Sure, you might have a single run with clover that ends because you didn't have anything to proc it with, but you can essentially say the same or something similar for every single item in this game. Additionally, having bad luck with item rolls after getting a single good one will kill any run you play; it's not unique to 57-leaf Clover. Thus, it's the fact that it exponentially increases the conditional effect of all but 1 item in the game that makes it far, far greater than any red. For example, Happiest Mask's conditional requirement is to kill things so if you already lack damage it won't save your run. Early game Red Whips are deceptively strong in how they work for you. You can clear early stages substantially faster (and open more chests in less time) getting more items and wasting less time. The faster clear times and more items early on has a multiplicative effect where by the time you make it to your 2nd or 3rd loop, you are stronger with more items, and the enemy are weaker due to a faster clear time and less enemy scaling over time.
i dunno about razor wire, it only really becomes incredibly strong on certain survivors (rex) or with certain setups (hellfire tincture) this is the same case for the bustling fungus (engineer), which didn't make the list because of its niche usage
Rose Bucklers have grown on me for the same reason Elephant has grown on you. One of the few items in the game that can protect you from a Scavenger with Ceremonial Daggers.
yea bro, the very first item i got on a run the other day was a clover. By the time the run was finished, 330 minutes later, stage 32, it was glorious.
Woolie: There are very few things in Risk of Rain 2 that can increase your damage Focusing Crystal: Am I a joke to you? And yeah Focusing Crystals can actually be very powerful in giving you increased damage, I got lucky one time with a Shrine of Order and it gave me 162 Focusing Crystals and I was either killing enemies in one or two shots but with the disadvantage of always having to be 13m close to enemies to make use of the effect. But it does work very good with Mercenary, Mul-T, and GoodB0iPoisonDoggo.
acrids poison, rex's weaken and root, artificers freesze, merc/mul-t blast canister/stun grenade stun and there are 3 different strength slows that can be used from huntress arrow rain, chronobauble and runalds band (in order of strength) that count as different debuffs. Last but not least there's shattering justice before and after the 5 hits to proc it
Unless they add 56 leaf clover, 57 is staying top tier. And they'd have to make 56 a legendary. They wont add it because it let you completely break the game in the original, but its effect is even better than the 57.
Id even argue that the meathooks are tied with the clover. There are only 3 items that do true proc chains: Atg, Uke and the Meathook. A raw clover and a raw meathook don't do to much, they both scale very well with on hits though. Without the meathook you can only can some chains with the atgs proccing ukes or vice versa, the meathook significantly increases the ammount and the lenght of your proc chains.
Just a random tidbit, but I use this item combo to obliterate on Monsoon easy. Get 9 lens makers glasses, 1 predator instinct and then stack Harvester’s Scythe. You do double damage and heal on every hit. That can be doubled by using Rejuvenation Rack, which you can stack as well! I do it a lot and become a tank every run on any character. Hopefully it helps the new players!
I once got genesis loop on engineer, the turrets copy over your stats, they constantly died and so there was a spam of 6000% damage explosion killing everything nearby, best run I have ever had.
Something I've found with MUL-T, Tri-Tip Dagger, Stun Grenade, and Lens-Maker's Glasses is that they are all *broken* together, especially with the Nailgun, as it's starting attack speed is higher than the starting attack speed of the Commando. The Nailgun's high attack speed allows you to get really high bleed stack on an enemy and stun lock them, allowing you to quickly focus to another enemy.
Chronobauble is now a semi-okay item if you have deathmark. Not for its effect, just that it has a guaranteed one in hit and pretty much the only fully 100% reliable debuff in the game and really just lowers deathmark's requirmentfrom 4 to 3 debuffs on an enemy.
I actually keep an eye out for the Chronobauble for one thing: Mithrix. My first time killing him, he could hardly move, let alone reach me, and I realized it was due to the Baubles I had. Actually for real, if you aren't on a character/item setup that has an "oh shit, gotta move" contingency, it is helpful as hell on a boss that can obliterate you if he gets close.
Brainstalks is my favorite red. Its definitely not as good as the clover, but it has the best feedback of any item. Especially playing on someone like merc, everytime you kill an elite you go super sayin and can dash around infinity while invulnerable. Unless your really paying attention, you tend to not even notice that your have a clever after a while, but the games makes sure you know you have a brainstalkes because it tints your screen on activation.
