@@MohitYadav-th7fz They are all good funds. Like any active funds they will also underperform in bouts from time to time. You have to accept that and carry on your investment or have to change. I can't see any other alternative.
Everybody say small cap MFs are of very high risk. But when I check past performance of small cap funds of good MFs like SBI, AXIS, QUANT, ICICI etc. Almost all given very high return. How and Why? Can anybody explain
Small-cap companies have a lot of opportunity for growth, their market is not saturated. Small-cap companies' management they have the least experience in the market so they usually do experiments, experiments can go well or they can fail. Whereas large-cap companies are market leaders, they know what works well so they don't experiment with things instead they keep the growth steady. So that makes large-cap companies less volatile vs small-cap companies more volatile. So the risk with small-cap companies is that if they fail and cannot recover they might have to shut down the business, resulting in losses for their shareholders. So that is why people say small-cap companies are very high risk. But, you are talking about MF, so MF will do more research on the company management, their future plans, etc and they create a basket of good small-cap companies. So if you invest Rs. 100, and half of the companies generate positive returns while half go bankrupt, you still have positive returns. Because, you lose limited money but you have chances of earning 2x,3x, and 10x returns on the companies generating positive returns. So with MF, you see they deliver high returns compared to a large cap. But, still, small-cap funds are risky because it might be possible that 80-90% of the companies in the fund go negative and the rest of the companies don't generate that much of positive returns.
