I remember going to this show on shrooms. Les walks out on stage in pajamas and a monkey mask. I don't think anything has ever startled me more in my life.
this guitarist is one of the best i ever seen ,i can only imagine how hard it is to get somuch out of your guitar while 90% of their music is written for the bass
Saw this tour in Detroit. They opened with this. I was tripping balls went in got a beer sat down front row balcony and when the show was over I still had a full beer I never moved. I was completely mesmerized. I will never forget a moment of that night.
Berealzalot Dosays It seems to be a Claypool thing. I have seen PRIMUS 3 times, Claypool’s Frog Brigade 3 times, Bucket of a Bernie Brains once, Oysterhead once and The Famcy Band once and each time the live versions are works of art versus the albums. The Frog Brigade live was a true musical orgasm amazing shows every time. Claypool plays in the deepest part of the pool where few dare to go!
Tim Alexander is my favorite drummer that has been in the lineup. He's an absolute beast, but there's such a chilled atmosphere about his playing that is almost scary.
seeing a primus show can be so funkin life changing. love everything about them. saw them first time with anthrax and public enemy in the 1990's. my life has been forever funkin changed since then!
Now and Because I can't think of band that I would rather hear live then these guys. primus is the only band that I consistently will pick to hear their music live or live recordings then the studio versions. every chance, every song and everyday.
I was at this show, in the very front row. Someone handed Les Claypool a giant pine-cone for some reason, he seemed confused but was thankful that it wasn't thrown at him.
Les Claypool, Danny Elfman, Mark Mothersbaugh.... Three esscentric musical genius's who still continue to make a good living doing countless theme songs for practically every tv show that matters
the perfect band. top of the line musicians across the board. i think Larry is one of the better guitarists around. such a unique style. Les is just a god. and Herb is a monsterous drummer.
Yup and to think he was an important member of one of the first death metal bands. He played in a band called Possessed, the album was Seven Churches One of the greatest metal albums of all time.
@@metalmacabre9991 That Possessed album is so good. Speaks volumes on his talent being able to do death metal guitar as well as he does weird psych rock stuff. Also, I love that you're responding to my comment from 12 years ago. lololol I posted this original comment when I was a senior in high school. LOL
@@metalmacabre9991 no man, you’re good. I love when stuff like this happens because it makes me watch and talk about a video I haven’t thought of in a long time.
Deftera, You get madd Props for this posting. This is one of Primus Dark songs. I have seen them do this song live, but never have I herd this extended version.
César González uwu I agree. he's my pick to win the bassmasters classic tournament this year. Kevin van dam AINT got shit on Les. as if that isnt enough for Les, he plays bass better than anybody else in my opinion.
Go to a Primus show!!! They never play the same set list and they open up every other song into something new and different when they jam! and the jams can be very intense and powerful. Each show is truly unique. They may be a trio but make no mistake they can play their ass's off!
The way they never have the same setlist is a really cool thing about Primus. I don't hate the bands that choose to just play the same setlist (1, it's their choice, 2, it could be because they are comfortable sticking with a single idea, etc), but having a different setlist each night is really cool.
Very few bands can achieve such great quality live over studio recordings. Apart from the band being so tight, a lot of credit needs to go to the techs who recorded their live stuff 🤟🏻😎❤️
Nothing more surprising than being out in the wilderness with family, along a killer steelhead fishing river in Oregon and as I’m hunting for a better spot to fish from cross paths with a group of fishermen coming the other way with fish in tow, I make way for them on the path along the river and last in line was Les Claypool, He asked if I’d had any luck, I said not yet but I see you did good, he had two keepers, and that was it, we went on our way.
Duuude I went to the show, he went into Southbound Pachyderm halfways during David Makalaster it was fuckin insane then when playin One Better he went into Tommy the Cat halfways AND on top of that he played a secret song yeee homie the show was badass!
@mbcNOOFS Aragon Ballroom in Chicago. I was there that night about 10 people back from Les. I went to the show the previous Fall, about 4 - 6 months before then as well. Same venue. Usually the sound is shit in there, but since the first Primus one, every show I've been to since there was great. Except for Rise Against, they were awful fucking loud...like hard to hear any changes in chords it was so loud. Bad Religion played that night too but didn't sound nearly as loud.
The first time I heard Primus, my neighbor was playing them. I walked up and said " This band sucks!". He started cracked up. "What's so funny?" I asked. He said,"That's their motto, cuz so many people say that when they first hear 'em!". They are fucking great. The problem is that, like so many great bands, the radio has the top 7 songs and ignores the rest. Canned Heat was far more than Going Up the Country and On the Road Again. Let's hear all good trax and shitcan The Eagles.
They played 2 sets with break in the middle: the classix with this songs, Mud, Wyona, Mary the Ice cube, etc and after the break they showed the Chocolate Factory show with awesome installations and satge images. Loved it alot.
what primus gives you on an album is just a taste of what they can give you live
I remember going to this show on shrooms. Les walks out on stage in pajamas and a monkey mask. I don't think anything has ever startled me more in my life.
You should’ve worn your Pajamas to the show EW.
ME TOO!!!! Although my shrooms experience was at Bonnaroo 04 in the mud for Primus!!!! I think I learned how to fly during that performance.
He has worn a pig mask and a tux like in Mr. Krinkle in concert. Also weird to see on shrooms.
I can't wait to see them in concert
@@kcountrycorvettes😂 right
I don't care how many times I see Les play, I still don't understand how it's humanly possible to do what he does

