Seeing a visual of a near perfect squat performed is always a great learning tool.
People underestimate the power of visualization.

These kinds of fundamental overviews are so valuable to people of all levels! I've been doing the SS low bar squat for five years and still benefit from being reminded of the basics. It's like the legend of Vince Lombardi opening training camp for the NFL Champs saying: "Gentlemen, this is a football."

So true. As is the case with so many things, it's mostly all about doing a few basic things . . . very well and very consistently. Thanks for the comment!

I think the use of the hips actually translates pretty well to a high bar squat as well. Too many people try to do it "perfectly upright" and end up having a wobbly inconsistent back angle. Thinking about purposefully inclining over a little bit while keeping a strong rigid back will do wonders there too.

Yep, you're right. The back angle won't be as horizontal as in a low bar squat, but hip drive is still a useful concept. We have several lifters at Testify who can't use the low bar position due to a previous shoulder injury, lack of flexibility, etc., and they don't lean over as much, but there is always a certain amount of "lean."

Nice and succinct. You deserve a much larger subscriber base. Unfortunately the UA-cam competition is fierce 😞.