On mercenary, had a altar of order, items after that were 2 times glass, 2 times sacrafical daggers, aaand 17 times the jump boost item, that leaps ya forward. Trust me, ain't a pleasant experience
To me Blast Shower is a hell of a good equipment to have. I can't count how many times it saved my ass from Elites and Scanvengy bois. You can cleanse Fire, bleed, freeze, slow, anti-heal and even the after effect of the overloading elites. Add to that the extremely low 20 sec cooldown (meaning you don't even need any gesture or cell) and you got yourself the swiss knife of equipments. Only down side to me if we compare it with the jade elephant is that scavengers with daggers will always end your life and break your back.
Ngl, would have thought you'd at least mention the fact that gnarled woodsprite has some pretty dope synergy with warhorn, having about 50% uptime of +70% att speed with just those two items. I'd have thought it'd be worth noting, but yeah.
head stomper's underrated. one shotting bosses on lvl 99 difficulty on monsoon is pretty damn op. get a few extra jumps/wax quails and one shot ANYthing. get brillian behemoth and one shot EVERYthing.
MUL-T can technically also attack while sprinting with the Sawblade. You can activate and hold it down and then start sprinting to deal damage to enemies while moving faster and a little extra damage to enemies you hit or pass by while ramming. He can also just have a rebar shot charged up and ready to fire while sprinting.
Chronobauble has its place in hit-and-run playstyles. Add crowd control items to an incomplete proc build, and although you can’t outright kill an enemy, their inability to move efficiently is a boon, especially where Elder Lemurians are concerned.
I would have rated fuel cell as strong, with a bunch of fuel cells and a royal capacitor and a gesture your gaze becomes a ridiculously powerful weapon constantly calling down lightning bolts
Problem with fuel is that its not really strong unless you have 8+ of each. Might as well say Lens-maker is just as strong because "if you have enough" you basically have double damage.
With that combo Rocket Launcher is even better IMO. You constantly spam rockets without end and it requires no targeting on your behalf. Your rockets just fly out and automatically obliterate everything.
i think i understand proc chains now: you proc some stuff with a coefficient which procs some more stuff which procs some more stuff... and you end up nuking everything
One thing I will say in defense of the bauble: It's good at keeping Engineer Gauss turrets alive against melee enemies. The slow effect prevents them from closing in on your turrets before your turrets can kill them.
dont forget Fireworks. I had a Run where i had nearly 40 Fireworks and everytime i would open a chest, or activate a shrine, i would have dmg support during the Teleporter event. They went on for Hours and Hours
I think the Stun grenades should have an honorable mention. You can just spray a little of mul-t autonailgun on it and it stops its laser attack. Same with wisps.
They can be good, but they're not THAT good. Like I'd never see a shop with Stun Grenade, Hoof, Syringe and even for a second consider taking the Grenade.
Stun grenade, while it can't proc other items, can stop you from taking damage because it interrupts attacks and is essentially what the community wants the chronobauble to be (slowing down the attacks of the monsters in addition to their movement speed) but a complete stun instead.
The most powerful item in ror2 is by far will-o-the-wisp. with 20~45 (u just need like 10 of them and 4 crowbars to completly breake ur game btw) of this items u can clear an ENTIRE map with a single kill, AND if u have the corrupted version of it u can clear an entire map with a SINGLE SHOT. EXTREMELY powerful with crowbar. summarising , if u are looking for the perfect build that works on EVERY character the build is Will-o-the-wisp + Crowbar for damage + Infusion + Topaz Brooch for survivability
i would actually argue that attack speed is good on artificer too as it charges nano bomb faster paired with backup mags for quick huge damage but i agree its not as important as on other characters
i had a run with 4 people, where 3 died in a mountain boss run, he dropped fuel cells gesture and the only survivor had the gesture of the drowned + backup, the moment he went through the portal the game suddenly spawned like 3 charges worth of drones which crashed the game
Sticky bombs are a non diminishing 9% dps increase (glasses are 10% up to 10 stacks assuming no other crit sources) but if you have 100% crit they are 18% non diminishing dps increase. Stickies can spawn on every non damaging hit (not dot tick) and it will always be the final hit of a proc chain. It benefits the most of any item from damage items because of this. For instance, atgm missiles is 300% total damage per stack (but at a static 5% proc chance) but a sticky can proc of a missile, but a missile cannot proc itself. What this means is that every sticky bomb up to 20 stacks will add 1/20 of 180% aditional total damage on every hit (1/20 of 360% if you have crit) per stack. If you have 100% crit and 100% proc on stickies, a 5k hit from an ability, atgm proc, wisp explosion etc can spawn a sticky that will do an aditional hit of 180% of that damage, which can crit. It's like having an overcrit that can overcrit. Proc a stacked atgm off a royal capacitor that then procs a sticky and all hits in the chain were crits can produce hits in the millions, and this can happen really early in a run.
