9:00 "I grew up with this game"
9:40 "I didn't grow up with this game"
Hey there Chris Stuckmann
lol
In the second phrase o think he means he didn't played it that much
I think he didn't grow up knowing about the drift mechanics (as me and my friends). This was never explained in the original game afaik.
Should I buy it for my switch?
My guess is that because it was written by a different person than who made the video
"I grew up playing the game"
"I didn't really grow up with it either."
That's clear then
he said "i grew up playing the game at a friends house", there's quite a difference between growing up with the game or playing it when you were over at a friends house... but yeah, still weird to say it like that.
The person narrating was actually the opinion of a different person that's clearly stated at the beginning of the video. He then comes back to give his own personal pieces of information. I do understand the confusion though.
2 different people...it was made pretty clear
Except both statements were after 08:21 where he said it was his own opinions...
@@scottmacdonald8990 I'll play your game. Your original comment uses quotations which conveniently leaves out the part that you are now apparently referencing, which aren't the same things. He said " I grew up playing this at a neighbor's house", which seems like he wouldn't have played it much... Because you know, it wasn't his. You then later iterate that he did not grow up playing this game. I would argue that growing up playing it only at a friend's place would bolster a lack of familiarity with the finer game mechanics. But that's me.
Just started playing it on my Switch, and oh my god!! It's just how i remembered the PS1 CTR i played when I was a kid, but newer and more stuff! Its so beautiful and I am so happy!
I'm also so happy that I can play it on the go too!
I also want to mention that the Ps1 version of this game was my very first game ever, so thats something
Exactly my story ❤️
how long are the load screen for this game on the switch? on the ps4 is almost 60 seconds
@@300mcash2 pretty much about then if a little bit longer
They have a hint that explains how the drift works. It even appears early in adventure mode. I feel like you just weren't paying attention.
I was going to say that. Him complaining about loading times at least he would have noticed that in this game they give you tips. Even the mask characters tells you that too. Clearly some people don't pay attention to details.
I love this game already. So much personality and love put into its tracks and the gameplay compared to MK8 is so much complexer.
Yeah, the loading times are painful and the Wumpa Coins forcing you to be online doesn't matter to me, because I never use my Switch on the go. My problem with the Coins though is that the amount you can earn online per day is "capped". After a few races the bonus ends and you only earn less than one hundred per race compared to 150 to 800 coins.
The game is hard, but fun. It took me an hour to simply beat some of the tracks in the last world, but by now i can even compete in online races and stand a chance.
@Just Squid It's still basic but complexer than Mario Kart, like i said.
In Arcade or Online Mode i had no issues with the rubber banding, only in Adventure Mode where some items appear at different rates and/or are only limited to the player.
Just Squid only adventure mode has rubber banding. And it’s not that unfair they put it like that because with the drift mechanic you have the ability to pass them by a butt ton you have everything you need to get ahead you just need to master it.
@Just Squid oh dear, just another nintendo/mario fanboy we have here
@Just Squid look whos talking, your username is literally JUST SQUID, so you cant talk, and plus, this is youtube, i can put my name as anything i want, atleast i am more mature than you.. how sad of you just to judge me off of my name

I got a Sonic Team racing ad before this, lol.
Edit: got another Sonic Team racing ad before the end segment.
Me too! i got sonic team racing planned on playing multiplayer with my wife but it doesnt run well in split screen but CTR runs perfect on my switch in split screen multiplayer and single player CTR is the better choice out of the 2 for sure lol
Crash killed it
Me too. You had your chance sonic but Crt is so much better right now dude.
Haha, they are desperate. Disappointing piece of shit :P
Guess who bought more ad space
This game looks so damn good on Switch I'm very impressed!
I can't to get it next year p.s I'm saving money to buy
The PS4 version is better
Samuel the PS4 version is not “better” in any sense when it comes to visuals, gameplay, online multiplayer...all the stuff that really matters to enjoy it. All the PS4 version is “better” about is a few fan gifts when it comes to customization items. P.S. I have the game for both platforms and can barely notice any difference visually when the switch is docked compared to the PS4.
