Great video! I like how each faction in the game so far has their own unique feel and also each faction has their own unique bases, while at the same time sharing ones also with similar effects. I've played this version a couple times so far with an experienced SW Deck building game player. I played the Seperatists and before we played we thought they were underpowered and would't do so well vs the Republic. They are sneaky good tho! That ability to exile cards from the galaxy row makes it so that you are able to get better Seperatist cards in the row, and they have some cards that were invaluable such as the Droid Control Ship that made it so you could purchase cards from your exile pile. The Vulture Droid was especially useful in our games as The Droid Control ship basically generated the resources to buy it ever turn and it paired so well with the Destroyer Droids. I'm really happy that they came up with new factions and mechanics to play with in this game. I'd like to see them make more cards for Rebels and Empire based on the Andor TV series and they could do a standalone for the Episodes 7-9 with the Resistance and First Order. They could even do the Mandalorian TV series. Lots of posibilities and as long as they can come up with fun and unique ways to differentiate them, they will just make this game better and better! I love playing this game and glad to see its getting the attention it needs from Fantasy Flight so far.
Great video and nice smile at the end. Shards of Infinity added mastery and mercenaries as you mentioned in your other video and I enjoy the game, but thought the new ideas may be done for this genre of deck builder games. I’m not that big of a Star Wars GAME fan (enjoy the movies) so I was skeptical I would enjoy the SW deck building game. It was really a pleasant surprise from the asymmetric factions to the force meter to the ability to attack (remove) your opponent’s cards from the center row w/rewards to the different bases. A really good game with very creative new mechanisms.
When the og game came out I was skeptical about its value given how similar it looked on paper to games like star realms and shards of infinity. But after playing it myself I understood the appeal. It's such a thematic fun game with simple yet novel mechanics. Can't wait to see what the new decks bring to the game!
Just got my preorder copy about a week or two back, and I already own the original. Looking forward to a little Star Wars paradoxical gameplay with the Empire (Darth Vader) vs. the Republic (Anakin Skywalker), or maybe Luke and the Rebels vs. Anakin (I will be your father).
Deck building game with factions with special mechanisms, not deck building during the game itself but prior to the game, Star Wars Unlimited the TCG haha. Not what you were asking about but it’s incredible, has factions, abilities, and mechanisms of sorts.
For a 1v1 deckbuilder I love the Power Rangers DBG. Asymmetric too which I always love. The Ranger player is building up the Zords to get to the Megazord while the villain player is adding allies that give them ever increasing ongoing abilities.
If I had the choice when the game first came out I would have chosen this era. Not sure if I’ll pick this one up alright having the other one though (and not getting it to the table nearly enough)
Which box cover did you choose as the one to be the lid for your combined set?? I typically always combine stand alone games, expansions etc into one box. It’s nice to have one box with everything, and save space. But I can’t choose between either box art here, so I’m keeping both, what a twist. I just got Targi and the ex, put everything in the ex box bc that cover is prettier.
This is a great game and a lot of fun! My kid (6) loves playing this game with me. Also I don't know if you knew this but there's a 4 player ruleset they mention at the back of the book and you can find online to play with all 4 decks in an 2v2 game mode. Hey Jamie would you be willing to review or at least check out any other games from a smaller publisher?
That's great! I'm curious how well it would work at 4 players. I appreciate you asking, but I'm not a reviewer, so I don't accept review copies of games. The games I play are those that I either buy, that friends have bought, or that someone shares with me at a convention. In that way, I talk about games from publishers big and small on this channel. :)
Very thematic with the choices you make. Thanks for sharing Jamie.

I'd love to see more cards too! For us, in around 10 plays with various people, the Separatists have never lost. :)

I'm glad you gave it a try and enjoyed it! I really like the mercenary concept in Shards too.

Fort by Leder Games is a neat deck builder with a cute theme and some fun gameplay.

Thanks for the recommendation! I need to try that.

We ended up going with the classic original box lid but the new box bottom. :)

The Clones seem significantly worse than the Seps. My gf is struggling to play them.