ONE OF THE BEST PRIMUS SONGS EVER
One of those bands who have live versions much more interesting than album ones
Art Kuts you got that right. all day long and twice on sundays!!
They speak more the longer they play
Berealzalot Dosays It seems to be a Claypool thing. I’d say they are equal.
Tim Alexander is my favorite drummer that has been in the lineup. He's an absolute beast, but there's such a chilled atmosphere about his playing that is almost scary.
He is literally incomparable to the other two in the context of Primus
He is my favorite drummer of all time must say
Agree, but brain is brain also exc
That whistle at 0:41 is just perfect

dan wiz just happened to me! I totally feel this life changing thing
Saw Sausage, Henry Rollins Band and Helmet...early 90's, in Atlanta ~
How did your life change? This is extremely interesting. Did it go "better" or "worse"?
These guys are so amazing live. Great, great band.
Now and Because I can't think of band that I would rather hear live then these guys. primus is the only band that I consistently will pick to hear their music live or live recordings then the studio versions. every chance, every song and everyday.
WHAT??? Primus sucks.
Skaught I see what you did there

LaLonde is quite an amazing guitarist, too.
This is better than the studio version in my opinion!
amazing.........must be one of the best livebands ever
From 6:33 trippy sounds of early Pink Floyd....i can hear Set the controls for heart of the sun... Interstellar overdrive and Astronomy domine.....
They cover some Floyd songs live so yeah, definitely an influencer.
This is one of the greatest songs of all time
Musical masterpiece!
Seen them live twice and both times were better than the studio recordings. The mark of real genius!
the perfect band. top of the line musicians across the board. i think Larry is one of the better guitarists around. such a unique style. Les is just a god. and Herb is a monsterous drummer.
LaLonde would most likely seen as one of the greats if it weren't for his unconventional sound.

