    chasing a similar issue - have no turns/hazards, replaced the MFS and still no turns/hazards but now no crank even! 😞 Amazing channel, thank you for all the support!

      Possibly the fuse box failing.

      @@FloridaVanMan hey there! Wow thank you for the reply, that was our thought as well and indeed replaced the main relay junction fuse control box under the steering wheel and no change in outcome :-(.

      @@sekter I worked on a similar one this week. No blinkers so I replaced the switch assembly. No change so I replaced the Fues box. Still no change so I put the original parts back in and now everything works. Go figure!!! Maybe a loose or corroded connection got scuffed I the process?

      @@FloridaVanMan oh boy, well I'm certainly up for giving that a go... I have a feeling it's going to be a bit more troublesome though. I am preparing for some Patreon goodness to come your way, I love and appreciate the treasure trove wealth of information here on the channel and thank you so much for providing it, but I will probably have to pester you a bit directly to get over this hurdle though. I hope all is well with where ever you are/were from the storm. I'm down in the Tampa Bay area, I have a feeling it's going to be a bit more difficult to find anyone willing and able to work on my van for the foreseeable future. I would love to get in contact with you directly if possible, I'm assuming the Patreon is indeed the best way to go about that yeah? Thank you in advance!

    You've convinced me not to do this if I ever need to. The airbag itself is a reason for professionals or people like you to perform this intricate repair. I particularly like the cruise control I call chopstick at my left hand fingertips and just seems extremely functional.

    • @FloridaVanMan
      @FloridaVanMan  2 роки тому

      Always smart to be cautions, even overly cautions when unsure. If you disconnect van battery and the house battery 20 minutes before messing with the airbag it is certainly safe. But if you don't need to, don't play with matches or dynamite.

    Hi, all. Had this issue with random/no turn signals about 4 years ago, read all the forums, cleaned contacts, exchanged relays between them, all pointing to a rather "mechanical" problem, something that had just not worked as before.
    I finally noticed that in some position of the multi-function switch, everything works (pushed it from different directions with my hands).
    My conclusion was that plastic deformed in time as that piece is supposed to be pushed by bolts, but these bolts created some leverage. I used some plastic tie wraps to tighten the multi-function switch back to its position at the end that was pushed away from the column by the leverage and the problem is solved since then, no switch replacement, van is from 2000 and the switch is probably the original one. Some may have other issues, but mine was purely mechanical deforming.

      And mine were T30, and to make things worse, after replacing this unit with a new one, the new one didn't work as good as the last/old one. Grrrrrr UPDATE: It was a lot easier the second time, AND... Operator Error, the fuse block wasn't completely connected to the bottom of the new part.

    Did hooking the battery up without the air bag not set off codes in the air bag module?

    • @FloridaVanMan
      @FloridaVanMan  2 роки тому +1

      No, I think seatbelts will do that and I'm a bit surprised I had no codes when I put everything back together. You might get one but it will clear easily with the AP200 or iCarsoft MBii. Links for both on our products page.

    Mine will stop working so I push on the relay and they start working. The intermittent wipes come and go also.
    Any ideas?
    Also, do you have a video, or know of one, that explains the HVAC buttons. Can't get air to blow on our feet. Could be plugged up but not sure how to check it.
    Thanks. I like your straight to the point videos.

    • @FloridaVanMan

      Pushing on the relay suggests your issue could be in the fuse box. That is an easy part to replace and I don't know any way to troubleshoot it without replacing it to see if the trouble goes away. I hate to throw $150 parts at it, but when the option is several hours of investigation to determine if we still need to throw the same part at it.... Makes sense to just throw do it.

    Does this also control the headlights ? That’s what a shop has claimed

    • @FloridaVanMan
      @FloridaVanMan  3 місяці тому +1

      It does. My first time changing this switch was due to my headlights just turning themselves off randomly and they would not come back until they decided* it was time. High beams worked and traffic loved me that long drive home.

    When i push the high beams forwars they dont turn on, but when i pull back they turn on. What is this called? The temporary vs permanent mode of high beams?

    • @FloridaVanMan
      @FloridaVanMan  3 дні тому

      That is a broken Multi-Function switch. High-beam flash works but regular high beam does not. Or like in my situation before this video the high beams would work for a while then just turn off without touching the switch or doing anything. Just cruising down the road and the lights turn off. Turn off the high beams and the lights would come back on, but I had some "oh-shit" moments figuring this out.

    Is the intermittent wiper function part of the switch, or is there a timer/relay for that elsewhere?

    • @FloridaVanMan
      @FloridaVanMan  Рік тому

      My service manual says the timer circuit is in the steering column fuse-box, and when the intermittent wiper feature doesn't work "replace fuse box". I'm not confident on this answer, but it is right from the troubleshooting of my book.

    Do you think a bad multifunction switch might cause CAN bus faults? I've been having an intermittent fault where all my cluster lights turn on and my 04 t1n either wont start or goes into hard limp. When this happens sometimes tugging on the steering column will affect the cluster lights and at one point the blinkers stopped working until I jostled the cruise control switch. I will link a video of the light show.

      The blinkers stop working still sounds like trouble in the switch, but seeing those lights come on with the brake depressed is a heavy indicator of problems in your brake & tail lights. The wrong bulbs will glow but cause an incorrect resistance when not illuminated. That resistance causes problems with the CAN-bus network. The tack and fuel gauge flaking out could be due to a brake light bulb contact touching both circuits in the bulb socket. These are the correct bulbs:
      Tail Lights: (top position being #1, bottom #4)
      #1 7528 amzn.to/3cpvc8g
      #2 & #3 & High brake light 7506 amzn.to/3srWfFN
      #4 5007 amzn.to/3Lw2bYj
      License plate 6418 amzn.to/2NVoTQo
      Other Lights (that don't effect the CAN-bus):
      Headlight H1
      Low Beam H7
      Front Side Markers 3457A
      Or LED sequential
      Dome 6411
      Front Turn/Parking 2825