Joseph Burnette agreed! I have the PS4 version. Friend of mine has the switch. Honestly, don’t even notice the difference (when docked) but when playing in handheld you can tell a difference of course in the resolution. But even then, it still looks awesome! And it’s handheld :)
@@josephburnette9907 no one cares dude
I have both PS4 and Switich - my main reason for deciding to get this one on the Switch was for the portability - being able to have a quick race or cup tournament on the go on a plane or train. Most games that are on both i would probs go for PS4, but being able to Kart Race on the go was the main decision maker for me
Diddy Kong racing best times of my life
Came from the Etika video because the comments are disabled. :( Rip Etika 1990-2019. I never imagined it would end this way. I didn’t know he would ever kill himself. I still can’t believe he’s gone, I’ve been watching him since 2014. Suicide is a serious issue and do not joke about it; as someone that you couldn’t even imagine could be dealing with this.
Only problem I have with this on switch is the loading times. Even on the character select screen, when I switch characters, the preview takes like 5-10 seconds to load to see who you might want to play. Same loading issue between levels/tracks.
I absolutely love this game and I only have it on switch. I usually watch these videos to see others opinions and I’m seeing a few sour things said about this version but that’s not going to change how I feel. I will proudly proclaim that I have this game on switch and that’s all I need.
If it’s good for you that’s all that matters!
Been playing CTR on the switch for 3 months and it's one of my favorite kart racers on the switch. Loved playing the older crash games as a kid, never played the original CTR, but it was a fresh of breath to play the remake from start to finish
(8/10)
Oh man... The wumpa coins not working offline is a deal breaker. I'll be playing on trains and in hotels mostly. That's very frustrating.
Also Diddy Kong racing
KrazyKain agreed, that’s such a foolish decision
I agree wholeheartedly. It feels like MK11, where nothing is unlockable offline, even when you do earn something after a fight. Guess I'll just enable my phone's hotspot to earn the currency, just like in MK11. I hope this doesn't become a trend...
Also, Diddy Kong Racing. (Side Note, I wonder if that would ever be remastered, now that I think about it.)
Why? They only unlock cosmetic reskins. What happened to actually playing games because they're fun, not just to unlock things?
@@aneasteregg8171 Understandably, I think in the first place, no one would want to play a game if they don't like it or think it isn't fun. But to many, theres a good sense of acomplishment to unlocking things, because it gives incentive to do more in the game, get better, and have more options to choose from or do in them. And then after grinding games to unlock many (if not all) things, you have a whole plethora of stuff that makes the game even MORE fun.
Take for example TimeSplitters: You start out with only a few characters and stages, but as you do challenges, you unlock more characters and stages that you like and prefer to others, allowing you to have more fun.
Just wanted to place my opinion out there, I didn't want to come off as being rude or if I sounded like I disagreed with/shamed your comment. I totally agree that games should be fun in the first place to be playable, but sometimes unlocking stuff makes it even better.
@@aneasteregg8171 unlocking things is part of that fun. If it wasn't there id be fine but the fact that it is, and they have the deliberate decision to lock that away from portable play just means playing it in the go is a lesser experience and I don't want it.
People: JESUS THESE LOAD SCREENS ARE SO DAMN LOONNGG
People like me who played Wrath of Cortext on PS2: oh, you sweet summer children.
Spyro (Enter the Dragonfly): Hold my beer
Christ I remember... I swear I could feel my ageing with those loading screens.

Sonic 06: You called?
Diddy Kong Racing. Hot take: DKR>MK64. I would love Diddy Kong Racing for the Switch. It doesn't even have to be a remake, it could just be a straight up port of the original!