BEST DVD I ever bought!!!
This is one of my favourite songs on my favourite Primus album, I love the sound of the drums on this album.
I'd have to say top 5 of my favorite primus songs
My favorite Primus song, recorded at the Rave in the Midwest's greatest city, MILWAUKEE ! ! Awesome! Thanks for the excellent video.
Except this was recorded at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago. 🤣 The Midwest’s REAL greatest city. 😁 💯
Unique, Perfect, Strange music and lyrics with symbolism and cynicism LOVE Primus !!!
Deftera,
You get madd Props for this posting. This is one of Primus Dark songs. I have seen them do this song live, but never have I herd this extended version.
With everything up til now in hindsight, I must say I believe this concert was their peak.
Saw Primus this past summer in Vegas. On my list of best shows I have ever seen Primus stands at the top with Tool
Best 2 band's EVER!
the music is awesome! seen them many times . I love the drum kit
My two favorite instrumental-ish songs are Arpeggiator by fugazi and Southbound Pachyderm by Primus. I miss both bands beyond description.
Oh how I miss fugazi!
I saw them in AUSTIN,TX.......3 AMAZING HOURS OF PRIMUS!!!! This was a killer tour.
It's really amazing, how only 3 men can make music. No, Music.
Shit the drum fills during the bridge/jam phase here are fucking prime. Reminds me of Danny Carrey in a sense.
tim is a beast!!
omg another amazing solo from a spectacular band, they never cease to blow my mind
I was at this show in Chicago, where it was filmed! In front of Les the whole show, just a phenomenal sight to see how he plays up close.
One of the best songs of primus. Thanx for the video.
Whoever gave this a thumb down isnt a primus fan. Primus Sucks is their cheer.
Saw them last night... such an incredible show! One of the best i have been at. :)
Master piece. Plain & simple !!!!!!!!!!
Monster of a song. I've never seen it live either.
Great Post! Thanks. 5/5
First time when I see primus in live I think is in 1994 in brussels what a choc...great band
Les Claypool is a fucking bass master
César González uwu I agree. he's my pick to win the bassmasters classic tournament this year. Kevin van dam AINT got shit on Les. as if that isnt enough for Les, he plays bass better than anybody else in my opinion.
Berealzalot Dosays lol
*the fucking bass master
thats it ! just rub it in !!! i wish i could catch these guys sometime.
This is one of the best live videos of all time. Go see these guys if you get a chance. They will blow your mind.
Too frikkin' awesome! Wish I was there!
This video, performance, song, and band are all ridiculous and basically perfect.
Cream started the rock power trio. Primus mastered it.

If Tool could cover Southbound Pachyderm...
Michael Maloney I never realize how "Tool like" this song sounds until now. Holy shit.
Michael Maloney that's funny, I was just thinking about how the drum roll on this song and sober always arouse me a little
Yeah but it's already perfect
fuck tool
Sepulchral Miasma, fuck you.
Maybe the best Primus song ever!
Primus kinda reminds me of rush.Bad ass and the best they`ll ever have
If Rush, and Pink Floyd had a drunken three-way with Frank Zappa,,, the woderful dysfunctional offspring would be Primus!
i love how sometimes les and ler step back and forth in unison =D
Yeah I definitely agree with this here.. primus... must be seen alive- Asbury Park convention hall 99 I wanna believe... I was sold.
one of my favorite primus songs!
Very few bands can achieve such great quality live over studio recordings. Apart from the band being so tight, a lot of credit needs to go to the techs who recorded their live stuff 🤟🏻😎❤️
best primus song ever
just saw these guys on their 3d tour and they played this song...awesome
perfect trio ever
@theshrub maybe he meant there as in any location where primus is
"where is awesome?"
"right where primus is, there. there (is) awesome."
8:26 amazing.war with the fearless fling elephants 9:35
this is one of my favorite bass lines, hear rocks that sh@t
08:51 KING on the drums !!!
Man, the sound engineers deserve a shout out. I've heard a few versions of this song and this is by far the cleanest. They definitely suck 🤘🏼
i love watching herb play drums!
This is Herbs song
man that version is sooo sick !!
eccentricity rules - so do primus - even at one's lowest ebb they are amazing - thanks guys
My favorite Primus song of my favorite Primus album.
Whats up with all the other "500 Internal Server Error" videos here on youtube???????

What can I say about PRIMUS that hasn't been said about them frankly there the greatest band ever ...primus sucks!
Sucks! Signed, Primer.
The songs Inspiration was when Les was following a 426 Hemi on the 5 from San Francisco to LA
mathematically precise
Computationally precise as well.
Thump Thump Thump!
tales from the punchbowl is a masterpiece
Wow!!!!!
Sounds about right!
Never seen a drummer with an office chair, must be doin something right cus hes kickin ass
Respond to this video...
i like it cause its pretty chilled out!!
holy crap. that intro drum roll is intense
Sorta has that tool taste to it but with les and vocals. Very awesome indeed. Oh it also sounds like (instrument wise) like 10000 Days by Tool
Sounds just like the album, great stuff.
this is the first song that ive seen from primus where the bass line goes along with the lyrics.
@evanisgay11 Both Claypool and Lee are amazing, I wouldn't say either of em are better than the other.

did you see their recent show for $15?
Not a smartphone in sight!... yeAH!!!
This is a crazy song. I love it though.
this is very similar to the song Here's to the Man, by Claypool's Band "Sausage"
Check them out if you like the darker version of primus.
I lawled at this.
How in The hell can Les play a bass the way he does in this song? Fucking Amazing! Damn Great Song.
