Unfortunate many of their new products are identical to the Ryobi line. I love Ryobi for the right job, but paying 50% more for their drills is crazy.... Most/all my new rigid stuff is BOSS tho- the octane 7 1/4" circ saw works better than any CORDED circ saw I've ever used
HEY THOSE SPIKES ARE AWESOME. Not for the normal reason you think though. You can Cut angles if you put your angle on a board and cut your stock alongside it!!! I needed some 45 degree logs and I easily just pushed the saw against the board as a guide thanks to those spikes. I really tore up some wood with this thing. You can do quite a bit, you can easily build a guide to cut angles. Not a problem to hold out one handed. You really do get a fast spinning chain that pulls itself through wood. I’ve buried this thing and it cuts at full speed if you Watch and let it do its thing. Safety should always be your main concern. Tension your chain. Cut from above to easily drop branches, the saw doesn’t get trapped like it does when you cut from underneath. I crushed 6 Batteries (2 6ah, and 4 Grey lithium 4ah) Today in 10 hours. I am impressed, I was holding the trigger for a long time doing some intense carving, holding it comfortably in Any position you can think. I did not get MAX output terminals on my saw. Kind of upset about having all these black batteries that don’t Have MAX benefits. Just running my Worse batteries on this thing cause I bought em and they finally found a purpose.
I have 22 Ridgid tools and love them all! I have the smaller blower , works great to blow out garage, driveway , patio etc. My tools are just as powerful as rest out there or maybe better, but no one else has lifetime warranty!! Had the rest won't go back to two yrs to replace due to break down! Too expensive to replace if you bought once and only lasts 2 yrs!Plus my batteries works with them ALL how can you go wrong!

Is that fresh Birch your cutting at 13:21 ? i agree it should have better "buck" plate,made of steal and better/longer spikes to grip log or branch.. more of a pruner type as stated, but did well on the 7" log, nice vid, i may just buy one now.. Thanks!
Great video! Good pacing, good discussion… The 56 V 18” Ego with giant batteries even has trouble with some logs like that, so it looks like the Ridgid is doing pretty well with its 18 V. Looks good too, I like it.
After all these reviews and I know this one's been up for a year I am still jealous that you have that 12 volt Palm impact driver. I can't find one for the life of me used New Old stock nothing and when you do find them of course eBay they want an arm and a leg and the life of your first born child in monetary value. Absolutely nuts I have two two amp hours floating around and I have two 4 amp hours 12v batteries floating around somewhere
Is the sprocket interchangeable with Stihl or Husky sprockets? It would be great if we could swap to a 7 or 8 tooth sprocket to get higher chain sped for carving.
I think this would be a good saw to have for those pieces of fire wood you find when pulling from the wood stack you cut just a bit too long. Since going though the process of starting a cold gas saw to make one cut can be a pain. Also if noise is a concern electric is the way to go.
I agree with your terminology regarding the size of the saw. I did the same thing when I picked out my 14" saw. I wanted little big saw; which is why I selected the 40v Greenworks instead of the EGO; which, in my opinion; is a big little one. I own both brands and really like both of them; for their targeted use. As far as this Ridgid goes; I think it looks/is kinda ridiculous.
Looks like the bucking spikes are molded into that sawdust plate. That's unfortunate. If it was a separate part, then you could swap it out for a metal version.
It seems to struggle a little compared to the Ryobi 40v ones. Shame. All my batteries are Rigid though and I think for what I need it for it'll do the trick.
I bought an adaptor to put my Ridgid battery on my Ryobi tools, since i have more Ridgid than Ryobi, cost around 30 bucks and you don't have to buy a lot of Ryobi battery