No mention of Hardlight Afterburner makes me a sad panda. So many characters get such a huge buff from just 1- Engineer has 100% uptime bubble shield, Loader can chain Falcon Punches, Huntress gets absolutely bonkers mobility. I love it so much.
I primarily play Ror2 with my friends in private games, but every now and then i play a solo run and i find that stage 8 monsoon is such a huge hurdle to get over. Even with good items its like the stage where the power ramps up and i usually wipe at 8 or 9 bc of that
I don't know, I like the fact that I don't need to manage it, it works on it's own. Enough gestures and catalysts and it's always going off, and it wins my fights for me so I can loot.
It's not as good by itself. However, the relatively low CD and the fact that missiles require no targeting make it an absolute monster for fuel cell/gesture combos.
I'm a big fan of sentient meathooks if you can get a couple of ukeleles or a bazooka (although getting multiple reds doesn't often give you good ones). Didn't know the guided missile proc'ed other items though, just went up a notch.
Disposable Missile Launcher is arguably the strongest equipment in the game for the same reason the ATG is so good, it has a proc coefficient of 1 and in combination with Gesture and Fuel Cells you can literally get infinitely firing missiles that just spam the map with nonstop proc chances while you can just stand there and laugh. Not that Royal Capacitor is bad though, I'd definitely take it over the crowdfunder
Important note! the Transcendance is best when you use Plasma Shrimp as it guarantees that you always have plasma shimp available (if you are using plasma shrimp actively pls take ICBM even if it costs you a ton of greenies as the thing makes plasma WAY stronger than what they are)
If you have the spinel tonic with a jester and just 2 cells the time that the tonic is off is just 2 seconds so in that condition taking it is worth it
The most impressive thing about Chronobauble is, that it is so useless on players, but so strong on enemies. This slowdown makes you an easy target for any enemy.
When you're one man fighting an endless stream of alien monsters slowly a few isn't going to do much of anything. When your the monsters it is invaluable. This is what we get for ridiculing chronobauble it will have its revenge.
The Little Disciples Yellow item is, in my opinion, the best yellow in the game, hands down. The fire rate increases with move speed, and it has a 1.0 proc coefficent. It can just constantly kill things, even without you attacking.
It's one of my favorite items, but it runs the risk of causing massive lag and even outright crashes if you go into or near god run territory due to sheer projectile count.

Rose Bucklers have grown on me for the same reason Elephant has grown on you. One of the few items in the game that can protect you from a Scavenger with Ceremonial Daggers.
Woolie: " your items are only determined by RNGesus himself"
Hopoo: **releases artifact of command** "ARE U SURE ABOUT THAT?"
I got 3 clovers in a run yesterday, the first one on stage 1
yea bro, the very first item i got on a run the other day was a clover. By the time the run was finished, 330 minutes later, stage 32, it was glorious.
poggers bro
Got a clover as my first item and got no good on-hit items after that and died early in the run and I was pissed
I literally haven’t seen the light of a clover for a month
So it’s good to stack them? Awesome. I’m actually here right now because I’m playing as the captain 147 minutes in wondering what I should pick. 😁
Woolie: There are very few things in Risk of Rain 2 that can increase your damage
Focusing Crystal: Am I a joke to you?
And yeah Focusing Crystals can actually be very powerful in giving you increased damage, I got lucky one time with a Shrine of Order and it gave me 162 Focusing Crystals and I was either killing enemies in one or two shots but with the disadvantage of always having to be 13m close to enemies to make use of the effect. But it does work very good with Mercenary, Mul-T, and GoodB0iPoisonDoggo.