CTR in my opinion was always more fun, challenging, and technical than mariokart
Cause Mario Kart is technically more to a party game.
which is true and the challenging and technical part is a FACT
How does it compare to diddy kong racing
In music Mario Kart is the king of karting
Does anyone actually ask if this game is worth it? The answer is pretty obvious
For $40 dollars it's a steal the game has Mario Kart quality and is $20 dollars cheaper. The graphics on this game on the switch put mario kart 8's tracks to shame. I'm loving this game so far i never got to play it as a kid.
@@koopaslayer7598 cool
@@koopaslayer7598 not to mention trash online and 30 fps
Hello? I did not expect to see you here!
Idk I just bought Mario kart for $40 on the e store.
Bought yesterday on Switch and I'm having a lot of fun; visually there are, well hidden, some compromises but they are very hard to notice, especially when racing: the only thing that bother me a little bit is that the aliasing is quite too strong, hope activision fix it in one of the future patches.
Aliasing ? What’s that ?
Great review, it's the first Switch review where I see someone giving such a fair review in regards to the difficulty! Thanks!
aww... poo poo poo...
Thanks for the review, Crash Team Racing was the first Playstation game I got when I got my PsOne in 2002. I still love playing the game all these years later, and I can't wait to get this remake. Though if I'm being honest I'll probably just get it on PS4, that way I don't have to put up with the ridiculously long wait times on the switch version. And since all my Crash games, from CTR to Crash of the Titans, are on Playstation consoles it would only seem fitting for me to get this on a Playstation console as well.
Diddy Kong racing :D ... But yeah, absolutely love all things Crash Bandicoot. Nice review.
Hello friend! *Rides in on a carpet*
I also played this a lot at a friends house, and I liked the game way more than my own MK 64!
The nitro tracks are really good btw! The original just missed some charm (that they did add this time around by the looks of it!)
Will definitely buy this soon :D
garfreeek it’s good. Not always being able to collect wumpa coins is kind of a downer.
Diddy Kong Racing is cool and all, but LEGO RACERS was my childhood racing game
Imagine a new Lego Racers game in 2019/2020... Oh my God, the amount of content it would have...
@@SLISKI_JOHNNY I'd love a remake of the original Lego Racers with amazing visuals, and more tracks 😍
@@SoloJona Nah we need a new game with new content. Lego Racers didn't even have drifting or anything
@@SLISKI_JOHNNY you'd think they'd do that, since Lego games are going strong, they could have a Kart racer with a bunch of movie characters all in Lego
Ok, now I want Call of Duty Kart Racer
Chris is such a legend
In this game can you play co-op splitscreen on the switch, and with each player having their own joycon?
Waiting on that Diddy Kong Racing HD.
Am I just stupid or is the hop drift thing annoying as f***. I can't get used to the short delay before the drift is locked in so I enter drift thinking I have locked in a direction then switch to the opposite direction to get a narrow long drift for max speed boost but the delay means I switch direction to early and go strait into a wall.
Git gud kid

That game requires NO skill at all and even a 3yr old could master it no joke. But ctr requires skill... so youre very wrong. I rest my case
I hope they can optimize the game by reducing the load time and maybe increases the resolution a bit when docked
Your video about Etika was really passionate, thank you for sharing how you feel. You’re expressive emotion made me think if you’ve had a similar experience of someone in your life. You’re very strong to share your thoughts and your words touched me. 🙏 thank you

Because none of that matters. As well as the ads.
Comments could probably be good, but you can't trust everyone to be a good person
@@123goofyking ah I thought something was up because even if it is true what you said, taking those out still took a bit of effort. I thought maybe there was a bigger reason.
This game is very challenging in a good way. It feels like a flight for first place and also it's so cool when you're driving through and a missile just fly past you to hit someone else who's either next to you or in front of you😂😂😅
This game is really fun. It's a blast beginning to end! I unlocked my boy Spyro ASAP. I missed out on CTR back on PS1, and only played CNK on GBA, so there was a ton for me to sink into.
