fuck out.
If you want to talk about drugs go to some video that actually condoning it and fight them, not a music vid
@CORNP00 Im in the same mindset man..Creatine..Meshuggah..Weights..and women... Who needs drugs when you have that combo? lol
What a nice Lo-fi hip hop song for dream 'n chilling. Bravo Jens
@supah1337B Agreed..im very picky on what supplements I choose. Alot of them have fillers, etc. Not just protein...Creatine, etc as well. I take this pre workout supplement called jacked..it just has THREE ingredients..thats all. Alot of supplements have enormous amounts of things you dont really need.
hah. why do i need to 'Grow a spine' and 'grow up' because i am opposed to drugs?? in my opinion one should grow up and not use drugs. its much more impressive for one who abstains from excessive drinking and doing drugs and still secceeds amazingly at what they do. drugs are for losers really.
im not fighting anyone. my first comment was adressing simply that it offends me that people think everything great has to be assisted with drugs. anyways. i agree and i hate arguments in comments on a video page so we can move on.
Well grow a spine. I dont know what they said but I guess it was Meshuggah uses drugs?
Please like 80% of GOOD bands through history have.......
I dont know about Meshuggah but I wouldnt be surprised if they do, and its not a big deal. grow up
@supah1337B lol damn that sucks..Fortunately I dont have that issue..Im 6'5" haha and I dont take steroids..never will. Just pre workout supplements, protein powder and a well balanced diet...AND Meshuggah of course haha
u need patience because meshuggah is righteous, You will learn to understand the "repetition" this band's feeling lies primarily in the rhythm try listening to the progression of the beat
@supah1337B lol a jelly ball haha..Yeah man, im very careful with what I do regarding supplements..some of it can fuck you up if you dont take it properly. Thanks for the heads up bro.
@supah1337B It really is insane..I cant stop listening to this band..all my previous music..its...just boring as shit now.. lol Tool and Meshuggah are hands down my favorite bands of all time.
How can someone puts thumb down?!!! Surely u might cut ur fingers...
@cheenaxe Dude, all their albums are not done on DFH. Don't say things that are false. Also, are you implying that any album but Catch 33 was not recorded on a real kit?
protip to all people having issues with nodding your head or tapping your toes to this song: It works if you nod your head every downbeat.
you know I'm new to this band but at everyone I listened so far on youtube there was always a comment about a fight or people arguing.
@Kawabic Lol, I've seen every video there is. Tomas makes clear that they don't want to be associated with weed smoking. He just states that it happens.
Why do people fight via UA-cam comments, its so stupid.
Just listen to the music and appreciate this masterpiece of a song.
Rest assured the members of Meshuggah will not loose sleep over internet idiots idle banter. Meshuggah reigns supreme.
Meshuggah is fucking awsome. The only bad thing is that they honestly give me a little bit of a headache.
@Tool78Maynard IMO Meshuggah is 99.5% the entire workout, the other .5% is diet and the exersises :P
groove it says, groove you will ;)
This is so awesome.
I'm going to buy this album. NOW.
anyone remember the video of this song being played over the scenes from Terminator? Wish I could find that again..
Actually I do remember that video
Yeah it was dope, always think of it when I'm listening to this one.
@Tool78Maynard Watch with the protien, some of that shit just fills your muscles with water.
@Coxdrummer89 haake's not actually playing the drums on this track. it's a computer.
@portoboot ....248,543,958,240,958,204,578 times ...Per second too be exact.
Ok have fun. And doing nothing is not the only alternative to doing drugs
@cheenaxe No. Just...no. Catch 33 was the only one where they used DFH
Man it takes some serious patience to listen to every second of this. Very repetitive, it gets. But it's beautiful.
Now there's a clear and simple truth. Freaks me out man. Freaks me out.
@vork666 Protip: just listen for the china/hi hat/whatever he happens to be using to keep time. It doesn't matter what time signature it's in (though it's usually 4/4), you can just listen for that regular beat and keep on head banging. I promise it won't change the whole way through.
@Lookin4aDime Lol, the drums are fake? What does that mean?
@vork666
I'm working on my doctorate RIGHT NOW!!!
@mathprodigy dfh drumkit from hell. google that shit.
lol what does fear have to do with reading a book?
@Kawabic But you don't know that. You just assume.
I banged head when drummer hits crash so its 4/4
This sounds like that song from COD World at War
After so meny years..... fuck me.
pure psychoshit, but it sounds fantastic!
Makes you wanna BANG!!!!!! (your head.. )
theres a face in the top right hand corner
AGH! The droning awesomeness of this song is orgasmic!
@vork666 hahahah "post-doctoral math rock", a new sub-genre
@Lookin4aDime Show me proof.
Now.
4:48 Hagstrom does Herbie Hancock :D
@IerekBass4Life Mind's Mirrors?
I don't know why, but this song helps me concentrate really hard XD
Best youtube channel name ever.
2:40 i will gladly listen to Fredrik, Dick, and Marten play the same fucking notes over and over again and i will like it!
@evillazlow
exelent..
This song is unexplainable.
from fcuking outta space
this is my wank tune.
@FriedBacon86 Typically this is true. The only exception for me is when it comes on my MP3 player in the gym and I can all of a sudden lift a dump truck. That doesn't require thinking though so it works
@UltimateEnd72 It takes a very sophisticated mind to appreciate the subtle yet intricate nature that music like this brings to the table. But seriously, think about it, if all of us like minds joined together and used our numbers for something epic, like for instance, holding the federal reserve hostage until the are audited...By the way, all kidding aside I'm dead serious. I love my country, but I hate the filth that she's covered with...