And loader. The ultimate one punch item. Pair with crowbars for M A X I M U M P O W E R
@@morganpriest7726 Oh yeah, how could I forget Miss Falcon Punch
Loader + 162 Focus crystal = 2430% more damage, now thats some V A L U E
Woolie:" Chronobauble is completely useless"
Artifact 2.0 Update: *Laughs in Death Mark*
Death mark is very strong 💪
Yeah but it needs four debuffs, I can reliably get bleed fire slow then what?
acrids poison, rex's weaken and root, artificers freesze, merc/mul-t blast canister/stun grenade stun and there are 3 different strength slows that can be used from huntress arrow rain, chronobauble and runalds band (in order of strength) that count as different debuffs. Last but not least there's shattering justice before and after the 5 hits to proc it
Unless they add 56 leaf clover, 57 is staying top tier. And they'd have to make 56 a legendary. They wont add it because it let you completely break the game in the original, but its effect is even better than the 57.
What's the 56 clover?
@@Amirifiz killing elites have a chance to drop items
Isn't that literally just.. Artifact of Sacrifice?
Joke's on you mr streamer, chronobauble god tier now because of death mark. I bet you are the feeling silly right now
when chronobauble's only purpose is contributing towards death mark
Id even argue that the meathooks are tied with the clover. There are only 3 items that do true proc chains: Atg, Uke and the Meathook.
A raw clover and a raw meathook don't do to much, they both scale very well with on hits though. Without the meathook you can only can some chains with the atgs proccing ukes or vice versa, the meathook significantly increases the ammount and the lenght of your proc chains.
Hardlight afterburners is also a very good red item especially for characters like captain or loader
I once got genesis loop on engineer, the turrets copy over your stats, they constantly died and so there was a spam of 6000% damage explosion killing everything nearby, best run I have ever had.
bro i never even thought of that. Genesis loop on engi sounds broken
@@mdnght5592 _because it is_
"preon accumulator has the longest cooldown"
Glowing Meteorite: Am I a joke to you?
yes glowing meteorite IS a joke i remember getting it + gesture in a multiplayer run
lets just say my two engineers were not happy
Are we going to talk about how gesture can be combined with drugs to infa drug, this has saved low rng runs on so many occasions for me
Wax quail above hopoo feather is crazy
Woolie: Kjaros band can't proc any other items.
Runalds Band: Am I some sort of joke to you?
I actually keep an eye out for the Chronobauble for one thing: Mithrix. My first time killing him, he could hardly move, let alone reach me, and I realized it was due to the Baubles I had. Actually for real, if you aren't on a character/item setup that has an "oh shit, gotta move" contingency, it is helpful as hell on a boss that can obliterate you if he gets close.
Tesla coil is the best legendary in the game because theres no feeling better than removing lesser wisps entirely from the game
bruh
Brainstalks is my favorite red. Its definitely not as good as the clover, but it has the best feedback of any item. Especially playing on someone like merc, everytime you kill an elite you go super sayin and can dash around infinity while invulnerable. Unless your really paying attention, you tend to not even notice that your have a clever after a while, but the games makes sure you know you have a brainstalkes because it tints your screen on activation.
Okay so whoever thought before you played risk of rain that a goat leg would be useful
Chronobauble is top tier if you take it with Glowing Meteorite and make your teammates cry. That slow is LONG.
Clover decreases chance of spinel debuff exponentially
I never thought of that. Man that'd be a good strat. Take a couple of clover and then some tonic to go
@@LuminousLead Still not worth the risk, desu, and gestures+fuel cells are a hell of a lot more reliable to find than clovers.
@@OMalleyTheMaggot You're right. Increase the frequency of the uptime and the downtime disappears.
Video idea, give a build order for Artifact of Control runs. It would be nice to know what order to get each item.
0:36 *laughs in artifact of command*
Ngl, would have thought you'd at least mention the fact that gnarled woodsprite has some pretty dope synergy with warhorn, having about 50% uptime of +70% att speed with just those two items. I'd have thought it'd be worth noting, but yeah.
3:57 uhm. ACKCHUALLY Mr streamer.. that’s streamer loot. Crit googs are so rare for me.
RNJESUS 👏
Engineer stacking fungus and rejuvenation rack makes N'kuhana's Opinion go absolutely nutty.
head stomper's underrated.
one shotting bosses on lvl 99 difficulty on monsoon is pretty damn op.
get a few extra jumps/wax quails and one shot ANYthing. get brillian behemoth and one shot EVERYthing.