I just dont understand what people mean when they say this game has a high skill ceiling and hard learning curve. I got used to power drifting right away.
The only bad part is that i switch between this and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and i end up mixing up drifting mechanics on both games, if i spend too much time on either.
Diddy Kong Racing!
Now seriously: When this remake came I did not have a Switch or any other console that could play it. I thought it would also br published on Steam as Crash Bandicoot Trilogy and Crash 4, but years later, it looks that it's not happening.
So, are servers still running, so that if I buy it for Switch now I still can unlock all the characters? Do I need a Switch online subscription to unlock the characters?
Thanks in advance!
Does this game work with the Hori Mario wheel Deluxe? Thanks
Thanks for the honest review! I'll probably wait for the steam release on this one (hopefully!)
Just buy it on the ps4
I don't see the grinding as a problem, because I love to grind and to 100% games. Team Sonic Racing took me 35 hours to complete 100% which is actually average, it's quite some time but not as much as MK8 which took me 55 hours. Hopefully I'll be able to get the game, and I'm also hoping that CTR will take even longer to 100%.
Who’s here from the recent Nintendo life video😰
Is this worth getting for the switch lite?
Lol narrator got cut off a little too early at the end there 🤣
I dunno, I like the CTR challenges. I usually take one race trying to locate and collect them all, but should I fail to come in first because looking around slowed me down, I just restart the race, this time with the knowledge of where they are, carefully collect them during the 1st lap.... and then give my competition unfiltered HELL during lap 2 and 3.
I have played this game since I was a kid, and yes, I had a hard time picking up on the drift mechanic as well, but one day, it just clicked with me, and I have been a drift abusing champ ever since. As in, human players online still kick my ass into next week, but the AI on normal (the difficulty this reviewer apparently has a hard time with) stands no chance against me as long as I drive competently and make the most of the curves and jumps.
Sure, Mario Kart may be more beginner friendly, but in my opinion it is also more basic and boring as a result. As soon as you master the drift mechanic in CTR, that game's speed and fun factor blows Mario out of the water!
Yep Mario Kart has a low skill ceiling. You can master it very quickly, but it's hardly worth it since luck with items is the real deciding factor. That's not to say luck isn't a factor in CTR (warp orbs, clocks), but it's going to take extremely good luck for a novice player to beat a pro.
yh mario kart is boring after a while wth nothing to do
I think classic adventure mode is locked on medium. I play on xbox and load times are I think 15-25 seconds, so not so bad...
I can't wait for SPYRO!!
Got this game on sale on the Nintendo store for 15 and I do NOT regret it at all! I love it, very fun and simple. Pretty challenging , way more fun than Mario kart honestly.
Crash team racing nitro fueled is something other Kart Racers and Developers should take notes on they should make Kart Racers fun and challenging
@@SamuelJohnsonYT got it a month ago and still haven’t put it down once. Love it, best investment
@@Anonymous-ru2vg yeah same
the only big issue I see is that i then interview they posted yesterday they said that some things wil be time limited which means you are forced play offline modes alot just to grind enough coins before time expires since online some people are so fast you wont even be able to finish some races and get zero reward from it
i’m determined to make a list every time he mentions any nintendo kart racer (mainly mario kart and diddy kong racing)
How is the online mode experience in this game? can it play online match making?
If you have Nintendo Switch Online, then yes. If not, then....welcome to the club 😞
Why can't I unlock things offline?
Okay I can’t believe I have to ask this, but because some games with online features on switch don’t always need the subscription, I have to ask - when you say you can’t earn coins offline, do you mean that you need the paid online subscription to earn coins or you just need an internet connection to earn them?
Pretty sure you can earn coins with a connection, whether you have NSO or not. You DO need NSO for online races though, which tend to earn coins faster.
@@aneasteregg8171 thank you :)
This game for ps1 was awesome i used to play it for hours when i was a kid
Se ir remastered in hd made me buy and its pretty more fun than mario kart because you get bored in mario kart here you have a tons of modes and grind for the skins
Ive played over 300 hours of this on my PS4, went through all the GPs, unlocked every character and kart, and a bunch of cosmetics.
