- The love triangle between Lita Edge & Matt Hardy is a storied affair. It all began in the late 90's where Lita and Matt Hardy became friends at an indy show. Slowly that love blossomed into something bigger in the WWE. It was there where Matt's good friend Edge hooked up with lita while Matt was injured. When Matt found out about this things didnt go well.

Matt and Edge came from the Attitude era though.. The real Ruthless Aggression era guys are Brock, Cena, Orton, Batista, Lashley, Punk, Carlito😂 Yes guys like Eddie, Benoit, Jericho, RVD were stars during the Ruthless Aggression era too but they were already known by everyone during the Attitude era

I know this is all water under the bridge now (at least between Edge and Matt) but damn man. Lita basically planning her exit without even talking to Matt, while he was thinking of a future with her. Is just ice cold.
I can understand the feeling when Matt said "I wanted to marry this woman..."
Matt Hardy was a solid mid carder. He wasn't great on the mic - he was passable - but I could never see him in a main event arena. He killed his own push with that disastrous promo.
Edge is an a**whole for this, both wrestling and real life. BUT it did skyrocket his persona to become so iconic. Still I can say one thing for sure, Matt Is s a f-ing warrior being able to push threw a real and wrestling heated rivalry and I genuinely still to this day feel bad for him, its mixed feelings from me
It’s much like the same way Vince’s “Mr. McMahon” persona skyrocketed after the Montreal Screwjob, and we know how Bret felt, and how he pushed through since.
Crazy thing is they both became friends again got married and started their own respective families while lita still single till this day

This story line is an example of why booking is so important, this feud for all the crap it caused him could've made him a star on the same level as his brother, imagine when edge cashes in his money in the bank on John cena and becomes wwe champion you have matt win the royal rumble and boom edge vs Matt hardy for the wwe championship at wrestlemania and as for cena? Cena vs taker in their primes win win for everyone
First match would be at summerslam in a unsanctioned match, Matt hardy gets the win
Second match at unforgiven, steel cage match loser leaves raw edge wins and ( in storyline ) have edge injury hardy so bad that it puts him on the shelf
Royal rumble Matt hardy returns for the smackdown brand and wins the rumble while edge retains vs cena and this sets up edge vs hardy 3 at wrestlemania for the wwe championship and you go all out for this feud have Lita play both side and try to get in Matt's head, have edge play mind games with hardy and make him doubt himself, then st wrestlemania the two go head to head and Matt hardy overcomes the odds and wins the match, this makes him the ultimate baby face and a star along with edge people who csn be multiple world champions making Matt stronger makes his match vs Jeff even better as you can add the world heavyweight championship to the mix Matt goes from being just another guy to someone on the level of at least Eddie Guerrero as champion
You can tell this storyline was quickly made because as Vince often says, "it can make money".
Matt Hardy should've been a mega babyface for the next 5 years and could've been a much bigger star heading off to SmackDown, but they clearly didn't care about the long-term, and just wanted to cash in on the drama at the moment. This story had legs for at least 3-4 months if booked right, but it was quickly discarded in order to get back to their original plans.

I liked the concept of it because it reminded me of how I liked was broken up with on my 16th birthday. I was always hanging out with her just to build a special connection and get know her a lot more stuff started to get better as time went on and definitely started to hit things off and I was suspicious this one day and played it off like I didn’t know anything or whatever 😂 I went through her phone and she was texting a female 🤦🏽♂️ and she just started saying all these things about me and then the we go back to school I get humiliated and they kissed right in front of everyone and myself on my birthday 🤦🏽♂️ and people laughed at my ass and I was genuinely embarrassed and then I had a handwritten note saying happy birthday from them 🤦🏽♂️ and then two years on my 18th birthday history repeats itself and broken up with again on my birthday and just ghosted me and stuff
