I grew up in southern California and we had hummingbirds on our street. One hot day I was spraying a fine mist of water with a garden hose into the air just to cool off. While I admired the rainbow a hummingbird came and hovered in the mist! I felt I had been visited by an angel.
Sitting on my porch in Georgia watching the ruby throated hummingbirds protect their "claimed" feeder, fattening up for their migration, but are no where near the colors of these guys. But this is why I enjoy your channel and love to see all the different colors, breeds, and places of all hummingbirds. Beautiful blue hummingbird! Appreciate your tenacity and sharing of your adventures!
I know those sounds very well. Our sound like Star Wars adventure and they get physical the same way lol. Seriously a one on one straight up from the feeders so high you lose sight of them!! These exotics live up to their reputation by how absolutely gorgeous they are WOW!! TYSM Carole, thus was a treat❤❤❤❤
We have thr ruby throated humming birds here on the eastern shore of Maryland. All summer thry a Have buzzed around us, delighting us with every antic…and so we do sit by the feeders for hours and hours. They have begun migration and we miss them already and will keep putting out the nectar until it freezes…just in case…one of the universes most special gifts….
So beautiful all the different colors of these beautiful birds thank you for bringing this video for us to see. I am so appreciative of all your work and all you do.❤❤
What a beautiful video, Carol!. The diversity of hummingbird colors is wonderful. I am a lover of hummingbirds, i have previosly told you that i have 6 water fountains and a very nice garden for them in Santiago, on the seventh floor of my apartment. I want to share two pieces of news with you, the first is that a work colleague who also has drinking fountains, the Arica hummingbird went to visit her, that you met him and he is at risk of extinction and he is now a permanent guest, because he stayed here in Santiago and did not migrate. Also one of my hummingbirds that visited me this season laid two eggs in a bouganvillia tree in my building, they have already hatched. She will probably migrate with them, because the rest have already migrated to south of Chile. They are Sephanoid hummingbirds , Sephanoids. Many thanks for beautiful video. A lot of greetings. Clara Chile
@@HummingbirdSpot Hi!,Carol:my colleague actually saw the Arica hummingbird, it is very evident, its purple collar, here in Santiago only the Sephanoides sephanoides visits us, but was unable to photograph it.He is still here in Santiago. My colleague installed a camera, when she has images , we will send it to you. I believe it found a new feeding route, and who knows, if it becomes endemic to the place. Yes, i have photographs of the Arica hummingsbird, because i saw it in Bahia inglesa, a beautiful beach in the North of Chile, approximately 8 hours from Arica. Many greetings Clara Chile
So when they fight.. do they poke with their beak? Have any died from impalement or needed medical attention because of fighting injuries? Only curious. They are like flying darts, makes me nervous them buzzing around..

Thank you for allowing me to see hummingbirds I would otherwise never see. They are beautiful.

So gorgeous! They almost don't seem real. I love being able to hear all of their little vocalizations, too!

They are so beautiful! I would never get anything done. I would just sit outside and watch them all day. 😂
Yes! I agree. However, anytime in the winter, these kinds of videos are a must-watch because they bless the heart with beauty.
I'd be watching and snaping pictures all day
That would be me. I can spend alot of time at my kitchen window just watching my feisty sparrows😂
I think that I would rarely leave the feeder if I had all those magnificent Hummingbirds visiting me!

Do you have pictures of the Arica? This bird does not migrate and is only found in northern Chile. Having an Arica in Santiago would be news.

Their colors are absolutely stunning!!! Thank you for such an enjoyable experience!
That was amazing! Thank you!
That feeder is just dying to a live cam!
I know. Don't think I didn't think about it when I was down there. Their upload speed won't handle it.
I love it when they give each other the "record scratch" sound, you know it's serious then.
😍😍the red & gold😍.. they sound like a video game 🎮
It’s nice to see that South American hummingbirds are just as rude to each other as North American ones. 😂
Ha, ha...the nature of the beast! These little guys are like sharp darts, for sure.
so much bigger than here in the US
Much more colorful than the hummers I get at my feeders in North Carolina. Thanks for sharing.
I think my hummingbirds just left here, in the last few days. I'm in the midwest😢
They will remember where you are!

Yes, they poke with their beaks. Some hummingbirds even have tooth like ridges on their beaks.