I will say tho this is what people think of when u mention cordless chainsaw’s this is what people think of and these kinds saws can be great in-betweeners & nothing wrong with that however there are maybe 4-6 what I’ll call next gen cordless chainsaw’s such as the m18 2727 and even more so the 2826 that are just on another level than compared to the Ridgid and at the 190$ price tag of the Ridgid you could literally find an open box M18 2727-20 for that..it has metal dogs plus that saw will pull a 24” bar thru hardwood….short story long Considering all the factors with the overall size being a bit odd, the lack of power and lastly the plastic dogs it’s gonna be a no for me….I think when it comes to cordless chainsaws for my use cases at least I’d recommend the m18 2727 or the 2826 & they’re just on another level. It was truly game changing for me when it comes to ttrimming, limbing, and bucking for felling there are still many situations that call for a gas saw however the two m18 saws can fell trees bigger than I’d be comfortable felling solo so it’s plenty for me..also the not having a gas saw running all the time when bucking and limbing and even felling trees up to 24” or so. Now for me personally I really love the M18 chain saws, low maintenance, torque in spades and cut like an angry beaver all pros except the fact that they’re extremely hard on and can even send batteries to an early grave
Hi, If you were going to buy a cordless chainsaw which would you personally buy. I currently have Milwaukee, Ridgid, and Makita tools in the 18 volt versions. But I would buy a different brand if it was better. I just want a work horse that will last.
based on other review videos out of those 3 I wanna say the Milwaukee is your best bet, that being said it's a good chunk more expensive, but it also is a good bit more performant. It depends on the use case. Something like this is perfect for me, makes a great one to keep under the back seat in the truck just in case and also is small enough that the wife can use it to trim up the trees after I fell them with the gas saw. This is not a replacement for a gas unit unless you live in a city and might trim a limb once a year.
That battery compartment looks a little claustrophobic on that 6AH battery. Ridgid just came out with an 8Ah and there's a 12Ah coming soon that I'm unsure would fit in this piece of equipment.

My lawn people have absolutely destroyed everything they’ve touched with their trimmer. I need it to cut grass a small weeds, not shred my hardy plank and notch out my fence posts.
No, you need something more powerful. Even the RYOBI HP saw is a much better saw. The Milwaukee and EGO saws are also better saws. Thanks for watching.
You said it was a 6 pin or (tooth) sprocket. And you measured 6 drivers. But only 3 or 4 driver interact with the sprocket at one time. Do you think that will change the math?
Wow I had hopes for this as I’m a Ridgid fanboy but this looks like a kid’s toy. The way it bogs down so badly while cutting is worrisome. But of course you have to consider intended use. I would use this for clearing small 3-5” trees or chopping up fallen branches in my yard etc. This is not going to be used for cutting cords and cords of firewood for the winter. So if you don’t use it for crazy stuff it should be fine. I don’t like that it leaks oil like all other chainsaws, especially hate that for electrics. Lately I’ve had to cut a lot of dogwood trees down and that wood is very dense stuff. Not sure how this would go with that.
Why can't anyone come out with metal dogs for extra bite?....the ryobi 60v chainsaw is great too but still plastic dogs. The battery lasts a long time and its great for camping or yard cleanup.

We don’t think it’s the chain holding this one back. It just doesn’t deliver the power needed to keep the chain speed up on larger material. 4” and smaller material, it will do fine, but it’s not setting any records.

Anyone who has spent any time using a gas powered chainsaw, will find a speed less than 20 meters per second, annoyingly slow. My little top handled Makita goes 24 meters per second. I bought it after finding out how slow the Rigid saw was.

We’ve had one in Australia for about 5 years, that looks like an update from the one we have.

Those big LOGS are good for my 18 inch Ego the smaller ones fit this chain saw I will consider this for lite weight and easy carry

Really great video here. Helps my decision to buy one. Bet a tougher spike set causes more cut out or engine overburden for an electric motor

yeah I have an echo cs-355t and I want one of these too.
I like the side mount battery, keeps it a little cleaner unlike a few other brands that have top load...

Based on the Run Time of my Flexvolt 60 Sawsall with a 9amp hr battery run time is so limited and quite heavy

A couple years with the AEG version, yes it does leak oil. I have to store it lying on the oil cap side.