I just recently bought a Switch and would love to have this on it, but starting from scratch when everything is so expensive in the Pit Stop, and payouts post-GP are so insanely low makes me steer clear (pun intended.) If there was a "deluxe" edition, Id go for it.
I don't have this on the PS4. But I have this on the Switch
Thr payouts on the online are much better
I loved playing this on the PS4 but now, I want it 4 the Switch cause of handheld mode
Can you just play Grand Prix mode or Racing mode in this one like on the PS1?
As someone who plays in handheld all the time (sometimes tabletop), how muddy are we talking about?
I play in handheld mode and it still looks great

The wheels start glowing when the turbo is ready while drifting.
But you can also turn this off in the options.

@@urbanthedk4653 thanks for the input. Why make a kart racer without driving assistance when most people playing this game are kids?
So they can actually learn instead of just having their hands held every step of the way. If you never try to ride a bike without training wheels, you'll never be able to. You might fall a few times, but it's worth it. Same thing with playing more challenging games.

Diddy Kong Racing! Is Awesome!
I'll be honest. As a PC player, 720p at 30fps on the Switch does bug me, but other than the downgraded visuals, I'm loving the game so far. I'll probably re-buy it for PC if/when it gets ported.
Great, so there is gonna be a chance i’m gonna miss out on Spyro

I'm late to the party on the remake! This was my favorite cart racing game ever, I like that its actually is skill based unlike Mario cart which gives sandbaggers an advantage.
I never played the original Crash Team Racing but I have played Crash Tag Team Racing and Crash Nitro Kart. But I will play this Crash racing game.
Honestly if you're going to review CTR for the Switch then you also have to take into account that this game really, really wasn't designed for the Switch. When the in game currency system was discussed I can promise you no one raised their hand and said ''Wait shouldn't we consider Switch users playing on the go?''. You have to approach this as a remake of a Playstation game and not as any other multiplatform title.
This game is awesome on switch. Yeah it's a little blurry, but it runs awesome and the online is super fun. Just learn the turbo system guys and short cuts. There's a perfect timing on turbo sliding
Those damn loading times. How does Mario Kart manage to hit 60fps, look similar astonishing graphic-wise and get away with only 1/3 of the loading times?
chris hayate bad optimization
Cause Mario kart is a first party game
Because the bar MK8 set is way too high. When MK8 launched on WiiU everyone thought that was a 1080p game because it was too much detailed.
mario kart is a first party game, it also depends on waht console you have
CTR or Mario Kart ?
CTR for sure, WAAAY more content
CTR for me i been playing the same Mario Kart 8 tracks for 5 years every since it launched on the Wii U it's time for a new Mario Kart and CTR's tracks and graphics look way better than Mario Kart 8 on the switch or atleast imo.
Both are really fun. Getting either one is great in my opinion. Here are some differences that I see. MK8: loads faster, easier to learn. CTR: cheaper, has a solo campaign.
If you see MK8D for the same price as CTR go for MK8D. The online for CTR is trash, as well as 30fps for a racer. If not go for CTR
In CTR skill is more important than getting lucky with items, so that's nice.
I notice people commenting this actually has good presentation on switch graphically, and because there wasn’t any press release about this version of the game I’m gonna come out and say it, this runs at 480p In handheld mode, this is a testament to how many sheeple exist. My opinion? Even at a lower resolution cap, I still think it looks good because I’m not a spoiled little bastard and I commend that they retained things like all the content, visual effects, high quality textures, and even screen space reflection
Now we just need a mortal kombat kart racer
Thank you for the "Crash and the boys" reference.
So get it on Xbox or PS4 for slightly better load times unless you want to take it on the go and deal with it
Dcool77 I’m gonna buy it on PS4 because of Mario Maker 2 and the exclusive content.