Your rockets just fly out and automatically obliterate everything.
about 10 gestures or so and an elephant: congrats you are now invincible until your second loop (good luck getting that without command tho)
i think i understand proc chains now: you proc some stuff with a coefficient which procs some more stuff which procs some more stuff... and you end up nuking everything
One thing I will say in defense of the bauble: It's good at keeping Engineer Gauss turrets alive against melee enemies. The slow effect prevents them from closing in on your turrets before your turrets can kill them.
having ocular hud and teddies is better then having glasses.
change my mind
dont forget Fireworks.
I had a Run where i had nearly 40 Fireworks and everytime i would open a chest, or activate a shrine, i would have dmg support during the Teleporter event.
They went on for Hours and Hours
Wood sprite+n’ukanas is surprisingly powerful and is very good for whittling things down
I think the Stun grenades should have an honorable mention. You can just spray a little of mul-t autonailgun on it and it stops its laser attack. Same with wisps.
Blade1185 not really good on artificer, huntress, merc, loader, and doggie boi
They can be good, but they're not THAT good. Like I'd never see a shop with Stun Grenade, Hoof, Syringe and even for a second consider taking the Grenade.
Dan lorett that's a good point. If I had no stun grenades tho, I would get it, but generally I would prefer the hoof
IMO the best boss item is shatterspleen when you have 10 glasses.
yea I think Woolie also thinks so nowadays. this video is VERY old within the context of risk of rain
Is there anyway you could do a video on item distribution in multiplayer, ya know, which item should be going to who.
My personal favorite ones are the Guitars when you have like 10 of them, and the leech thingy
the bauble is the best in the game because it looks funny
i had a run with 4 people, where 3 died in a mountain boss run, he dropped fuel cells gesture and the only survivor had the gesture of the drowned + backup, the moment he went through the portal the game suddenly spawned like 3 charges worth of drones which crashed the game
The chronobauble can stop mythrix from using his item steal. And it's also an essential part of each speedrun :D
No red whip mention smh.
Chronobauble is great for deathmark, 100% chance to cause a debuff
A friend of mine showed me the autopilot power of Forgive Me Please and Daggers. I think THAT can beat out a Clover sometimes.
Dio's best friend when clover gets nominated
"Sadface"
I just started playing this game. It's going to take a long time for me to recognize all the items.
Right now I just pick up everything.
Even with good items its like the stage where the power ramps up and i usually wipe at 8 or 9 bc of that
Why wasn't the Disposable Missile Launcher in here?
Because it is disposable duh. Gotta loot it again after using
Bc its garbo, tonic/helfire/funder/capacitor are all miles better.
It's good enough if you don't have anything better, but not good enough to warrant taking over anything mentioned here
I don't know, I like the fact that I don't need to manage it, it works on it's own.
How to make a good build: pick up items. After that, pick up items. When you are almost finished, pick up items.
Important note! the Transcendance is best when you use Plasma Shrimp as it guarantees that you always have plasma shimp available
(if you are using plasma shrimp actively pls take ICBM even if it costs you a ton of greenies as the thing makes plasma WAY stronger than what they are)
If you have the spinel tonic with a jester and just 2 cells the time that the tonic is off is just 2 seconds so in that condition taking it is worth it
no he literally said those couple seconds with the debuff will get u killed
in general, there are no strong and weak subjects in Ror 2 in different situations, each subject is good in its own way
FINALLY SOMEONE TALKED ABOUT WILL OH WISPS thank god
baubles slow counts as a debuff, which helps out when trying to stack debuffs for Death Mark
marginally useful, but useful regardless
The most impressive thing about Chronobauble is, that it is so useless on players, but so strong on enemies. This slowdown makes you an easy target for any enemy.
When you're one man fighting an endless stream of alien monsters slowly a few isn't going to do much of anything.
When your the monsters it is invaluable.
This is what we get for ridiculing chronobauble it will have its revenge.

I wish hopoo made a lunar called ”Heel of arrogance” or something like that and it would double movement speed and half health
The Little Disciples Yellow item is, in my opinion, the best yellow in the game, hands down. The fire rate increases with move speed, and it has a 1.0 proc coefficent. It can just constantly kill things, even without you attacking.
there is no denying the power of the *c u b e*
I love the ceremonial dagger since it has 100% proc and is pretty strong when you have Alot of ukulele's and firefly jars, plus that hit crits
It's one of my favorite items, but it runs the risk of causing massive lag and even outright crashes if you go into or near god run territory due to sheer projectile count.
