Randy Savage would have carried the WWF if Hogan wasn’t there. Also I think other legends would have shined more, Rick Rude, Curt Hennig, Jake Roberts, etc.
The thing is, the WWF was dying AFTER Hogan, Savage and many other big names left. If it wasn't for the downfall of the WCW, as well as Vince turning the WWF/WWE into a crazy frat party, then the WWF may have also ended up just a faded distant memory along with the WCW.

1) Hogan is right in that he has a legacy that cannot be denied. People are essentially canceling him now for being a Trump supporter. Hulk goes right politically.

I think Taker called out Austin not because he wanted to defend Hogan or mock Austin but he wanted to defend the public image of WWE. The more important people inside the business choose to talk about Hogan, the worse reputation mainstream media will have of WWE and by consequence, of pro wrestling in general. For him someone like Austin (an important member of the wrestling business) shouldnt denounce another important figure of the business without carefully thinking about the unwanted consequences of his words.
Taker always has been a company man and isnt open about his political and social views for a good reason.
